  1. If you're crazy I am too. Whenever any of my scalp conditions gets out of control, there's no cure like a dye job!
  2. Sure, here it is: FRENCH BREAD ingredients * 2 cups rice flour (white) * 1 cup tapioca flour * 3 teaspoons xanthan gum * 1 1/2 teaspoons salt * 2 teaspoons egg substitute (optional) (I sometimes add one yolk but you don't need to - don't use the substitute because it has potato starch) * 2 tablespoons sugar...
  3. I wanna buy a cleavage top like Bunnie's!!!! Bevel's slumber parties- I wanna come!! , I need a pedicure so bad Leesargh's dancin' feet - pity her legs don't follow suit But Boo on Brian's stump - you all take care of that, ya hear? 4. I dunno, Bea; I am pretty sure that it's the lectins that are doing me in. I came up negative for all gut overgrowth problems although I suppose there could be something lurking there. The more I read about lectins the more it all fits. Everything I am intolerant of is very high in lectins and if I don't eat lectins I don't get those awful reactions. ...
  5. No, not at all for me. My intolerance symptoms are totally different (and worse, unfortunately) than my glutening symptoms, which is probably why I did not get a diagnosis all those years. For me a glutening causes bloating, cramping, diarrhea, and then usually it's gone in about four hours. Soy (for a while citrus, but I hope that's gone) and potatoes...
  6. I bought the bright red one, cause I have a lot of red accents in my kitchen, but I have it locked away on a handy leveraged shelf and just pull it out and up when I want it Didn't order any gizmos to go with it yet - thought I might think about that when I'm stateside this summer Would like to make my own sausages because they put soy in all the gluten...
  7. That sounds like a heckuva good price for a Kitchen Aid. I love my Artisan, and would say grab it. I paid a ridiculous price for mine down here, but we are a captive market
  8. I personally don't eat anything with wheat on the label unless it has "buck" in front of it Codex wheat starch is supposed to be safe for celiacs, but not for all celiacs. Our member Irish DaveyBoy cannot eat it. It depends on your level of sensitivity.
  9. Wheatcchef, we had a discussion on the wheat paste/oak barrel issue a ways back. You will find it here:
  10. Hi Jennifer, and welcome back. I found you under "JenAnderson"
  11. Yep, Jess's words of wisdom and poetic expression continue to amaze, and from a scientist too What a dichotomy to find it all wrapped up in one package What's left for the rest of us poor mugs? Bunnie, go wow them tomorrow, kick some A$$ in those boots of yours. They're gonna luv ya. I'd wish ya luck but suspect you don't need it. Nevertheless...
  12. Roda, did the GI doc have any clues about what could have caused the esophagitis and ulcer? I thought ulcers these days were treated with antibiotics, that they were an infection? Am I wrong on that count? Or is it only h. pylori-caused ulcers? Had you been taking any NSAIDS or anything else that might have irritated your stomach? Do you have a...
  13. Aint it the pitts? Just gonna have to do a multiquote on every post and then delete the whole blooming lot
  14. Generally speaking, rice and cornmeal are gluten free unless they have had something added to them or have been cross-contaminated. Some dairy products (e.g., sour cream) can have gluten added to them; some cheeses (a small minority) have gluten added, but again generally speaking, dairy products are gluten free. Unflavoured gelatin powder is gluten...
  15. Only one comment to make: a positive IS a positive, but a negative could be a false negative. As Ravenwoodglass says, once a celiac, always a celiac
  16. Oh Rachelle, hon, I'm so sorry. Nothing much to offer but my sympathies and some {{{HUGS}}}
  17. There has been a lot of debate about A1 and A2 milk here in New Zealand. Our giant diary conglomerate, Fonterra, which handles all the export of our dairy products, and of which most of our dairy farmers are shareholders, has done its best to put the kibosh on it because all their herds are A1. Down here where I live our local Ag college has done research...

    ARCHIVED Do They Exist?

That is both amazing and rewarding to hear, that we are a beacon of light shining in the gluten free wildnerness for those who have just entered it Certainly it was the same for me two and a half years ago when I self-diagnosed because I couldn't even get someone to suggest testing me and I was just stumbling around in the dark. How far we come.... ...
  19. As CDFAMILY said above, if you have been gluten free for seven years, there is a minimal chance of there being antibodies to show up on the blood testing or damage to show up in the small intestine. I believe the further replies were directed to courses of action to take to get around the fact that you will not get a positive test without going back on gluten...
  20. Well, that should reduce your stress levels considerably!
  21. Aim high and you will always hit high (lol).
  22. I just got one for my birthday last month. I bought the home model Kitchen Aid (the only difference between that and the "professional" was that the professional one has a bowl lifting attachment which I couldn't be bothered with, and besides it was $100 more here. I love it. I do only gluten free baking and have yet to find a dough that I even need to...
  23. I always have to be different!! Before I figured out my gut problems, when I was really flared up, the only way I could quieten it down was to coat my stomach with neat scotch - I guess it burned the lining into submission (lol).
  24. That is good news, Becky. She sounds pretty hep. Some posters report not needing any medication after getting well into the gluten free diet; with luck, you will be one of them. You may not have been seeking the diagnosis, but it is good to have, to remind yourself if you are ever tempted
  25. Those sound like classic DH symptoms. Make an appt. with a dermatologist to get a biopsy of an area next to a lesion to test for antibodies. (The biopsy must be from clear skin adjacent to an active lesion.) A diagnosis of DH is a diagnosis of celiac disease. Period.
