  1. Thanks for the commiseration, and thanks everyone else for helpful advice. I SHALL KNOW BETTER next time. (I waited till dinner to set off the smoke alarm with burned chicken (eewww!), but at least we now know--in spades--that our wired in alarm system works, cos there's no other way to test it. Kitty did not appreciate it.
  2. Only problem is, with global travel, it gets everywhere so quickly. We had two classes of Spanish language students go to Mexico during school hols, and half of one class (the one that went to Mexico City) came home with it. There were 357 other people on the flight back and some of them didn't give address destinations so on it goes. No, I'm not being...
  3. Yep, same goes for me, once I healed up a bit. I had a sniffle the other day and had almost forgotten what it was like and then I just took some C and blam, gone.
  4. Wait a minute here, I is fried already! Keep the heat off me. Drowning in eggs and cheese?? GAAH If I has to go, make it ice cream and chocolate please Look under the bed, Jess; they is always under the bed. Even the rat what got into my house was under da bed (well, when he wasn't making a nest under the recliner or hiding behind the heatilator...
  5. And here I is all this time walking around, not knowing I was supposed to be whacked out, but instead smelling of orange blossom [b/] I post when the spirit moves me when I have time when I can't sleep when nobody else is on the computer. We only has one itsy bitsy little owl here, and he's called a morepork , a hog eater!, who woulda...
  6. Hello, and welcome to the forum. A lot of your symptoms could be suggestive of celiac, as you have obviously concluded yourself. Is it not possible for a GP to order a celiac blood panel in the UK or is that reserved for specialists? I know, I am still getting used to the little domains that specialists carve out for themselves here in NZ, (only a...
  7. Okay, so I bake this delicious-sounding
  8. I don't want this to seem flip or sarcastic, cos it's not meant that way, but have you tried splitting up your meals and saving a small one for just before you go to bed??
  9. I've just about given up on products with vinegar (of any kind) because most of them just state VINEGAR! Hello,?? that's not enough, you know! What kind of vinegar would that be. Living in a country with strong British roots it is most likely malt. They don't even say that, let alone whether they brewed or distilled it. Goodness only knows, there...
  10. I am a bit more concerned than the average gal. While my immune system has improved heaps since going gluten free, I am now taking Humira, which suppresses it. My rheumy told me it would not make me more likely to catch something but if I did catch it I would have a harder time fighting it off. I am bringing my Tamiflu with me in June.
  11. Thank for posting that Amber. (I don't need the translation  )
  12. Valium!
  13. Our condo HOA (Nevada) requires copies of keys. In a multi-unit structure you can see why it could be important--if you are absent and there is a leaking roof, eg., to check for water damage and prevent it. I don't think it is something you should feel all paranoid about.
  14. Hi Brian, and welcome. The disappearance of your symptoms would seem to implicate gluten as the culprit for your stomach troubles, whether gluten intolerance or celiac. Could the depression be a separate issue for you, or did the two seem to go hand in hand for you, if you remember?
  15. A gluten challenge is a valid diagnostic tool. Ten days of gluten eating would not have been enough time to manufacture the antibodies you were trying to measure since you had been gluten free for so long, sorry to say. They usually say six to eight weeks, which you probably wouldn't even want to contemplate
  16. Okay, ya gotta teach me, how do ya do a 'shroom?? You would think I oughta/should know, just in case someone asks or sumfing. Oh, and the lemon meringue pie looks all gorgeous and scrumptious and I wanna cut into it right now (drop that knife) but I have to wait five hours!!!
  17. Because not all cakes are frosted Gottaski: so glad your boy's bday cake turned out so yummy. He will luv it. What a good mum.
  18. Gidday psillies, from down under. Only tis'nt a good day because I did this big looong post and got the multiple quotey thingy going and said all these hilarious things about polly knee shuns and romantic canucks, the joys of air travel, and cat barf and bruised bruises, and they all vanished into cybernet. Poopy cow Can't even stay here because...
  19. It is almost impossible to tell from looking at the pictures. It could be caused by some other food intolerance. If it is scaly it could be psoriasis although it does not normally first appear on the face. I have it on my face now and it looks different from that. Does it have any bumps/blisters/heads, or is it just red?. When we go gluten-free our...
  20. Okay, so what Poeter says is WRONG None of those other quotes I clicked made their appearance in expected place. Oh well, back to the drawing board. G'night to all sleepy sillies. Must think about what to have for dinner and me pre-dining cocktail(s). 'shroom
  21. OMG Greg, I am so sorry to hear that. How awful for you. My heart goes out to you.{{{Hugs}}}}
  22. Not everything revolves around food, I keep trying to tell myself, and then she goes and tries to make a food connection. We do have a very good Sophie's, but no, you missed the start of that story, which involved an inspirational one-legged paralympic swimmer (only 15) from NZ who won three gold medals at Beijing and became the toast of the nation, kind...
  23. Nope. no misunderstanding there at all. That's exactly how it is. Sometimes the pharmacist can find out, sometimes not. I have been bitten by medications at least five times in the last year; one I didn't even realize because they said the side effects could be so bad that I thought it was the side effects; stopped taking it and found out later the side...
  24. Thanks for the welcome guys. You have *no* idea how long I has actually been here wifout youse knowing it tho Y'all get up way too early in the mornin' for me, are way too productive, and go to bed way too early as well.
