  1. Hi, and welcome to the forum. The first question I would ask you is what do you hope to accomplish with the Enterolab testing? It will not diagnose whether or not any of you have celiac disease. If you order the genetic testing it can tell you whether any or all of you carry recognized celiac genes. It can tell you, from the fecal fat score, how well...
  2. What's all this about the Angel moving states, AGAIN!! What about the brand new TexA$$ house with all the gizmos ? Couldn't get an operator's license, you say? Did someone say homesick??? But what about the weather?? Inquiring minds who don't do Phacebook want to know!!!
  3. Oh Bev, so sorry about Simon. {{{{hugs}}}}
  4. Hi, and welcome to the forum. I'm glad you are finding it helpful. To take your questions in order: 1. Non-celiac gluten sensitivity should be taken just as seriously as celiac because it can do the same damage to you, though most doctors will not tell you this. They believe if you don't have celiac you can eat what you want (they are slowly coming...
  5. If the scope is negative, despite what the doctor may tell you, that does not mean that you should continue to feed him gluten. A gluten free diet sounds in order whichever way the testing works out. For every diagnosed celiac there are at least three gluten intolerants/ssensitives who should also avoid gluten. Many doctors are not quite up with this play...
  6. The hearsay is that all celiac testing in infants under five is not particularly reliable. Was his positive blood test the last one or a previous one? From his Enterolab results we can see that he is definitely not processing his food well, which would seem to indicate some intestinal damage. I think with that high a score I might go ahead with the scope...
  7. I must say that the scaly plaque on his right leg (left as you look at the picture) looks a great deal like a psoriasis plaque. Did they do a punch biopsy of one of the scales to make the psoriasis diagnosis?
  8. I hear you. As a nightshade intolerant person, all my old staples were based around potatoes and tomatoes, with my favorite dish being ratatouille And no matter how you slice the apple, there's no substituting for those things - well, at least not yumilly.
  9. Yep, that should work quite well. Go for it.
  10. Well, yes, I'd say there is some pretty strong denial going on there. Every test for celiac was strongly positive. There was not even a slightly doubtful result. Now, as to your symptoms. You are not alone in not having noticeable symptoms. For many people the diagnosis comes out of the blue when they are actually looking for something else. Not everyone...
  11. Thanks. Yeah, I know I should have looked for something like that Silly me!
  12. Is it possible to change the time clock for me to reflect that we are no longer on daylight savings time here? It is disconcerting to find posts that have been made an hour ahead of the time that I am in -- twilight zone Back to the future??
  13. Like I said, it's been a long time. I probably should give them another chance, with some flavours in 'em

    ARCHIVED Should I Even Bother?

The only possible downside I see in self diagnosing (self-diagnosed here) is for your son in school. Schools seem to want to see the "piece of paper" diagnosis, before they will provide special care for your child to keep him gluten free, even as far along as a special meal plan for the dorms if he is going away to college. That would be the consideration...
  15. HEAR YE, HEAR YE, HEAR YE!!! ALL HAIL HER MAJESTY, QUEEN RAY SHELL!!!! (who seems to have gone into hiding after her coronation) Does the crown not fit, your majesty? Is the train too long? - we can call the royal dressmakers. Is the sceptre too heavy??? Are the robes a bit grubby and smelly from Skeeter's vomitousness and need a bit of...
  16. I'm always suspicious of anything that keeps for a loooonng time
  17. Many folks go through a gluten withdrawal phase, which can last for a couple of weeks at least. Gluten makes you feel good and when you take it away your body wants a fix
  18. There is a section of the forum devoted to Dermatitis Herpetiformis. Why don't you post it over there to keep everything together? You might even find some other pics there that look like his Go for it.
  19. Just an additional thought. With my husband's DH it tended to end up in a blister type head which would burst. And it leaves scars.
  20. Psoriasis tends to form in larger individual areas with a scaly covering over it after a few days, rather than in individual bumps. It does not have white heads. It could very well be that your son has DH, in which case a biopsy performed adjacent to an active lesion could give you a positive diagnosis. A diagnosis of DH is a diagnosis of celiac. Could...
  21. Hi, and welcome to the forum, Terrified Mom. Hopefully you will find this a place of information and reassurance. I am not an expert on infants, but from what I have learned here celiac is notoriously difficult to diagnose in the under-five group. My personal inclination would be an immediate scope while he is still getting some gluten and still unhealed...
  22. Well, I know it is possible to have an allergy to wheat; I don't know about gluten allergy. Maybe someone else can help on this. My neighbor swears she has a wheat allergy, although she has never had standard testing for it--only the psychic kind of swinging pendulum which you can believe or not according to your inclination. At any rate, it is enough...
  23. It's a sad thing, but once we get rid of the overwhelming gluten response, some of the other things that have been trying to get on the line with their messages are finally able to get through once the gluten is gone. So we say, well I am gluten free so why am I still having problems? You will note from my signature that I have gone through a process of...
  24. I didn't know anyone actually ate those things I tried some in my gluten eating days and thought they were awful Maybe I could tolerate a flavored one though; I dunno
  25. We keep going round and round on this issue here on the forum. Celiac vs. gluten intolerance. Neither of them are allergies. Gluten intolerance seems to be basically the same as celiac except a gluten intolerant tests negative on the blood tests and the endoscopy. Gluten intolerants seem to be susceptible to the same complications of gluten consumption...
