  1. Celiac.com 08/02/2021 - Researchers currently know very little about the causative molecular pathways underlying the development of celiac disease. A team of researchers recently set out to discover new aspects of celiac disease formation...
  2. Yes, "gluten light" isn't a good option for those with celiac disease. It will only lead to serious health issues.
  3. There is a follow up article to this, but the issue was due to a box car of contaminated oats that was used. This was at the very beginning of their switch to "gluten-free" Cheerios. They did a press release admitting the error, and moved on long ago. This is not an ongoing issue, and was a one time incident.
  4. As mentioned, the GFCO and the other certification organization will only certify if the product is below 10ppm, so to be certified they will need to meet this requirement: Open Original Shared Link “Gluten-Free: The presence of gluten at 10 parts per million (“ppm”) or less (or the regulatory threshold of the country of sale, whichever is lower...
  5. Welcome to the forum! Many people with untreated celiac disease end up with casein (cow’s milk protein) intolerance and/or lactose intolerance, but not necessarily cow’s milk allergy, which is different. In these cases cow’s milk can’t be broken down properly during digestion due to damaged villi in the intestines. I had this issue and it ...
  6. I do think home test kits can be reliable, but like anything, read some reviews about the different ones out there?
  7. It could be beneficial for many reasons, take a look at this: https://www.livescience.com/centenarians-gut-bacteria-aging-bile-acids.html
  8. The CDC recommends that people with most auto immune diseases should get the vaccine, including those with celiac disease and diabetes. The reason for this recommendation is because they are in a group that could have a much worse outcome if they get it then those without auto immune diseases.
  9. I don’t believe this pizza is certified gluten-free, but is certainly labeled gluten-free. Certified gluten-free would mean that it contains less than 10 ppm while just labeled Gluten-Free means it must be under 20 ppm.
  10. I think the recommendation is eating that much gluten for 2 weeks before a biopsy, but if you’re in pain, and you’ve got a very high positive blood test, there may be no need for the biopsy if you cannot wait that long. If you went gluten-free and it relieved your symptoms it would confirm your diagnosis. Perhaps discuss this with your doctor and the...
  11. This article might be helpful:
  12. @BNGed8 it looks like you have your answer, and the Tylenol Extra Strength Rapid Release Gels that you were taking is the source of the trace amounts of gluten. If the other vitamins are flagged as gluten-free by Amazon they are likely gluten-free, or at least they don't contain any gluten ingredients.
  13. Celiac.com 07/30/2021 (Revised 08/10/2021) - We get a lot of questions from celiac community members wondering if certain brands and products are gluten-free. One question we see a lot is about pizza. Recent news that California...
  14. In super sensitive people, like those with dermatitis herpetiformis, it might matter. Skin contact does matter for many of them, and "experts" have claimed for years that skin contact with gluten does not matter to those with either celiac disease or DH. No studies have been done on this that I know of, and Celiac.com takes the position that those with gluten...
  15. Most cases of this go away on their own, and it is treatable. From the CDC site above: "Patients can usually return to their normal daily activities after their symptoms improve. They should speak with their doctor about return to exercise or sports."
  16. Thanks for pointing this study out, and it does reveal what I and many others on this forum have known for a long time. Many doctors don't even know that their patients need to be eating gluten regularly before you can test for celiac disease, so imagine how many people are being told that they don't have celiac disease because of their false-negative results...
  17. I hope that you're diet is 100% gluten-free, and if not, that is the first place to start. Also, do you work out or get regular exercise? I find that when I don't exercise enough I get fatigued easily. Another thing to consider would be additional food intolerance issues, like casein/dairy.
  18. Celiac.com 07/29/2021 - Ukko, a company focused on developing artificial-intelligence designed products and solutions to food allergies, just announced a successful $40 million funding round. Their first effort will be to develop...
  19. Yes, this seems to be a common issue reported here, which can also be related to untreated celiac disease or gluten intolerance. My daughter has non-celiac gluten sensitivity and her primary symptom before going gluten-free was the feeling that food was stuck in her throat, which caused her to have issues swallowing.
