  1. A big welcome to you both. First of all, take a big breath and let it out. It's really not that bad, just a bit overwhelming at first until you get the hang of it. Next, Rosy, you are going to have to try to get your family to work with you on this. You can't be cooking two meals every night, you'll exhaust yourself. Set up some rules and make them...
  2. WOW!! world's most expensive cognac, got a hot! date on Monday night, two parties in one night...hard to keep up with this lot. And here's me still in me robe (not the regal kind) and reading the paper because it's Sunday. Scuse me while I go get gussied up.
  3. Stevia is the only sweetener I use other than sugar.
  4. The wait staff obviously don't get it. Yes, I think you should tell them. Could it have been the gravy?
  5. Fish, rice if you can do it for some fibre, applesauce, no raw fruits or vegetables, cook everything. Make it very easily digestible; meat is not easy. See if that helps.
  6. Good mornin' psills. Almost phrosty this morn; t'is getting to be time to phly north real quick, too soon. Was starting to think I shouldn't do it, what with the hog flu and all, but since its here wif us already (day after it was announced even), what the hae! NZ has decided not to be politically correct (Yay) and still calls it swine flu (guess we...
  7. Thanks. Hate not being "in" on sumfing Am thinkin of Bev cavorting with stripping firemen, glass of absinthe in hand--may all your dreams come true Saturday here, spent most of it trying to get Barb on line cos her computer keeps trying to dial in to our broadband--stoopid computer. Stoopid peep trying to help her. Had to send in the...
  8. Gads, that was SO funny. "Think missile lifting off" T'was an experience I'll never forget, but my prep was called something different (but was equally foul). And then I had to do it all again the very next week for a scan!! All that salt!! My ankles swelled and have never gone down since :(
  9. From what you've said, sounds to me like she doesn't want to know whether or not they are celiac because she doesn't want the inconvenience of having to prepare gluten free food for them I agree you should arrange to get their doctor involved to tell your ex they need to be tested, and if they are celiac she will be a bad mom if she doesn't accommodate...
  10. Wheresoever Shroomie is, there she be from, only she don't sound like she from anywhere when she's there Barb arrived and she is loverly and from our conversation at dinner, this lady is one of us. Wheat allergy, like heck. She was full-blown. Night all, have a good day. I is pooped. No, not that kind. Shroom...
  11. The best advice around here seems to be to forget about the box of gluten free processed food and just eat the fruits, vegetables, fish, meat, rice, nuts, seeds for a while. Often the gluten free grains are hard to digest and the products themselves are often laden with things we don't normally eat (like soy), so it's best to start shopping around the outside...
  12. One suggestion would be to avoid the nightshade family (potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant). Of the three diseases, I have only psoriatic arthritis which did not respond to gluten-free In addition to gluten free, I recently eliminated nightshades as the consensus on the forum and other places is that these aggravate inflammation. I am currently...
  13. I had problems with a B12 sublingual too, only it contained Mannitol, but I tested myself with Mannitol alone and had no problem. My side effect was an acne-like all over my face
  14. Susan, you go girl! Jennifer is right; you are not trying to quit smoking, you HAVE quit smoking is the attitude to have. It will be tough at first but, oh, so worth it. And all of you, you will get your happy back, I promise. For me it took six months.
  15. Spent yesterday afternoon shouting at an old lady I visit (mother of my late best friend) whose hearing aid was out for repairs; GAWD, she really is deaf as a post. Thank God she likes to talk -and talk, and talk- so I phinally phiguredI could just sit there with this sweet smile and nod in affirmation every now and again, or frown, and move my lips occasionally...
  16. Acrylic is not the answer for those with split nails, especially if they split from the top, because moisture can get in underneath and cause fungal infection (personal experience). I would rather have the splits.
  17. Welcome to the forum. To me, your symptoms are shouting "celiac"; I'm not sure why your doctors can't hear it: failure to thrive as a child anemia diarrhea and constipation kidney infections and UTI's miscarriage and difficult pregnancies Hashimoto's fibromyalgia psoriatic arthritis Vit D and B12 deficiency hypoglycemia adrenal...
  18. On yer foot??? Dear GAAAWD!! X100
  19. wschmucks, have you tried asking through the American Embassy. They often have good connections. At least they might steer you to a good person to steer you to someone else. Is your appt. (today I guess) in Paris?
  20. I used to take 5 mg valium but just before bed. It really helped. I have idiosyncratic reactions to lots of stuff, the opposite of what they are supposed to do. Sleeping pills keep me awake, anti-depressants make me depressed, etc., so try not to take anything new. Good for you, for keeping busy.
  21. Don't feel bad about being confused; most of us are in one way or another. Like, i have never heard of guar gum as having soy in it. I probably consume so little of and have so many itches that I am not aware of consuming it if it does have. I would be surprised though. I break out in very itch red rash from soy. So like you, chocolate is a problem...
  22. No my doc thought my readings were okay, I guess. My main problem is that I am always COLD (shiver). Even when it's 75 degrees. As to how I feel, I really don't know. Low energy and stamina, but haven't felt well for so long I don't know if this is as good as it gets. Things did improve gluten free and with the addition of B12 injections, folate, and...
  23. Nutralady, what do you think of these readings: Free T4 14.2 (12.0-22.0) TSH: 3.62 (0.28-4.20) Free T3 3.3 (3.1-6.8) Comments much appreciated.
  24. Oh yes, we take our yacht to the Riviera and meander to Monaco and have a Nice time altogether when we Cannes. (Otherwise we would just go to Lake Tahoe.)
  25. That's where the Valium comes in. Seriously, could not have slept at night (which is only time I took it) without it. My muscles were rigid and aching.
