  1. That was definitely one of my symptoms. I have been gluten-free for 3 months now, and things are getting better. I still have some bad days, but definitely better. I started taking a multi vitamin, magnesium, and a b complex. Recently, I started taking a sublingual B12 to see if that made any difference. But that was Sat, and it's still too soon to tell...
  2. According to the food labeling laws, (in the US) natural flavoring is gluten-free. If there is wheat in something that is not obvious like wheat flour, it must be labeled. I have eaten things with natural flavoring and been fine. So according to the law, you should be safe.
  3. Hey there! Thanks for sticking around. Do you want to send a private message to someone, like an email? Or are you confused about posting? When you post a new topic, we pin them for you. So, all you have to do is post under the specific topic, and we'll see it and make sure it is in the right place, and then pin it. Just like you did with this...
  4. Do you want a list of specific brand names? Because, like you said, they change things all the time and the safer bet would be to check. Or do you want a list of ingredients to know what to look for when you are reading labels?
  5. I don't have a problem with my cholesterol, although the majority of my weekend has been spent trying to find different ways to naturally lower cholesterol since my DH found out his cholesterol is through the roof. He's 30, is not overweight, and eats pretty well. Neither one of us are big into rx meds, so we have been exploring many options... But to...
  6. Do you have a reason to think he should be retested? If you do, then yes. Tests on children are very inconclusive, so it could very well have been negative for that reason. Children have a tendency to not produce a lot of IgA, which is what many doctors only test for. Have you tried him gluten-free?
  7. It's a vitamin B deficiency. Mine twitched for months. I started taking a B supplement, it went away in a matter of days. It's a symptom because of the malabsorption. Malabsorption=nutrient deficiencies.
  8. Welcome to the Forum!! So, did you try the gluten-free diet? If you did, how did it go and are you still gluten-free? If you are currently consuming gluten, then now is the time to be tested. The tests are not known for their accuracy, but if you cut out gluten, you will significantly reduce your chance at getting an accurate answer. It's never...
  9. The other poster is right, this site is great if you only have an allergy. However, don't dismiss it yet. If I recall, you were already gluten-free when your panel was done... and it is very possible to be allergic AND intolerant to gluten at the same time. So, please don't give up yet. And definitely stay around. You still have to be gluten-free so, your...
  10. Enjoy your trip Ursa!!! I am so jealous that you will be in warm weather... although you deserve it more being from Canada than I do in North Carolina. But still, I would love some hot weather right now. Anyway, eat some guacamole for me and have a safe trip!!! You are a great friend to make such a sacrifice!
  11. So I know that topic has been on here before, but I figured I'd start a new thread instead of resurrecting a two year old thread. So I bought the regular puffins... ate them yesterday and today. My head hurts sooo bad and I've got the anti-motivation thing going on. I knew better... and while they said wheat free, they surely were CCed or had something...
  12. My MIL and SIL were here two weeks ago. I cooked breakfast Sat morning for them- so we had gluten-free waffles and sausage. For dinner, I made a lasagna with rice noodles; they never knew the difference. We told them we used rice noodles, but I actually thought the lasagna tasted better than it has before. We did not have bread; only salad. But I did let...
  13. Whole Foods is one of my favorite places!!! If you go online, (or even at the cust svc desk) there is a list of EVERY food in their store. It's great!!! Good for you taking the first step! I hope you start to feel better ASAP!
  14. I had no idea there was such a thing, but how cool is that!! I love doing 5Ks. I'm not sure if I'll make it, but if it's an annual thing, we can definitely plan. But I am going to look into that, Baltimore is not so far away from me. Plus, I have a ton of fam in VA that I could visit that are about 2 hrs away... HMMMM... and get to try pizza.... the allure...
  15. If you already have an appt, I would take the results. But be prepared for him to not accept them. Many doctors do not consider Enterolab to be credible. Many people on this forum, myself included, feel that IBS is but a symptom. Something is causing the irritation, and once that factor has been identified and treated, then the irritation goes away....
  16. Here is a thread about a restuarant in Dallas (which if memory serves correct is 20 min or so from Dallas?) There is a more recent one, but I couldn't find it. Anyway, this one has the name of the restaurant, which is really what I was looking for. From what the posters said, it is delicious! Open Original Shared Link Found it!
  17. First, do some research to give to him. That way, he can understand the consequences of untreated Celiac/gluten sensitivity. And not to down "smaller" websites, but give him some info from well known source; ie The NIH, or The Mayo Clinic, etc. This way, it's not just from some random website. And don't try to push your dietary decisions on him. Maybe he...
  18. Sorry to hear you feel so unsupported!! My first question is this: Do you feel bad all the time? My husband thought the gluten thing was "weird" at first... But then I started to feel better. And I am starting to become the person that he married again. So, if you are already not gluten-free/CF and feel bad (and obviously something's up if you felt the need...
  19. Welcome to the Board!!! That's quite a controversial question... Yes, having the gene does increase your risk of Celiac. And one of the criteria for developing Celiac is that you must be currently eating gluten... But as you already know, doesn't mean that you will have it. There are many folks that will tell you that if you have the gene, your best...
  20. I can eat gluten without any GI problems or getting a headache now... but I'm not sure how long. As Jerseyangel said, he's probably healed enough that it is going to take a few days to catch up with him, which it sounds like its starting to. That's what I think has happened with me. I am healed enough that I don't get those immediate reactions anymore, although...
  21. Welcome to the Forum!!! Now, take a deep breath. It is my understanding that in the US (hope that's where you are), anything containing any of the 8 top allergens must be labeled accordingly. That means that something containing "natural flavoring" must state that it contains wheat, if it does. That being said, here in the states, natural flavoring...
  22. I have to admit, I am rather jealous too. I just need another person to eat with who understands... my family is so great and supportive, but it would be great to have a friend to catch lunch with who does't say "wow! are you still doing that diet?"
  23. I couldn't agree more. Even before I went gluten-free, I felt that way. But now, it's just made me eat even healthier than I did before. Stir fries are so quick and so delicious. Great post!
  24. You are the only other person I've heard say that... I used to feel the same way.
  25. Congratulations!! Babies ARE too cool! Just wanted to issue a beware... Burt's Bees either has been or is going to be purchased by Proctor and Gamble. So, keep your eyes open for any label changes. One of our health food stores has stopped carrying them, which is not cool since they are a local co for us here in the Raleigh/Durham area. I think that is...
