  1. well, of course the symptoms come back, it's a chronic disease, an auto immune disorder, don't these people know anything? a gluten free diet is a viable treatment, in fact it's the only one. it's not so bad, it's just food. It's not like my husband's crohns, where he takes 19 pills a day and then is still sick as a dog. At least we can...
  2. Open Original Shared Link I found this ^^ link for you, most of the foods on the "don't eat it" list are full of gluten anyway, how long have you been gluten free? maybe it will clear up with a few more minor changes to diet.
  3. tell them your body chemicals are out of whack because you have been sick, and that you are trying to fix it. or tell them to mind their own business (I seriously don't know what to tell them) have you read up on the diet that's for yeast overgrowth? it's like no sugar and stuff (I don't remember I looked it up for someone else once) I hear that...
  4. I was diagnosed, we never did anything about it, the doctor was kinda "live with it" so I have been. I didn't know you could do anything about it. I am mega sick and in pain the day before and during my period. I have been so physically ill before that people called 911, only to get to the hospital get some pain meds, where I could explain...
  5. last I checked the crispy rice had malt in it......however if that's no longer true, then I can eat my fav. candy bar again!
  6. what's wrong with freckles? I always wanted some. maybe you can give me yours
  7. that confused me, until I found this.... Open Original Shared Link which when you scroll down and put A for both parents then the thing says you can get A, or O so, I believe you LOL (not that I didn't but since hubby and I are both O it was explained that our kids had to be, but I guess that's different for different blood types and didn't know until...
  8. Our house is 90% gluten free now (with the exception of some of hubby's snacks) but when it wasn't all the gluten was out of reach for my girls and they had a "safe snack cabinet" that had healthy gluten free stuff for them. That way they could get their own snacks and I didn't have to check everything every single time. Also, I don't keep gluten in my...
  9. Our kitchen is 90% gluten free, but before it was I tried to think of gluten as poison, so I would wash my hands and my kitchen the same way I would if there were arsnic loose in there. gluten-free community foods (PB jelly mayo, butter ect. ) dedicated toaster dedicated kitchen counters ect. like I said we are almost 100% gluten free now...
  10. as far as I know, unless a Kraft product says wheat, then it doesn't have any. I still call on their modified food starch but whenever I have seen it without any specification it has never been wheat. does that make any sense?
  11. I think we used to get bags at the restraunt supply that were for cooking in... don't know what they were made of but they sure looked like ziplocks.
  12. don't know if someone posted this yet, but Open Original Shared Link says she has Celiac.
  13. haha, hubby and I are both O+ and so are the girls, someone made reference once (one of those mean people you warned me about yesterday) that the youngest kid didn't look anything like my husband (the oldest really really does look like him) and I said "yeah, I am sure I had an affair "excuse me sir, before we get any further, can I type your blood...
  14. mine wasn't ever anything but wonderful. however, after cuddles have improved due to my lack of sharp tummy pains. I can be super happy about that.
  15. don't eat them cold that's for sure! I did that it was BAD!! If you are grilling out your burgers, you can put a little butter on the flat side and toast them on the grill, I have a sneeking suspicion that would also work on the stove top. I used to know how to steam them in the microwave, but I can't remember the details.
  16. get a different doctor? a lot of time it depends on what you go in with, get a "second opinion" and tell them straight out that you think the test was a false neg. and that you are looking for support on trying the gluten free diet as a diagnostic tool, and that the only way to do that is to get a note from the doctor. It's quite possible that the new...
  17. wow! the websites and numbers are very helpful. thank you for posting that. I am going to start getting updated gluten free lists today!
  18. depending on how bad you were damaged 5 months really isn't enough time to feel 100% most people (adults) can take up to a year to feel a lot better. Did you improve at all? even a little bit? if you have celiac, eating any gluten will damage your intestines, no matter how little or for how short of a time, however you must be on gluten for a while to...
  19. agreed. I never really rely on odds anyway, even if I did know them, murphy's law applies to me so often it's not funny. Unless I am 100% sure it's safe I don't eat it (and then still I get sick sometimes........)
  20. O+ so are both my girls, we all have Celiac.
  21. if you are fine being gluten free, I would just tell the doctor that. A firm diagnosis isn't going to do much for you, you will be gluten free after that right? Unless you have a really really good reason for "needing to know' or needing an "actual diagnosis" I would trust your gut and not go on gluten for a test. Besides you have to eat a lot of gluten...
  22. I really hate to rain on your parade but a lot of that stuff is out of date. For example the Carnation instant breakfast Strawberry cream is no longer gluten free, even with a list like that you still have to read everything every time. Although it could be a good jumping off point.
  23. I am not a teen anymore *sighs* but when I was I was vegan and so I couldn't eat at prom. A group of my friends and I went out and ate somewhere "safe" and then showed up.......fashionably late. It seemed to work out for us.
  24. my husband's family has problems too, but they are much healthier, when one of them said something to me that hurt my feelings I said "when you joke about that, it hurts my feelings" and they appologized and it hasn't been brought up since. That's the kind of people I want my kids around, people who care. It's not like we never argue or get our feelings...
  25. Carla that is exactly the type of thing that goes on in my family. My husband said the other day that if I got some weird disease that could only be treated in one hospital over seas that my family would quit speaking to me because I didn't die close to home where they could see me, instead of getting a cure far away.......and he is right, that is exactly...
