  1. Shay, I have to disagree with you on this one. That statement is far too generalized and unfair to many of us here. I have an "official" dx, and myself along with MANY others who have the official dx are very supportive of people who are self-diagnosed or are simply searching for answers. Many of us have been on both sides of the fence. Initially, I was...
  2. That is the absolute truth for me! My whole family sat in front of me and ate lasagne and I didn't eat have the slightest urge to even sample it. It took me a few months to get that way, but it's amazing what knowing that gluten is poison does to you. Hang in there... it gets easier!
  3. Welcome! Glad to have you here. Hope we can help each other!!!
  4. Fedora, I'm sorry if I upset you with my post. It was not my intention to upset anyone with my post, but rather to show that there are two sides to every issue.
  5. I, too, appreciate your passion. The reason this is becoming a pot stirring event is that there are people, MANY people here, myself included, who either had a Celiac panel or want a panel... it's not always that easy. If I had listened to the initial advice of my doctor, BECAUSE of the results of my blood panel, I'd be eating gluten right now, being...
  6. I just recently found So Delicions Coconut Milk yogurt at Whole Foods. YUM! It's pretty tasty, not the same as yogurt, but creamy. You can also try their soy ice cream or their coconut milk ice cream. They have a chocolate peanut butter that is absolutely delicious!
  7. Ditto. We've all been there
  8. Hi. Welcome Were you gluten free at the time? If you have already been gluten-free at time of testing, then your results should be gluten-free if you have Celiac.
  9. I'll add my opinion here, too. The same thing happened to me. I was gluten-free for about a month, then intentionally glutened myself the day before I was going to be tested. I really didn't notice anything huge, no screaming headache like normal, I wasn't any more tired than normal. Then I realized that my diet was FILLED with gluten products...
  10. That is HILARIOUS!!! With a big smile on it's face... "I won't hurt you..." LOL
  11. Aww.. thanks Momma G! I called their office a few minutes ago and left a message with the nurse. So, now it's hurry up and wait.
  12. I use Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser and Cetaphil Lotion. I use cleanser without water. It has made a big difference in how my skin looks and how it feels!
  13. So, I am starting to have this crazy stomach pain again... I get hungry, I eat, then my stomach feels like it's burning. Then I feel like I need to eat again to make it feel better... my stomach feels good for only a short amount of time. Grrr... I wouldn't have even thought of this, but my friend has been treated for H Pylori and her symptoms were...
  14. I'll add my vote for find another one. I have an egg allergy, but I can eat them without dying. They make my stomach burn for a couple hours and give me a headache, it's very uncomfortable, but I certainly don't end up in anaphylactic shock. It really sounds like you need to be seen by a GI anyway. Is there one in your area that you could be referred...
  15. If you get an answer to that question, please post it. I've been wondering that, too. But what's worse is when the doc runs the total IgA serum, but doesn't know what she's looking at. So when it comes back close to non-existant, signs off on it and says, "oh it's ok. Be glad you don't have Celiac, have a nice day." I do agree with all the others,...
  16. Everytime I have eaten Wendy's fries, I've gotten sick. I'm sure it's CC. Here's the latest from Wendy's website: Open Original Shared Link You'll notice the fries are NOT on there... because of the issue of CC'd oil. (That part's on their main allergen website) Another one down...
  17. I used Ener-G egg replacer.
  18. If you can tolerate goat cheese, you can use that. But it has a much stronger taste, so you can't always substitute it and expect it to be the same. You can find goat cheddar, brie, monterey jack style, and crumbles. The crumbles are great on a salad, and the other night we used goat cheese in our pasta. We crumbled it into the sauce and let it melt. It was...
  19. I just made these (egg free, dairy free) and all I can say is hold on to your hats!!! They are sooo good, I didn't think I'd ever taste a cookie that good again!! Thank you thank you thank you :)
  20. Ok, I'm allergic to eggs, too and cannot do dairy. I can do rice, but it's easy to overdo for me. My favorites are: roasted cut up sweet potatoes w/ olive oil, salt, garlic and parsley chicken is always nice and bland... if you need it to be. if you can sautee, put some olive oil and balsamic vinegar in a dish w/ some rosemary and swirl the chicken...
  21. I was that way too. I ended up in the ER because my guts felt like they were on fire. Dairy is very irritating to an already irritated GI system. So is most processed foods. I lived off of chicken, rice, bananas and potatoes for about a week or so. Then slowly I started eating other stuff, but I was afraid to eat, too. Who wants to eat when you know that...
  22. Potato flour and potato starch are two different things, unlike tapioca starch which is the same as tapioca flour. Potato flour is made from cooked potatoes, whereas potato starch is made from raw. I have both, and neither one really smell like anything to me. The consistency of the starch is similar to cornstarch. The potato flour is very fine, like you...
  23. If you can have coconut milk, this recipe sounds great. It's hot here, AGAIN, so no soup yet. But, I've got my eye on it and am going to give it a try when the weather finally gets cool. (Well, as cool as it does here in the south!) Open Original Shared Link
  24. Ok.. bear with me, it's late where I am, and I'm getting tired... There is such a thing as non-Celiac gluten intolerance; which is a sensitivity to gluten w/out the autoimmune aspect. However, there is a lot of discussion about whether this is simply the beginnig stages of Celiac where intestinal damage is beginning, or has not been done to the extent to...
  25. Some people are more sensitive than others. The intolerance doesn't differ, but some people react to the tiniest crumb, whereas others could eat the whole crouton and not feel any affects. The damage is still being done, though.
