  1. Yep... definitely sounds like you are not eating enough. You do need to incorporate some carbs in your diet... and yes, ice cream is not the way to go. Especially if that is your only source of carbohydrates. Try some sweet potatoes, polenta (great for breakfast), or some gluten-free cereal that is high in fiber. I am currently eating one that is high in...
  2. I love it too!!! Especially with some blueberries or other berries... kind of like berries and cream. YUM!! And with honey it is unreal... almost sinful! Enjoy!!!
  3. If gluten is a problem for you, then eliminating it will help you to feel better. For many of us, our symptoms are multi-layered, and it takes a while to figure it out all out. We want to believe that when we figure out gluten as a cause, it's the end all be all. And sometimes it is, but often it is not. I started going to a chiropractor in Sept of 07...
  4. It's one of my big ones!!
  5. You said he was on the diet already? How long? The absence of gluten can greatly affect the tests, not to mention that testing in children is very inaccurate. If he is improving on the diet, stick with it. I think sometimes we need to feel validated (I went through this with myself) when we take our health into our own hands and see an improvement,...
  6. Thanks for the food update. EIGHT football fields full of int'l foods... you lucky duck you!!!! I am trying desperately not to be too jealous, that must be absolutely amazing!!!
  7. I'm very sorry to hear about your loss. My thoughts are definitely with you and your family.
  8. I agree. I try to stick to a lot of fresh fruits for snacks, and when I want a cracker or something, I'll browse the Asian section of the grocery store. I think it's Thai Kitchen (I think) that makes a rice cracker in regular and cheese flavors, but it says gluten-free on the back. It's kind of in small writing, but it's most definitely there. But, the...
  9. I have had those, they are YUM! Great snack, my DH and DS love them, too. I found mine at Trader Joe's with the snack foods.
  10. I agree with everyone and the B vitamins. I take a sublingual (bypasses your digestive tract) b12 and that has helped, along with some magnesium and added a B complex. At my worst, I could not stay awake either. I have a DS almost 3, and I would have to put him to bed because I couldn't watch him. And I would take a nap, only to wake up with still no energy...
  11. If you have been gluten free up until Sat, there's no point in glutening yourself tonight. The amount that you ingest today will not matter tomorrow if you have been gluten free for any length of time. I made that mistake myself, paid for it, only to later realize that the whole wheat sandwich, beer and bread for dinner did nothing but made me feel awful...
  12. Sorry, I cannot say that I have had that particular issue. But, seems here many have and often dairy is the culprit. Have you tried avoiding dairy to see if that helps?
  13. I have a magic bullet and love it!!! We use it to grind coffee, flax seeds, make our own whipped cream, guacamole, anything you can imagine. When my son started to eat veggies, I pureed them in the magic bullet. My husband uses it to mix marinade and such... definitely smoothies!! It is probably the most used gadget we own. And like you said, it's size is...
  14. Do that for sure, because I initially went to their website and inquired through there. They replied to me with a pretty big pdf file about what to avoid and not. Maybe the manager is uninformed
  15. So, I've been gluten-free since Nov or 2007. My life is sooo much better, not completely back to normal, but much closer. Anyway, every month, I've noticed that before/around the time I ovulate, I get horribly constipated. So, I'm having pain from ovulation, but then constipation on top of that. So, I tried googling this, but I didn't find much. I wonder...
  16. Thanks!!! That sounds delicious!!
  17. Welcome to the Forum!!! I say try to the gluten-free diet. You have absolutely nothing to lose, except maybe your pain. I had the headaches, too. Nothing made them go away, from tylenol, to excedrin, NOTHING!!! and now, I know that exact headache, which I also get when I eat eggs (I'm allergic to egg whites). When I did my elimination diet, I didn...
  18. Congratulations!!! Stick with your regular GP... he sounds much more informed. Keep asking... eventually you will find your answer.
  19. Definitely unexplained weight gain is a symptom!!! As I understand it, when you're not absorbing much, your body hangs on to everything that it does get because it's in starvation mode. Once you go gluten-free and start to get your body back in order, your enxplained weight gain may just start to disappear.
  20. Welcome to the Forum!!! You definitely are among friends here! My first and foremost suggestion is: GO gluten-free!!!! Even small amts will do damage to you and make you feel awful. It's a plunge, but take it. It'll be worth it. The next thing: Do a proper elimination diet for a week, two weeks... and when you start reintroducing foods, keep a journal...
  21. You have just MADE my night!!!! My friend made some brownies yesterday, and I got to see her eat 3 while at her house. Of course what did I want later that night, BROWNIES!!! Good news is that I might be heading to TJ's soon!!! Will look for the mix-HOORAY!
  22. I couldn't agree more with the previous post. To even hope for a valid blood test, you are looking, like HAK said, at LEAST 6 weeks, but in reality, closer to 2.5 to 3 months. And what would happen if her test came back neg? Would your husband throw away the dietary response and put her back on gluten? Do you think he would would go for something like Enterolab...
  23. Welcome to the Forum and the world of better health!!!! I completely agree with you!! Before I discovered my intolerance to gluten, my life was going from bad to worse. And now, I have a few days where I get bummed out that I can't eat a brownie or pizza, but those days are getting less and less as I feel better and better. I am thankful that my illness...
  24. Hi there and welcome to the forum! Good for you for finding a doctor who will keep looking. I'm not sure how the last one figures that flattened villi and erosions on your bowel is not a GI issue... Ideally, you would want to be consuming gluten for the biopsy, because if you do have Celiac, you start to begin the healing process as soon as you remove...
  25. Did you get a copy of your bloodtest? Mine was normal too, until I realized that my IgA was seriously low. The normal range began at around 80 MGL, mine was 19. That article posted by Momma Goose shows that a low IgA alone can be a marker for Celiac. So, get your test results if you don't already. Then you can see for yourself the total picture. As I said...
