  1. Welcome to you Adam. We all learn at our own pace, even if we are in the came classroom. No biggie, the goal is the same to learn how to eat a healthy gluten-free diet. Since you mentioned DH, you might want to check out the Dermatitis herpetiformis section of the board. And the recipe section might help to. Try a search on snack ideas or breakfast idess...
  2. Well welcome to both of you then! We are a pretty friendly bunch here and are glad to answer any questions. Nice to have you on board!
  3. Congratz to our Northern neighbors on their special day! 11-Dec-11 is a fine time to have celebration. Just watch out for the bars.. Open Original Shared Link
  4. You don't sound real open to trying new things yourself! LOL Just kidding. You obviously know something is wrong or you wouldn't be here asking questions and investigating. You seem concerned that you didn't pass every celiac test with 100% positive flying colors. But the tests are not 100% accurate to begin with,so that is not surprising at all. You...
  5. I used to eat a lot of rice but had to stop it. My BG was around 110 wen eating the rice but dropped back to 90's when I stopped it. I was waking up with cramps in my legs after eating rice so I figured that was the problem. I am going for a low carb diet and no sugar now. I think it's working.
  6. Hi Jmartin, Going gluten-free is probably a big change in your diet. Your whole digestive system needs to adjust to a new diet and that can take some time. Our digestive system includes lots of bacteria that helps us process foods and break them down too. So sometimes there is a die off of some bacteria and colonization of new bacteria that fit the...

  8. There are saliva tests available in the USA. Try searching the forum for "saliva test" there are many threads on it. There is also Enterolab stool testing in the USA. I know the Enterolab testing is somewhat controversial but don't know how good the saliva tests are. There is also a home blood test available in Canada.
  9. Hasimoto's can make your neck appear thick. The antibodies attack the thyroid and that can cause swelling of the thyroid gland.
  10. You could bring your own guac, or ask them to sub mayo for the guac. But the mayo would have soy in it 99% of the time, so that might not work. Forgot to say, to cut the avocadoes, just stick a big knife in all the way to the pit, and follow the cut around the outside to finish it. Twist the halves apart. Then whack the big knife into the pit and twist...
  11. Open Original Shared Link Oh boy, party in Aussie! Are there going to be gurls in bikinis? Well of course there are. Off we go! I didn't know that about the titles. I had to grab mine before Jestgar did. Hic!
  12. It sounds like you are having reactions to other foods besides gluten. That is not unusual for us. Maybe that's all it is. If you aren't already, you might want to try sticking to a whole foods diet for a while and see if it helps.
  13. It is very easy to make guacamole yourself. And it is better for you than what you buy at stores. It is really just smashed up avocadoes with whatever extras you want to put in it. Garlic, salt, pepper, lemon juice, sometimes I add canned salmon too. It only takes a couple minutes to make some fresh. Tomatoes are a no go of course because they are nightshades...
  14. I am not a doctor either but it sure sounds to me like the report suggests celiac and not lymphoma. If you google some of the terms they used it might help explain. Like lamina propria or muscosa and neoplasmatic. The report said no nespasmatic signs so that is good, as the nesplasma is a : Neoplasm is an abnormal mass of tissue as a result of neoplasia...
  15. Maybe read this thread, it might help. Or search on gluten withdrawal and opiod. What Is Gluten Withdrawal? You also might want to search on gluten ataxia and read some of the affects of it. Gluten can certainly affect the brain and cause damage. Eating gluten-free seems hard at first but after a while you get used to eating different foods and...
  16. I never buy pre-made guacamole. I always make it myself. It is so easy to make and you get it fresh. I saw a consumer test thing once where they rated various store bought gaucamoles. Some of them had no avocadoes in them at all! Plenty of green food coloring though..
  17. Glad to see you are back from round one Bonnie. You can get straw hats with ventilation holes for the summer time. If they have a band around them you can stick flowers or feathers in it for added pizzaz. I am kind of thin on top myself so I wear hats a lot. It's not good to go around with the sun beating down on the top of your head all the time...
  18. The picture a wheat field at the top of their page doesn't bode well... I don't buy any food from China as they have had some serious issues with poisonings. It is not worth the risk.
  19. Dairy causes me some pain also. So you might have found your culprit there. It doesn't cause me as many problems as it used to. but it never quite works either. Soy and nightshades are no good either. at least for me and some others here. There are plenty of foods we can develop intolerances too. Really anything at all can be a problem. So it helps...
  20. Food for Life bread and tortillas. watch out.
  21. It could be soy in the candy getting you also. Most chocolate has soy in it. And most chocolate has dairy in it also. So you might have a problem with dairy.
  22. Check out this thread with article that Scott posted. Leaky gut may be here to stay. Bio-physical Characteristics of Gastrointestinal Mucosa of Celiac Patients ... - Celiac.com Bio-physical Characteristics of Gastrointestinal Mucosa of Celiac Patients ... - Celiac.com
  23. I saw one of those "how they do it' shows once where they were making gummie candies. They coated the molds for the gummie candies in corn starch, not wheat flour. So molds can definitely be dusted with a flour like powder, but maybe corn starch is more commonly used. I think corn starch is probably cheaper and has less noticeable flavor, so would make...
  24. I take Natural Sources raw thyroid from New Zealand. one or 2 of those a week and I am fine. It is freeze dried bovine thyroid and available in health/vitamin stores. Your thyroid is under attack by antibodies when you have Hashis's. Staying strictly gluten free may help though.
  25. There have been a couple of women post about having reduced symptoms during pregnancy. It sounds like you had the same thing. Your immune system acts differently during pregnancy and that may reduce your GI symptoms. I don't know if any doctors would recognize that as a diagnostic tool though. A little too obvious I guess... I believe you can claim...
