  1. Have the same questions as @trents, and just want to add that the violence you've described is not acceptable under any circumstances, and could be a real danger to you. I think it's important that you don't just ignore his violent actions, and consider being the one who leaves (when he's not around), but if you're having these thoughts at all it would make...
  2. This one is pretty great!

  3. On the downside, I can see this being helpful to a newbie who is just diagnosed, or to those who travel and prefer to avoid eating out, but beyond those two niche within niche groups, most celiacs learn pretty quickly which gluten-free foods they like, and where to find them. I mean it's really not hard at all nowadays finding gluten-free foods, but I'm comparing...
  4. Given your low iron issue it makes sense for your doctor to do an endoscopy to find out what could be causing it. When you say that your blood tests were negative, I just want to point out that in the past many people who said the same thing but shared the actual results here found that they did have at least one test that indicated elevated levels, just...
  5. The only issue I have with this explanation is that if anyone should know better than to say that "everything looked good" before reviewing the samples taken under a microscope, it ought to be the GI doctor, right? I guess it's all relative, and perhaps to them if they didn't see something really bad like cancer, then everything looked fine. Personally I...
  6. It would not surprise me at all if the leaky gut condition, which is often part of celiac disease, would cause this symptom.
  7. Not to scare you but the increase in intraepithelial lymphocytes can be a warning sign for refractory sprue/refractory celiac disease, which is a more dangerous condition. We've done some article on this that you may want to read: https://www.celiac.com/search/?&q=intraepithelial lymphocytes&type=cms_records2&search_and_or=and&search...
  8. Sure, and nearly all prescription medications can have side-effects (and some can contain gluten). If this has been prescribed to you to treat osteoporosis, it would be a good idea to follow your doctor's advice, as this can be a terrible condition if left untreated.
  9. Probiotics and vitamin & mineral supplements can help reduce inflammation. One thing that also helps is turmeric.
  10. I've not heard about this book, but it does sound interesting. Gut biome research and treatments around it are a huge focus of current medical research and new medications that may help treat a variety of disease, including celiac disease. It also interesting that this is now a specialty field in psychology. I think that is great, as my experience with how...
  11. I think an app that also locates certified gluten-free products would be more valuable to celiacs than just gluten-free ones.
  12. The good news is that most of the negative risks and side effects associated with celiacs who eat gluten will go away once they are gluten-free. It may take a while, but if you maintain a gluten-free diet for years the risk of getting other disorders and conditions associated with it are greatly reduced, and many of the issues caused by gluten will go away...
  13. This is a common myth, but so far I've never been able to verify that any company that distills alcohol would add things back in after that would contain gluten. The main claim I've heard is that whiskey makers may add back some mash after distillation, but after a lot of research on this I've found that they never do this, as it would ruin it. In any...
  14. Have you looked at pure psyllium fiber power, which is available on Amazon? Be sure to get a brand that is certified gluten-free, as I have measured gluten in a brand that did not say "gluten-free" on the label.
  15. I am not sure if there is even a test that accurately measures gluten content at 5 ppm levels or lower, but in general, Hebrew National have been considered naturally gluten-free for over 20 years, and I've not heard of complaints about this brand containing any gluten: https://www.hebrewnational.com/kosher-beef-franks/beef-franks
  16. Others have reported body odor as a possible symptom, but your other symptom are very common among those with celiac disease and/or gluten sensitivity. Here is a search of our forum on the body odor symptom: https://www.celiac.com/search/?q="body odor"&type=forums_topic&updated_after=any&sortby=relevancy&search_and_or=and
  17. Celiac.com's safe food and ingredient list has been compiled and maintained for nearly 25 years. We keep the list updated with any additions or changes. Feel free to comment below if you believe something should be added to it. A...
  18. I can’t speak to the validity of the video, or whether the vaccine actually caused their symptoms, but you can watch videos all day long of people in hospitals dying of Covid, and see the funeral pyre‘s right now of thousands of people in India who are dying of Covid every day, as those with it are now being turned away from full hospitals, many of which hav...
  19. Welcome to the forum! I love how gastroenterologists have these kinds of conversations with you while you’re still half under sedation. I recall a similar strange exchange, but only barely, after my last colonoscopy. My doctor mentioned something about “feeling some kind of bump, you might want to get a follow up sooner than the normal time period, but it ...
  20. Celiac.com 05/01/2020 - If you're looking for a tasty, easy, nutritious gluten-free meal that will help you move away from the ordinary, this stir-fried broccoli chicken is just the recipe for you. Ingredients: 2 cups cubed...
  21. In the USA caramel color is gluten-free. Please provide a source for your claim that "Caramel coloring very often has gluten in it."
  22. BTW, your trigger sounds remarkably like mine. I had various issues like a very itchy rash that was probably DH since childhood, but it wasn't until I was in college and on a backpacking trip to Europe that I got full blown celiac disease, which was triggered by what I thought at the time was a classic case of food poisoning. I got violently ill after eating...
  23. My kids both have the gene as well, one is gluten-free and one isn't, but it's time he got re-tested (his last blood tests were negative, but that was years ago). I have DQ2 and DQ8, one from each parent! In any case, I'm always amazed to hear that even back in 1967 there were some amazing doctors who knew about this. Thanks for sharing!
