  1. I too would go with regular wheat bread, but perhaps you can find an organic and/or whole-grain one that doesn’t use Roundup?
  2. Celiac.com 08/28/2021 - Here are some great gluten-free cocktails to make with Seagram's 7 whiskey. For more great gluten-free drink ideas, check out the Seagram's 7 website. The 7 & 7 An absolute classic for summer, or anytime...
  3. I've never used such an oven, but before I bought a bread machine, which I have used, you may want to first try doing it in your oven to see how it turns out. It may work just fine. Some people love bread machines, but they can be expensive, and some don't do such a great job of mixing, and bread can sometimes turn out poorly. We have many recipes here...
  4. You might want to take a look at the various "All purpose flour mixes" here, just to get some ideas: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/gluten-free-recipes/gluten-free-flour-mixes/
  5. Celiac.com 08/26/2021 - We get a lot of questions about what types of foods, products, and brands are gluten-free. We also get a lot of questions about diet, not just the gluten-free diet. One questions we've seen a lot recently is about...
  6. I can simply change your screen name, no need to create a new account. Please just PM me what you'd like it to be, and include 3 choices. The reason it's not easier to change this is due to spammers being able to hide easier if they can change their own screen names.
  7. Thank you for the update, and sorry to hear of your official diagnosis, but I'm glad that you can now treat this with a gluten-free diet and hopefully recover 100%. Good on you for pushing your doctor to get the biopsy! You may want to get tested for vitamin and mineral deficiencies, and you will likely need to start supplements (which are gluten-free of...
  8. It's an interesting approach for sure, but if possible I'd recommend that you get an old fashioned blood test from your doctor or a licensed medical lab for any vitamin or mineral deficiencies.
  9. I don't believe that you were misdiagnosed, because a diagnosis of DH does not require a positive biopsy of damaged villi in your intestines. Additionally, in Europe anyway, they are diagnosing celiac disease now when people receive a positive celiac antibody test that is 10x the level for celiac disease, which is true in your case:
  10. Yes, unfortunately he should eat gluten until all tests are done, unless he's already sure gluten is causing his symptoms, and it certainly sounds that way. Just remember that if he does go gluten-free now the real test will be the relief of symptoms, and he may never get a formal diagnosis. You have to weigh out how important this is, and certainly good...
  11. I would urge you to try to quit gluten again. Have you tried this new pizza? Yes, it contains "gluten-free" wheat starch, and the last few batches I've tested were gluten-free, but it tastes like the real thing...so binge on it instead of gluten: If you want to change your screen name send me a personal message with three choices.
  12. Hi Tim, welcome to the forum...please post any questions you have here: https://www.celiac.com/forums/
  13. Celiac.com 08/25/2021 - For people who are old, pregnant, or suffering from compromised immune systems, listeriosis is a serious food-borne illness that is fatal for about 20 percent of patients, even with antibiotic treatment. Now...
  14. I also want to mention that if you wanted to be screened for celiac disease using a blood test, that you need to keep eating gluten for at least 6-8 weeks before the test. You could, of course, just try the diet to see if it helps, but this approach could also cost you knowing whether or not you have celiac disease (~1% of the population). Unfortunately...
  15. I've never heard of a hair analysis test to determine allergies or food sensitivities, so I can't speak to that. Can you share more about this test? I'm a bit skeptical here, but it's certainly possible that there is a newer technology or medical test that I'm not aware of.
  16. So your tTg was negative, so likely no celiac disease, but given your symptoms you can’t rule out NCGS, so perhaps continue your gluten-free diet, as it seems to help.
  17. Unfortunately your doctor was incorrect about celiacs all being skinny, actually many can be obese because they overeat because they feel like they are starving due to vitamin and mineral deficiencies. Because your sister has it means your chance of having it is around 44%. Given your test results, which are incredibly high, and your family history...
  18. Yes, I agree with @trents, and fully understand your decision not to do a gluten challenge.
  19. Celiac.com 08/24/2021 - We've written about high rates of tissue contamination in reprocessed duodenoscopes, and the FDA has warned about the deadly potential for infection in such cases, and encouraged the transition to disposable duodenoscopes...
  20. Do you include oats in your diet? Unless they are gluten-free oats they could have trace amounts of gluten on them, and some celiacs can't tolerate oats at all, gluten-free or not. Xanthan gum, and other gums like guar gum, used often in gluten-free foods, and they can cause IBS-like symptoms in many people.
  21. Welcome to the forum @janet.brunson. You are right, Dapsone can have some very serious side effects, so if you can avoid using it by keeping your diet 100% gluten-free, it's a better option. Another thing to consider, which is mentioned earlier in this thread, is that foods that are high in iodine can also trigger DH flareups, so many with it also avoid...
