It sounds like good news! I'm surprised that Sweden isn't better, as Scandinavian countries have the highest rates of celiac disease, and they supposedly have a much higher awareness of it. In any case, you may want to look into GliadinX enzymes, they are a sponsor here, but they have been shown in multiple studies to break down small amounts of gluten in...

Positive blood negative biopsy
Scott Adams replied to Randommuwa's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Given your symptoms, and elevated "weak positive" results, it would make sense for you to go gluten-free to see if it helps resolve your symptoms. I realize that this was your first screening, but this new study is interesting because it finds that most kids with persistently high antibodies in the weak positive range do in fact have celiac disease: It... -

Allergist recommendations? Anyone?
Scott Adams replied to Lotte18's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
There isn't a specific timeline that would be the same for everyone, and, of course, it varies greatly depending on how strict your gluten-free diet is. I recall that it took some people several months to a year to drop that much. Also, it seems that in some people casein sensitivity can keep TTG levels from dropping to normal levels, so some people may also... -
Follow up required?
Scott Adams replied to Abcdefghi's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
We will be doing a summary of this recent study, and it's focused on kids, but I think it's important and can apply to many cases of "weak positive" results for TTG: https://journals.lww.com/jpgn/Abstract/2021/05000/Diagnostic_Value_of_Persistently_Low_Positive.16.aspx -

There are home test kits available for ~$100 and you get the results back in a few days, for example: https://www.imaware.health/at-home-blood-test/celiac-disease-screening You do need to keep eating gluten daily for at least 6-8 weeks before the test results will be valid, and this includes any follow up biopsy that the doctor may order. -

Welcome to the forum! It's doubtful that not eating any gluten for only 1-2 days before your test will affect your results by much. It's possible any antibodies measured will be very slightly lower, but if you have celiac disease, those levels should still be high enough to make a diagnosis. It's also possible, of course, that you have non-celiac gluten...

Is there a chance that you have an issue with nightshades? Many celiacs seem to also have issues with them. -
The time it takes for a DH breakout after eating gluten can vary greatly from person to person, as well as how long the breakout will last. For many with DH the breakout happens within a day of eating gluten, but some people report 2-4 days after. For some it can go away in a few days, but others have reported that a breakout can list for 2 weeks or longer...

Gluten free Flatbread
Scott Adams replied to flyingswede's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Out of curiosity, do you know why Finland's flour would be different? Do they, for example, use a sourdough-type fermentation process on it, or use einkorn, a more ancient wheat variety? If so, that could explain why it might contain less gluten. If not, I don't see why it would work for either celiacs or those with gluten sensitivity. There are codex wheat... -
How long to heal?
Scott Adams replied to Makky's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Not everyone fully recovers with the gluten-free diet alone, and this article covers additional things that may be helpful in case you are in that group: -
Out of the scenarios you brought up it seems more likely that someone with advanced celiac disease could have a higher white blood cell count, possibly due to the gut lesions that can be caused by untreated celiac disease, which is a sign of your body fighting off an infection. When you have such lesions your body is, in fact, fighting off infection all the...

How long to heal?
Scott Adams replied to Makky's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Welcome to the forum! It can take up to two years for your gut to fully heal: Most people, like myself, begin to feel better very soon after starting a 100% gluten-free diet, and their health continues to improve for months afterwards. -

COVID-19 a Possible Trigger for Celiac Disease in Those with Genetic Risk
Scott Adams commented on Scott Adams's article in Latest Research
There is no known link between the MMR vaccine and getting celiac disease, or for that matter, any other condition that I'm aware of. When it comes to vaccines, please share peer reviewed published scientific studies, not "hormeonesmatter.com" type links. If such a study gets published, we'll be happy to cover it here. Of course you can speculate eternally...- 70 comments
