  1. Welcome Camy! He told you to try gluten-free, so go back and tell him your amazing results. Your nondistended abdomen should be sign enough not to question you. You may be able to still do an endo, if you want. It's pretty unlikely that you have completely healed already. Either way, you found your answer. There's a lot of self-diagnosed... myself included...
  2. I have never tried quinoa for breakfast before. I usually do some Buckwheat Maple Flakes w/rice milk for breakfast. But, to be fair, I work for my mom, and I can pretty much snack whenever I want. But, I've had quinoa for lunch/dinner. It's pretty good. I would either google quinoa breakfast recipes or go to somewhere like food network and search there...
  3. It's already done, there's no point in beating yourself up over it. Just say you had a feast weekend and start again tomorrow. Does wonder when you give yourself permission to eat. I'm basically following the same diet... no eggs or gluten. Load up on veggies, lean meats and fruits. For a "treat", I like to make a green smoothie with any kind of fruit...
  4. Cardio is going to trim down your whole body. If you are specifically targeting your backside , then you need to do some weight bearing exercises specifically targeted to do your glutes/hams/quads. That way you are hitting it both ways, building up lean muscle while burning the energy stores.
  5. Did you ask him if that was anything like being mildly pregnant? LOL Sorry to hear that he set her up for failure. And MDs wonder why so many people doubt them...
  6. I've been taking a b supplement since i read this post, and wouldn't you know! Today, for the first day in who knows how long, NO EYE TWITCHING!!!!
  7. That sounds sooo good! I have a huge thing of corn tortillas and I am always looking for a new creative way to eat them. I will have to try that. My favorite was a Mexican pizza from Z.(before the gluten-free days...) It's marinated chicken, corn, black beans, some cilantro (my fav!) and avocado on top. Delicieuse!!!! Now I have to try to make it...
  8. Hi Jodi! Welcome to the forum. This is the best place I have also found to get recipes, ask questions, etc. It's great to be able to draw from so many other's experiences. You are in Fayetteville? I am in Raleigh... is it snowing there yet? It's finally snowing here!!!! The first real snow (and probably the last) of the winter. SNOW DAY!!!!! Anyway...
  9. Thanks for the recipe!!! Those sound delicious. I just saved it to my computer. I am currently working on compiling recipes into a book rather than having loose pieces of paper roaming around. That will make a great addition!! Liz
  10. WOW!!!! I went to my doctor about the headaches and they put me on Allegra... I took myself off of it since it didn't seem to work. After having headaches EVERY day for almost a year, I went to a chiropracter/acupuncturist and my headaches changed, although they didn't go away. I did have some neck issues, which she helped resolve, and some sinus issues...
  11. Yes, you do have to be eating gluten. From what I've read, the equivalent of 2-4 slices of bread a day for 1-3 months.
  12. The other possibility is that it is an allergy, which my GI told me was a possibility. That would be another suggestion... That would be done with a blood test, preferably done by an allergist. You said you were gluten-free for a month and a half, then ate gluten for a month and now you are gluten-free again? How did you feel the month you ate gluten...
  13. I started feeling better within a matter of days, but not all my symptoms went away. For some its weeks, it depends on the person; although it doesn't usually take too terribly long to start noticing a difference in how you feel. If you want them to have a blood test, do it before you go gluten-free. The test is looking for antibodies, without gluten...
  14. According to the Enterolab website, you don't have to be currently consuming any of those things. For more info you should check out their site www.enterolab.com
  15. My apologies for the fiber... I would be scared of it too. I don't know too much about the Specific Carb Diet, but I do know it eliminates all grain and starches. I also know it really focuses on whole foods, which is never bad. I have only recently even heard of the diet and have given it some thought for myself, but haven't decided yet. From everything...
  16. Hi there Just because you have the gene doesn't automatically mean that you have Celiac, but obviously cannot be ruled out. BUT your dietary response is enough to show that gluten isn't good for you. Did you have your blood test AFTER you had been gluten-free? That makes a difference. IF you are not consuming gluten, your tests have a good chance...
  17. Sorry to hear your life long battle But, at least it sounds like you are getting some relief. Have you tried keeping a food journal? It's a bit tedious, but it could be very useful in helping you to rule out any other bothersome foods. There's a lot of talk on here about dairy and soy elimination being useful in the beginning. I have cut out dairy...
  18. I'm English/Irish (the Irish part,we think) on my Mom's side and French/Romanian on my dad's side.
  19. I have the left side thing, too. The eye twitch thing has been coming and going my whole life, but like the last month or two it's been hanging around. There was a post on here yesterday that suggested B12. I started taking my multi-vitamin again which has b12 and it's been progressively less. Not too sure about the left side abdominal pain though. But that...
  20. I have experienced tremendous results from the diet. My headaches are pretty much gone, and my fatigue is slowly going away. I can at least make it through the afternoon without napping now. As for the appt with the GI: When I told him that I did an elimination diet to determine if I was allergic to something, and found that it was wheat; whether...
  21. I have that stupid eye twitch!!!! It's only on my left eye, and it's been around all my life on and off, but more so recently. It seems like the past month I've been dealing with it. My mom says its from fatigue, but it seems that after a month, it would clear up. So a B complex? B12 specifically? How long does it usually take to stop? I do notice...
  22. Yeah, that's kind of my story too. While it hasn't been 4 years, I did an elimination diet on my own and don't really have any desire to be diagnosed if I have to go through a few months of feeling bad just to get an official diagnosis. Most people on here will tell you that the proof is in your response to the diet, and I totally agree!
  23. Did you make the meatloaf? Silly question, I know. But I'm pretty sure my mom makes meatloaf with eggs and bread crumbs. It could be that there was something in the meatloaf that cause a reaction.
  24. Does anyone know how long AFTER going gluten-free your tests will show up positive? I know that you have to be on gluten 1-3 months before testing to hope for the best from a test. I was about a month gluten-free before I had the bloodwork done. The PA ordered the test and when I asked her if I had to be eating gluten, she looked at me like I had two heads...
  25. My blood test came back negative, too. At first I was disappointed because I thought I was on to something. And then I realized I still was on to something. I did my own test and discovered that gluten was giving me fierce headaches and fatigue. By the time I did bloodwork, I was gluten free for almost a month. Whether that skewed the results, I don't know...
