  1. Is this the EGD the GI ordered in December? Probably is, given the intervening holidays, etc. We will be interested to hear your results with a gluten-full diet.
  2. Hahahaha - you are always having such a good time, Ms. Bunnie!!! Well, the internet now knows you make delicious roast chicken, at least in your own estimation
  3. I had a whole foods store (not Whole Foods) tell me that tapioca was the same thing as arrowroot ; I said I don't think so....... It is very expensive here too - one little biddy box costs like $6.00; barely enough to thicken something with, let alone bake. Then a couple of days ago I saw "arrowroot substitute" and it was tapioca. Certainly cheaper but...
  4. I certainly did read your topic. You were the one who stated that no biopsies were taken; I now see that you were referring to none from the 2nd part. Based on your statement I assumed what you had reported initially as 'results of biopsies' was his procedure report which did seem rather detailed for the naked eye. I do think, if I were you, I would...
  5. Yes - it is hard to imagine that is a 'dumping' price. Otherwise surely someone is gouging
  6. I really can't imagine either of them being a problem, per se. I just happen to not like canola oil and also the fact it is genetically modified stuff always turns me off. As I say, I eat Costco tuna all the time. The only way to figure out if you do have a problem with either is to try them separately.
  7. bartfull has a good suggestion. I won't eat canola either unless I am desperate. Why don't you try using light olive oil? It doesn't have the strong taste of regular extra virgin olive oil. Sunflower is okay but I think we all get enough omega-6.
  8. I eat Costco's tuna all the time; in fact it's the only tuna I eat.
  9. You say no biopsies were taken?? None at all? Certainly the report doesn't mention any and yet you talk about 'report of biopsies'. One wouldl think with villous blunting that one would want to rule out celiac disease rather than just say, oh, that's PD The reason for biopsies, after all, is to see what one cannot see with the naked eye.
  10. Man, that is a dilemma! Since Jesse won't help Max with homework, any chance of cooperation in getting him some tutoring help after school? (for the days when you can't be there). Is work totally immovable / not budging on what they 'want' you to do? i.e., are they insisting ? Just shows to go you, NEVAH go on vacation !! You don't know what they'll...
  11. Absolutely they are all relevant and should be considered. Problem is, if her total IgA level is normal, the IgA tests are a little more relevant than the IgG, is my understanding. What was her total IgA, and the range the lab uses for someone her age?
  12. Incredible! They are just like the airport people. An airport waitress told me, people who eat here don't care what they eat so long as it's food
  13. Whew! I know what a relief that must be for you, to find an answer after all that suffering Make sure she does the testing to confirm your self diagnosis, and do keep us informed of how you progress. Fire away with any questions that come up.
  14. No, I agree, if you are going ahead with the allergy testing don't cut out the wheat. It will not affect the allergy testing but you don't want to return to the GI with diarrhea cured Then you won't know where you are. Of course she may test sensitive to wheat and then that will have to be one of the things you cut. If I were you and that happened...
  15. Labs normally give ranges for their scores. E.g., let's posit that a score of <5 would be negative (0-4); 5-9 weak positive; >10 positive. Each lab sets their own ranges for the scores based on their particular testing. This would mean that if the ranges were as I set forth he could have a score anywhere between 5 and 9. Now obviously, there is...
  16. Right. She does not necessarily have to be a failure to thrive toddler to have celiac although that is a fairly typical childhood presentation. I guess her reasoning is to cut out all things she tests positive to on skinprick and if she still has diarrhea then she might reconsider You could still end up getting a 'piece of paper' out of her farther...
  17. Hello and welcome to the board. I assume you had your son tested after your diagnosis five years ago with negative result. It is highly possible that in the interim he could have developed celiac. It would be good to know one way or the other particularly if he is not thriving. A blood test is not terribly invasive I know you don't like to subject...
  18. Akshually, it doesn't sound like we've been searching very hard
  19. You say, "could" they be safe? There are three ways they could be safe: 1 - No cross-contamination took place 2 - There was some cc, but it was less than say 5 ppm. 3 - There was a greater level of cross-contamination but it did not reach your own particular threshold. This is why there is no blanket answer to questions such as this.
  20. Okay, I can do that too -- well.... except for the peppers! Have to have mushrooms instead heh-heh. And some garlic
  21. Haven't seen any lying around recently. If I were to, I might use it myself though
  22. Some of us will react to quinoa for other reasons, even if it is totally gluten free. Just another aspect to consider, same as gluten free oats.
  23. My own theory is that celiac disease is just one form of gluten intolerance
  24. Psoriatic arthritis was the impetus for me (from arthritis patients and from what I had read) to stop eating gluten. The disappearance of my GI symptoms was an unexpected bonus
  25. Diagnosis is a really tough hurdle for some if the issue is not straightforward. It's an especially high hurdle if there hasn't been much gluten ingested at all (she would have been exposed through your breast milk while she was breast feeding, but after that was off for 10 months and then back on for three.) Gluten has been a pretty much up and down road...
