  1. Which one? O'Briens?? There is another but I forget the name, not being a great beer drinker (and Yes!, I am a Kiwi can you believe?) but I believe it is better than O'Briens. By the way, welcome to the forum. You will find lots of helpful stuff here, even Down Under stuff
  2. I had stool and saliva testing done with Diagnos-Techs six months after I quit gluten. I am really not sure which results derived from salive and which from stool (although obviously the fecal fat came from stool ) My gliadin was still high, it picked up my soy and corn intolerances, but told me I was intolerant to egg and casein which was not the case. So...
  3. It is so interesting, the approaches of different doctors Some will only do biopsy on positive blood test - if this is negative with a positive blood test, no diagnosis. Some will do biopsy but if positive, no diagnosis unless positive blood test (even when with low IGA blood test will never be positive.) Some will diagnose on positive blood test, negative...
  4. If you should ever find yourself staying at a hotel near SFO, head to the Hungry Hunter. When the chain went bust the franchisee bought this one, and she works closely with the hotels. They will do anything takeout that you want. The manager, Lisa, was most cooperative, and said to be sure to ask for her when we came in. She has a celiac chef !! We were eating...
  5. Still bet you couldn't do Mexican , but thanks for the offer
  6. If you are a celiac and have been having malabsorption problems, it is highly likely that you are deficient in many vitamins and minerals, and that your pancreas is not putting out enough digestive enzymes to digest your food properly. As others have said, you may also have other intolerances that only appear after the gluten is gone because the gluten tends...
  7. I agree with Skylark, celiac testing and biopsy is definitely in order. What is the problem with your doctor? Does he not want to do this? What has he diagnosed you as having - IBS??? What does it take to get a doctor to test for celiac anyway? With your symptoms and test results from Enterolab, regardless of what the medical profession says, I would quit...
  8. It's always the fault of Quebec And what is this leaving Jacquie to her own devices, throwing her to the wolves so to speak, deserting a recovering patient....is this the action of a true gentleman? Those damned Quebecois still at it They will nevah give up Take home the kittehs
  9. I don't eat at any ethnic restaurants any more If it's not wheat it's soy, if it's not soy it's corn, if it's not any of those it's either nightshades or citrus. Mexican food is a nightmare Lectins in flour and corn tortillas, lectins in tomatoes and salsa, lectins in refried beans (legumes), lectins in anything citrus (think Margaritas) Good ole 'Merican...
  10. Welcome to the psoriatic arthritis club. I went gluten free in hopes of "curing" my PsA, but take a Humira injection every two weeks because it made no difference But definitely quit the gluten before it does any more harm to you. I was told that the Humira would not make me any more likely to catch something, but that it would make it harder to fight something...
  11. I don't mean to do it, honest I don't
  12. It's strange why folks feel the need to lie about things that don't even matter Yep, needs to be nicked in de bud. I converted by myself, I believe, because the IV metoprolol had no effect on EKG after 10 mins. Yep, has happened before - I usually convert after max of 3-4 hours. Never knew it was afib before, just thought ectopic beats and tachycardia...
  13. Wow, vancomycin seems like tapping in a brad with a pile driver Has it really become that resistant, through ignorance I suspect? Well, come to think of it, I had a doc who prescribed vancomycin for something that it was not needed for not knowing at the time that it was really a drug of last resort at that time - I think she just wanted me to be gone!...
  14. if you google gluten and envelopes you will find several discussions on this topic. You can be assured that your gluten did not come from an envelope (unless you live outside U.S.) P.S. But I see you are in Sacto
  15. Back in the 90's I was diagnosed by stool test through Great Smokies (now Genova) Labs with c. diff. and candida. I went to an alternative medicine MD. The testing showed that my c. diff. was responsive to either an antibiotic or gentian formula, so I chose the latter, of course, since the problem was created by longterm antibiotics. The candida was treated...

Now that's not good! It's not just pounding, it's erratic as hell, stopping and starting, and the pulses in my head are so painful ...
  19. Way to go, Bun-Bun. No time, except to ask Em and Bevel what makes them think I have hypoglycemia?? Not to my knowledge. It's just that my stomach always starts digesting itself if it doesn't have any food to work on, and then all hail breaks loose with the big bloat and stuph Don't have any of the classic symptoms when I looked them up
  20. I have a friend who bases her diet on what the "crystals" tell her she can eat
  21. Well, I'm only 9 hours late for the coronation, but yes, I will hail thee, QUEEN EMULEIGH!!! Don't ask me to perform any tasks for thy majesty for a wee whiles, though. Give it about a week, say??? Bagheera is adorable - is he going to grow into his ears? They is SOOO big! I will happily consume any Bacardi for ya - t'ween us all we could...
  22. Pancreatic supplements sound like enzymes to help you digest your food. This is what the pancreas normally produces, but gluten seems to suppress its function and many, many of us on the forum take these to aid our digestive systems until our pancreas resumes its normal function. Good luck on Monday.
  23. WHOA!!! Houses llke that are only enticements if they come with STAFF!!! Ah, wouldn't that some somethink!! Ahhhh. 24. Well, I considered that too, plus the hormones, but they put those in chickens too and I don't have problems with them. But I'm sure those other things make it into the meat too.
