  1. If you had been off gluten for six weeks and AGA IgA came back that far over positive, it definitely warrants further investigation. How long altogether have you been off gluten now? Depending, it probably would not be worth running the full celiac panel at this point Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgA Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgG Anti-Endomysial (EMA) IgA Anti-Tissue...
  2. Yes, joint problems are a common symptom in celiac persons, ranging from stiffness to rheumatoid arthritis, so here's hoping once you get off gluten - regardless of your test results, do give the gluten free diet a good trial once your testing is complete - that they go away
  3. In view of that one positive result, I would insist on the full celiac panel being run: Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgA Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgG Anti-Endomysial (EMA) IgA Anti-Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG) IgA Deamidated Gliadin Peptide (DGP) IgA and IgG Total Serum IgA and referral to a GI. That is very incomplete testing. The old school doctors love their...
  4. Those results in and of themselves are meaningless, because they do not state which kind of IgA and IgG antibody they are measuring. There are three possibilities that come to mind: could be AGA, tTG, or DGP. So the results would need to state AGA IgA, etc., and they would need the reference ranges that the lab uses when doing their assays to elucidate...
  5. Many posters on the board find they feel better with no grains at all, while others have different (and differing) grain sensitivities. Corn is as bad as wheat for me, and I do not tolerate amaranth or millet, while buckwheat, teff and sorghum are fine. I avoid oats just because I don't think they are a good idea

  7. The doctor who ordered the tests must have the results - they need to be more specific than just 'negative'.
  8. Being glutened since I went gluten free has never made me vomit. I agree with MW that your reaction if you accidentally get glutened is likely to be the same as before. People who refer to vomiting are normally the people who also vomited before No need to add fear of gluten to your phobia.
  9. That's What Friends Are For - Dionne Warwick
  10. The terms gluten intolerance and gluten sensitivity are interchangeable and are used to distinguish between actual celiac disease and a problem with gluten that is not diagnosable as celiac. Non-celiac gluten sensitivity is a relatively new addition to the doctor lexicon, although we gluten sensitives have known about it for a lot longer. There are, however...
  11. The Gliadin IgA measures your antibodies to gluten. While each lab sets their own reference ranges, nomally the maximum top end for even a mildly positive test is 30, so 35 sounds like a definite positive to the test, especially because you make sufficient IgA. So yes, it is an indicator of celiac disease. Did your doctor not follow up with you on this...
  12. Hello, and welcome to the boards. I hope you will feel you are in good company No, I do not believe it is all in your head, and I do not believe it is because you are stressed, apart from the condition itself being stressful, I am glad you are going to get tested. Make sure you are tested for celiac disease first, a panel which consists of the following...
  13. Hello and welcome to the boards. I am assuming with all his testing that they ran a celiac panel on him before he stopped eating gluten, and that one of the biopsies was for celiac along the way. Those ulcers sound like they must be really painful, and again I am assuming they are not h. pylori. Until you can get to the allergist I would suggest...
  14. From my (limited) experience, having had both osteo and rheumatoid arthritis, these sharp transitory pains are more in the rheumatoid camp and I believe are frequently experienced by those in whom celiac manifests in the joints. If you stick to your gluten free diet I am hoping that these go away for you in due course.
  15. ann, we are definitely not trying to drive you away We are trying to keep you And if there is any way in the world we can give you any assistance, just start a new topic under an appropriate heading and we will head your way
  16. What kind of pain is it that you get, Sasha? Is it a dull ache, a tingle, a sharp electrical jolt? For me, I describe the pain in my joints and fingers as being electrical type, almost like a bolt of lightning going through the toes and fingers. Causes a sharp inspiration of breath. Is it like this or something else?
  17. Maybe think you really hated Canadians??
  18. You have learned a great deal indeed, Loey. And I am the one who is honoured. Our health is so precious - may yours be fully restored. {{{{{hugs}}}}
  19. Hello, ann. Can you tell us a little more about what your husband eats because of his health issues, and your reactions when you prepare gluten free foods for him? For example, do you have a contact dermatitis when you touch gluten, or do you have a problem breathing in gluten flour, or do you think you are getting gluten crumbs from his foods (this would...
  20. Now for the big question: Do you moiston the rice paper or not before you butter it?
  21. Oh honey, I know. It is very sad- and angry-making at first. And no, life isn't fair. I never promised you a rose garden. But there are roses in there amongst those thorns, and one of them is another healthy baby. In the meantime, vent away. Miscarriages are the body's way of telling you that it is not ready to make a perfect brand-new baby; that...
  22. The section in which you posted is where the carers hang out.
  23. Celexa is on the gluten free drugs list: Open Original Shared Link, you need to check with your pharmacy. If you are being dispensed a generic version it may or may not contain gluten. Have your pharmacist mark your file to dispense only gluten free drugs and alert you if he cannot determine whether or not it is gluten free.
  24. You have a method there, Bunnie???
