Yep. But do *do* the reading too. It is very interesting. You will find there are lectins in most of the things you have eliminated from your diet. -

Okay, but what was the topic title that you were responding to? Incidentally, if you want to learn how to post the url for this in your post, just bring the post up on your screen, highlight the url - the thing at the top which starts out with http: and then press edit and copy. Return to your post that you are posting in and click edit, and then paste... -

ARCHIVED Did I Do The Right Thing?
mushroom replied to jasonD2's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Well done, Jason. Some people are beyond education, so there's really no point in trying to tell anything to someone who already knows it all -

ARCHIVED Gi Just Not Getting Better
mushroom replied to jasonD2's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Okay, what did the doc say about that duodenitis, since that seems to be the location of your discomfort. No ulcer? Did he treat it? Consider it to be significant? After you burp, clear your threat, does the pressure ease? Can you resume eating? Your diet seems very heavy on brown rice. Is there nothing else starchy you can substitute in place of... -
ARCHIVED Gi Just Not Getting Better
mushroom replied to jasonD2's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
So Jason, tell us what you do eat... Sometimes, when we eat too much of anything we become overloaded with it and sensitized to it and intolerant. I overloaded myself with citrus and couldn't touch it for a year. Now, I can tolerate small amounts again. I can also tolerate small amounts of potato starch and soy and corn in pasta where I couldn't before... -

ARCHIVED Baking Powder-Gluten Free?
mushroom replied to detritus's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yeah, I hate it when recipes throw that gluten-free stuff at you when you've already checked all the labels for everything you use and are sure it couldn't have gluten. Makes you doubt yourself because you've never see one that did have it -
ARCHIVED Abdominal Distenstion - Normal?
mushroom replied to MATERIALGIRL's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
This is NOT good! You must stop doing this. Every meal like this is doing you damage and you are not giving yourself a chance to heal if you are doing this once a week. You really must find yourself some gluten-free treats. [end of lecture ] -
ARCHIVED Abdominal Distenstion - Normal?
mushroom replied to MATERIALGIRL's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Big time normal! One of the more common symptoms, in fact. And when I say BIG, well yeah... Some folks have to wear only expandable pants -

ARCHIVED Your Story

ARCHIVED Possible Soy Problems Now?
mushroom replied to Lycopene's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I don't think you can judge your reactions to soy by how everyone else reacts, because we all react in our own different ways. Soy makes me itch, or alternatively it sends my heart into crazy electrical activity. But then I react differently than most people do to everything If you wanted to know, try eliminating the soy and substituting almond or hemp... -
ARCHIVED More Susceptible To Colds And Flu Now?
mushroom replied to book-worm's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I think you're due for a break. Everything I've read indicates that once your body stops fighting the gluten it is better able to fight the things it should be fighting. I miss out on that benefit because I have to suppress my immune system to fight my RA, so while I don't get the colds or flu any more easily, if I do get them it's that much harder tp... -

ARCHIVED I Am Thinking This Is Hogwash- Super Gluten
mushroom replied to Wolicki's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi Benji: I don't know where you are currently based, but we obviously share some of the same concerns. Like you, for years I shared that problem with my legs - a total tightness, like every ligament. tendon and muscle was stretched taut and would snap at least excuse. I underwent years of excruciating massage in order to be able to sleep at night... -
ARCHIVED Still Want To Live Life! But Nervous...
mushroom replied to The Glutenator's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Believe it or not, I am always a bit nervous when I come to the U.S. , away from the safety of what I know. However, of course I have this handy reference guide right here to keep me on the right path. Every country has different ways of doing food, but where I go to in Nevada has to be the gluten capital of the U.S. Someone even asked me if that was... -
ARCHIVED Anyone Ever Consider Opening A gluten-free Bakery?
mushroom replied to mznia504's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
We have only one gluten free (dedicated) bakery that I know of in our city of 300,000 and they just keep expanding.... But still small enough for individualized attention - they bake special batches for me without potato starch Many people will not trust shared facilities; I know I won't. Go for it. -

ARCHIVED Unsafe Ingredients By Number?
mushroom replied to Jessie A's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Hi, Jessie: I have to admit to being a bit embarrassed about not being able to come up with this information right offhand. I know that the numbers 1421.... are okay, but I used to be able to find this online. Now I find that they have taken it offline and published it in a booklet , which you have to buy as follows: Open Original Shared Link... -
ARCHIVED Safeway Select
mushroom replied to les.retrouvailles's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
They are required to label wheat. If there were barley in it that could account for the gluten. Barley is not one of the major allergens. It would be great if we could get wheat changed to gluten
