  1. You are welcome Lisa Marie. I didn't notice any benefit or any harm form the DE myself. I didn't feel worse or feel better after taking it. It turned out for me that my symptoms were caused by various foods I was eating, and once I got those foods out of my diet my symptoms went away. Not having any symptoms is trickier I think. We have several members...
  2. How about some avocado dip? I make avocado dip with lemon juice, canola oil mayo, chopped parsley, chopped olives, sometimes a chopped hard boiled egg, and a can of salmon, plus garlic powder, salt and pepper. It goes pretty well with some tortilla corn chips. You can also add chopped broccoli florets or fried brussel sprouts or onion. If you are a cheese...
  3. Hi, I tried DE for a short while, but didn't notice any improvement from it. I think it's main claim to fame is as a treatment for parasite infections. Not for general healing. I don't know if it works for parasites or not, but it seems possible it would.
  4. Hi BC, I think it is definitely possible for reactions to get stronger over time. And it is possible to develop new food intolerances too. Personally I think that is likely to happen when our guts are inflamed over a period of time. But, regardless, having an irritated and inflamed gut is not good. I stopped soy a while back and it took over a month...
  5. That's great! Sure is a step in the right direction1
  6. Well geez Luv2teach, that's great news! Congrats! Pasta is ok, there is some pretty good gluten-free pasta out there these days. Tinkyada brand is good and fairly widely available. Bia-glut is supposed to be wonderful but kinda pricey if you ask me. Plus harder to find. I've never tried it myself. I haven't liked the corn pastas much myself, but...
  7. Great story! Pretty cool of the guy to do that.
  8. It seems to me at least 6 months should pass on the gluten-free diet before you attempt a pregnancy. That would give you time to heal and restore some proper vitamin and mineral levels that are going to be needed. Are you a total veggie or can you eat some fish? Protein is very important for developing children, weather their mothers like it or not. We...
  9. Hi PhoenixSweetie, Here are some tips for the first 6 months. There are just a few threads on what to eat floating around. The topic hardly ever comes up for some reason... I'll post a couple for you to get some ideas. Get tested before starting the gluten-free diet. Get your vitamin/mineral levels tested also. Don't eat in restaurants Eat...
  10. Hi SWW, It should be ok to start the gluten-free diet after the endoscopy. We did have a poster once who said the lab lost her test results and she had to go back on gluten for a new test. But that is very unusual. Other tests they should do are vitamin and mineral levels. A bone density test might be a good idea too. But the first treatment for...
  11. Seems like I read that Lyme disease makes a ring like rash. Did they test you for that?
  12. Carob is possible substitute if it turns out chocolate is a problem. I think you could test using Hershey's cocoa powder. If you react to that, it is probably a chocolate reaction. It sounds like you have a pretty serious reaction to something going on. Either chocolate or soy or gluten cc. Of course it could be all three getting you. There's no...
  13. A good way to detect food issues is to eat the questionable food in isolation. Don't eat a sausage and decide that soy in it of the many other ingredients is the problem. Instead wait until you have been feeling well 4 or 5 days running. Then eat soy beans by themselves for several days running. Of course you would not want to eat anything else at all...
  14. Hi Buckwheat, You might find something in these threads. You could also try doing some crock pot meals and freezing portions in plastic bags. If you make a different crock pot meal each weekend you can freeze portions you can have a nice variety after awhile. Thread For gluten-free, Dairy, Soy, Corn And Nightshade Free Recipes https://www.celiac...
  15. Hi Kcorcoran, Yep, it can take some time for our guts to heal and start behaving normally. Symptoms and reactions can be kind of variable for a while. Here are few tips for getting started (first 6 months or so) Get tested before starting the gluten-free diet. Get your vitamin/mineral levels tested also. Don't eat in restaurants Eat only...
  16. Happy B-day Colleen! Hope the hubby caught lots of big fish! Welcome to the forum Ryesnake! I'll try not to tread on you!
  17. Sounds great SWW! That's wonderful that the new GI can get you in so quick. The test results may take awhile to get back, like 10 days or so. Here an article about non-celiac wheat sensitivity to read while you are waiting. This is another possibility even if celiac testing is negative. Unfortunately they don't know a lot about it yet or what all the...
  18. Hi Bekkaz, Gall bladder issues are somewhat common in people with celiac disease. You can search the forum and find threads from people about them. Wether the gall bladder would get better or not on a gluten-free diet is a good question. I don't think there is any way to know without trying it. I think you already had you gall bladder removed though...
  19. Hi Bekkaz, The IgE skin prick testing is not going to show an intolerance to foods. Food intolerances are IgG or IgA type reactions instead of IgE reactions. That doesn't mean you can't have all those reactions going on at the same time though, just that you can have one and not have another. So if you have an IgE reaction to a food you shouldn't eat...
  20. Hi Bekkaz, It can be confusing to figure out food intolerances. But it can be done if you simplify your diet. If you look at most processed foods you will see many ingredients listed on the nutrition facts panel, many of them not food at all but preservatives, colorings, texture enhancers, etc. So, you get a grocery cart full of those processed foods...
  21. Here's another way to think of it. If you had a cut on your finger and it hurt every time you used it, would you think it was ok if it took 6 months to heal? And if it did, would you start juggling knives the next day? What I think is your doctor is giving you poor advice. That's ok, there is plenty of free good advice on this forum!
  22. It's great to see the medical types are starting to recognize that celiac can be oresent with elevated weight.
  23. Chex cereals and Peebles.
  24. I agree with Tom, I think,. I am a little cautious about it. But it's been a while now. So, has anyone tried the Omission beer? Does anyone think it is ok or anyone have any issues with it? I don't remember seeing it anywhere in my area. I am not sure I'd try it if I found it tho.
  25. Another test for diabetes is the A1C. You can get test kits for A1C at some drug stores.
