  1. I think this symptom, and the brain fog, are possible reasons why so many doctors try to prescribe anti-anxiety, anti-depressants, etc., and try to explain gluten sensitivity away as a psychological issue.
  2. Hi Alan, welcome to the forum! I think that your health is your first concern, and to me it sounds like you are doing a very good job taking care of yourself, which will probably help you a great deal with managing your school life. You've got lots of time to date and meet others, so I would not worry too much about this aspect of life. Believe it or...
  3. Yes, welcome! The 2nd worse symptom to my diarrhea was vertigo, or the feeling like things were spinning or I was falling, which also caused me to have panic attacks. The good news is that going gluten-free should fairly quickly resolve your symptoms, but be sure you fully understand the gluten-free diet. This article might help:
  4. Celiac.com 07/21/2021 - Even with a clear declaration by the FDA that all distilled alcohol is gluten-free, we still get a lot of questions about alcohol, and cocktails. Specifically, get a lot of questions about gluten-free cocktails...
  5. I'm sorry to hear you ate gluten. Please see this article, as it might be helpful:
  6. To me it seems reasonable to make the same connection in adults that this study makes with children. There have been too many people who have had the same experience here--antibody tests just below the cut off level and were told they were fine, keep eating gluten--yet their chronic symptoms would not go away until they went gluten-free. My own daughter falls...
  7. Welcome to the board! I'm not sure if you're trying to explain the later vaccine speculation in this topic, or the high red blood cell issue that some of us have discussed. I've been gluten-free for over 25 years, so it would be doubtful that my eating gluten before my diagnosis would trigger my high red blood cell condition for life. My guess is that my...
  8. Welcome to the forum Christine! Even trace amount of gluten, especially over time, can add up and cause serious health issues to anyone with celiac disease. I started taking a couple of GliadinX (they are a sponsor here--AN-PEP enzymes have been shown in studies to break down gluten before it reaches your intestines) before I eat outside my home, just in...
  9. So if I understand your post, she has celiac disease, which can cause the lesions often referred to as "collagenous sprue," and you are wanting to use this as an excuse not to get vaccinated? I believe that this is a very poor choice, especially if she's going to a university in the Fall. The vaccine may save her from being hospitalized or even dying from...
  10. I think not getting it would be a serious mistake that could cost your life, but clearly people are making such decisions. The overwhelming evidence shows that all the vaccines are safe, and very effective at keeping you out of the hospital, and from dying from what is a very contagious disease.
  11. You might try duck eggs. I can get them at farmer's markets, Asian markets (make sure there isn't a red marker mark on them--ask for fresh eggs), and some higher end supermarkets (they are often used in French pastries).
  12. The article below may be helpful if you're still having symptoms, and going dairy-free, at least for a couple of months, might be a good idea. In my daughter's case we believe it was possible celiac disease causing the issue, but her antibody tests came back just under the cut off for celiac disease, so she's officially non-celiac gluten sensitive....
  13. It would be a good idea to get it checked out, so going to your doctor is a good idea. It's possible that it's a totally unrelated symptom, but in my daughter's case she had the same symptom whenever she ate gluten.
  14. Cutting back on the amount of Omeprazole likely caused more acid to be produced in your stomach, which makes digestion easier, so perhaps you need to be on a lower dose, or don't need to be on it at all, but be sure to discuss this with your doctor. This article covers continuing symptoms after going gluten-free, so it may be helpful: <___base_url__...
  15. I doubt that alkaline water would be helpful for celiac disease symptoms, but it seems to be the latest fad now. Beware that one brand has been linked to at least one death, and many illnesses: https://www.fda.gov/food/outbreaks-foodborne-illness/investigation-acute-non-viral-hepatitis-illnesses-real-water-brand-alkaline-water-march-2021
  16. Welcome to the forum! I do wonder in your case if the marks come from holding your baby with your left arm, which sounds possible. If you do have an iron deficiency be sure to get screened for celiac disease, as this forum is here to help those on a gluten-free diet due to gluten sensitivity or celiac disease.
  17. Stomach issues are listed as the known side effects of each covid-19 vaccine, so it isn't surprising that you had this side-effect. My wife, who doesn't have celiac disease or gluten sensitivity, had stomach issues for around 1 week after receiving her 2nd dose of Moderna. The good news is that the vaccine may save you from being hospitalized or even dying...
  18. Welcome to the forum @Drmthomas! I doubt that contact sports would be in any way linked to a trigger for celiac disease, at least I've never seen any studies that indicate this, but there are known viruses that have been linked. @BNGed8 it sounds like your throat issues could be your body's way of telling you to cut back on the cigars!
  19. It seems unlikely that you would develop an allergy within the last few weeks, and it’s possible that it’s a new reaction to gluten contamination. Some people get very sensitive to gluten after they stop eating it.
  20. Can I assume that you are now on a gluten-free diet, and went on it sometime after 2019? If you were eating gluten daily back at the time you had this outbreak, it would be very unusual, but not impossible, for it to go away. Most people with DH get the outbreak chronically while they eat any gluten, and it usually will go away when you've been gluten...
  21. Welcome to the forum! I would go with a gluten-removed beer like Omission, rather than a regular, low gluten beer like Corona or Bud Light. We did an article on various gluten-free and gluten removed beers which might give you more ideas:
  22. Yes, I doubt this could be a source of gluten for you. I suppose, if you're really concerned about it you could always wheat a covid-type mask while you changed the sheets. Also, have you had your son tested for celiac disease? If you have it he has an ~44% chance of also having it. Bed wetting, at least if he's older, can be a symptom.
  23. @BNGed8 this sounds a bit like it might be an allergic reaction, so you may want to consider getting food allergy testing done. Normally your symptoms would include itchiness, but not always. Does this happen if you get gluten in your diet, or are you gluten-free and this is happening when you eat other things? My daughter's primary symptom before...
