ARCHIVED Newbie With Questions.
GFinDC replied to strongwilledwoman's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi SWW, That's a bummer that they aren't getting you in fast. My appointment with a celiac specialist took 4 months here. I never did the endoscopy since I went ahead an started the gluten-free diet while I was waiting. I was working at the time and being sick and not able to sleep was not good for work. I do have a couple more suggestions, but... -
ARCHIVED How Do Pregnant Women Stick To This Diet?
GFinDC replied to ValyntineM's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I don't know about the cravings. But I did want to mention dermatitis herpetiformis (DH) since you said you are having a skin reaction to gluten ingestion. DH is a skin condition that people with celiac sometimes get. I don't know if this will help but sometimes they avoid shampoos and such with gluten in them. -
ARCHIVED Still Lethargic All The Time
GFinDC replied to Ashy555's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Yep, celiac can be quite a challenge Ashy. It takes time to get used to eating "right" and learning things to avoid. But it does happen and it gets easier when you after are used to it. Kind of like a walk in the park on a sunny day in spring! we had a long thread about anger issues and celiac a while back. Quite a few people reported they had unexplained... -
ARCHIVED "touch" On Fox Network & Hulu
GFinDC replied to Loey's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I like touch also Loey. It's an interesting show. I think Kiefer Sutherland is one of the worst dad's though. He is always losing that kid during the shows. Some time he loses him multiple times in one show. He needs to put some rope around his waist or something. Maybe some bells on his belt. Jeez! -
The Funny Pages - Tickle Me Elbow - The Sequel
GFinDC replied to TriticusToxicum's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Hi Loey, Yep, the show title is just plain Eli Stone. It's about a lawyer of all things. But he i has "prophetic visions" that affect people around him. Kind of fun and odd. Split toes the? Peace feet? -

GFinDC replied to strongwilledwoman's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi SWW, This biology site has some info on the villi and the small intestine, including the other digestive organs. The villi info is half way down the page or so. Kimball's Biology pages Open Original Shared Link I don't know if they have Pepto Bismol where you are but it may help relieve some of the pain. Plain old aspirin can help some also... -
ARCHIVED Still Lethargic All The Time
GFinDC replied to Ashy555's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi Ashy, Welcome to the forum! There are several long threads on night sweats on the forum. You might find them interesting to read. Try searching the forum for night sweats and looking for hits with lots of posts. I think they can be a reaction to inflammation in the body, possibly in the gut. Inflammation could be from continued autoimmune... -
ARCHIVED I Have A New Allergy! Frustrated!
GFinDC replied to pretty in paleo's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Good advice Melietcetera! And welcome to the forum! @Pretty in Paleo, Hi Pretty, I wouldn't assume you have a permanent intolerance from one incident. Wait a while and try a different version of corn. It could be the item you ate was cross contaminated. -

Not berry psilly, but berry gluten-free related if you eat food produced in the USA. 'gluten-Free' Labeling Rules Head To White House For Usa https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/100223-gluten-free-labeling-rules-head-to-white-house-for-usa/ Loey, Touch is a neat show. I like Eli Stone (program) too. -

ARCHIVED Is Sleep Walking Related To Celiac Or Dairy Intolerances?
GFinDC replied to langone7's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I know celiac can affect sleep and can also affect the brain. So it seems likely it could cause sleep walking to me at least. Dairy can also cause wakefulness. If you had a skin reaction it seems your body is trying to tell you something about dairy. Staying off it for 6 months and then doing a short trial may help you determine if it is a problem. -
ARCHIVED Changing My Life Style And I Need Advice
GFinDC replied to TightLoli's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hmm, I have no idea myself, I've never worked at a Chipotle. The biggest risk I can see is if they bake with regular gluten flour on the site. That might be a problem due to possibly inhaling airborne flour. -
ARCHIVED Strangest - But Positive - Effects Of The gluten-free Diet?
GFinDC replied to ButterflyChaser's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I don't have as much garbage to put out. Since I mainly eat whole foods, and they have less packaging and crap. There is less garbage to put in the trash. -
ARCHIVED Things Could Be Looking Up.
GFinDC replied to brandyburl's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You are right, H. pylori causes most ulcers, not stress or spicy food or working too many hours, or a type of personality or all those other things doctors used to tell us. You can take some natural treatments for H. Pylori that are much cheaper than things your doctor will prescribe, and better for you. DGL, mastic gum and Betaine HCL are all helpful... -

Hi BC, Edema, (swelling) is also a symptom of allergic reactions. So part of it may be an allergic reaction. Just another possibility to think about. -

The Funny Pages - Tickle Me Elbow - The Sequel
GFinDC replied to TriticusToxicum's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Hah, no kiln for me, not for a while anyhow. No space for such a thing here. The houses are supposed to be easy shapes to make and with few undercuts to stick in the mold. Mine is more of a worry stone than a house. We also did bas relief pieces. They won't be fired and cooled (annealed) until March 2nd though. It was a fun class! Good... -
ARCHIVED In Pain... Again
GFinDC replied to Em314's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Ok, I think it makes sense to tell you about my experience with H.Pylori and ulcers. That may not be your issue but more info is better right? First off, stomach pain from not eating is not a normal thing. Your stomach shouldn't start hurting just because you haven't eaten in a few hours. I have had that happen, stomach pain after not eating for a while... -
ARCHIVED What's Soy Doing In My F*ing Tea!?
GFinDC replied to Pegleg84's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Seems like a gimmick to me also (the pro-biotics). About as gimmicky as water bars or oxygen bars. One thing I haven't seen yet is any common-sense bars. -

Thanks for the link BC. I guess it doesn't mind the hot tea water at all then. Well, I may try it then. I've had those tea bags sitting around for quite a while and haven't used them yet because they have soy lecithin in them. I am roughly 15.5 stone, hard to tell precisely, the scale is broke! Made kind of a groaning sound last time I used it. That's about 215 lbs. 6'1" or 185 CM 55 solar orbits for the Earth since I was spewed forth. Four-eyed or wear glasses if you are not a grade schooler. I have read posts here that said the neural type issues generally are slower to heal. From 6 months to 18 months. B vitamins are supposed to help nerves. People also say healthy fats are good for the brain. Like avocadoe, coconut, or olive oil.
