  2. HI, It won't be pleasant for him to do a gluten challenge later for testing. The gluten challenge is often a very painful process for celiacs and can last up to 3 months. Some people start and quit because they can't stand the symptoms. Reactions tend to get stronger after gluten is removed from the diet. That's why we suggest doing the ftesting now...
  3. Hi Collen, You may actually be full when eating small amounts of food. It could be your stomach has shrunk some from not eating a lot of food. That would make you feel full sooner than normal as your stomach is actually smaller. That can change though if you eat larger mwals regularly. Stretch that sucker back out! Another thing that can make you...
  4. Thanks for the warnign TicTax. i don't usually eat Totitos now but it is good to know they have confusing packaging. P.S. I hate it when that happens! I hope you feel better soon.
  5. Not an error, but a request. The thread post text is very light and low contrast now. It would be easier to read if it had more contrast or was darker text. Being able to read the thread during replies is a real nice change! Expermienting with changing text color to make it more readable. (bolded) Expermienting with changing text color to...
  6. Hi LJ, Those EPI-pens sound like they could be very handy. Do they work for kryptonite too? Probalby do, kryptonite is green like avocadoes, so they should work. I think it is practically guaran-darn-teed in fact. So, if the sweet potato works out, yuo might be able to do Food Should Taste Good brand sweet potato chips too. That would be good...
  7. 1. Can celiac's main symptom ONLY be the muscle pain (in legs), fatigue and brain fog? Yes, becasue celiac can cause a very wide range of symptoms, or no apparent symptoms at all, as in silent celiac. 2. Does cutting out gluten improve health for NON Celiacs? This is true in some cases. Recent research identified non-celiac wheat sensitivity as as...

  9. Hi Ashbil, I don't know if you like to cook but it might be a good idea to learn. It is safer to make your own meals so you know what is in the food. Eating simple whole foods is a good way to start the gluten-free diet. You can always add the gluten-free baked goods in later after you have healed a bit. If you do plan to eat at a relative's house...

  11. Did that for me too Patti-cakes, insomnia city. This time I am going to try it every other day instead of daily. I ahve 700 MG capsules. Maybe every two days just to see what it does. Me too really,. stomach upset? I can't imagine that happening to any of us. Sounds wildly implausible. I picked mullein today and am going to try making...
  12. Hi, Altoids peppermint do not contain gluten in the USA at least. There may be other brands that do, I am not sure about that. But the Altoids brand is ok in the USA. It is always good to check the ingredients on any item tho, as they can change over time or be different in other countries. Teas can indeed contain gluten. But I haven't seen one...
  13. You are welcome Squirmy-wormy! Ah yes, maybe carob powder will work instead of the chocolate. Chocolate and I don't get along either, carob is somewhat better tho. I have a clear glass bowl that I used in the microwave so I can see how the boil is going on the sugar syrup without opening the door. Of course it works to make it on the stove...
  14. I still haven't tried it yet. I am waiting a bit to see if the nettle tea drinkers all mysteriously stop posting. Total thread silence could be a warning better than on a pill bottle. As long as you all are self-experimenting like Halloween mad scientists, you might want to try some rodiola rosea too. It has a rep for making one feel more energetic...
  15. Hi Ashley, The start can be kind of rough going, and it may take a while for things to settle down in your GI system. People often report they get more sensitive to gluten after going gluten-free. probably it is that they notice the symptoms more too. You got some good advice from Bartful already. Your gut has lots of bacteria in it and you have...
  16. According to the all knowing wiki, apthous ulcers can happen in both Crohns and celiac. So they are not only found in Crohn's patients. Open Original Shared Link The exact cause of many aphthous ulcers is unknown but Open Original Shared Link fruits (e.g., oranges and lemons), physical trauma, emotional (more than physical) stress,Open Original Shared...
  17. You can try peppermint tea or Altoids peppermints. Peppermint relaxes the digestive muscles like Imodium does. It may not be as strong an affect tho. If you are concerned about soy and dairy the simplest thing to do is to eliminate them for a month. Then re-introduce one at a time for a week and monitor the reactions.

  20. HI LJ, Good news, Muffin the cat came home! She was meowing outside my door tonight after I got home from the gallery. Silly cat was gone over a month, and comes back with no explanation except meow many times over, like that is supposed to explain it! I am glad the possum didn't get her tho. Sounds like your one kitty is near ready to fly to the...
  21. Hi Dejibo, The paleo diet is grain free. You can find many recipes for it. I imagine your doc is talking about possible nutrient destruction during the grinding process for flours. That makes some sens e to me, I think I read about that many years ago in relation to wheat flour. The other side of that is that when you bake something with the flour...
  22. OK, then I must not have said it right, or clearly, or in English. Somehow I screwed it up. I am better with pictures myself, so here are a couple that might help. I am getting out my anti-doofus spray now.. Pssst..... Notice at the bottom of the first picture the multi-quote button in your post is green after being selected. And...

  25. Hi Piggy, great user name by the way, Gluten-free can be a big adjustment at the beginning. But like you said, you get used to it after awhile. The first few months are the hardest I think. That's real helpful for your whole family to go gluten-free with you. You won't have to make 2 separate meals that way, and won't have to worry so much about...
