A video with researcher William Parker about Helminthic Therapy
Scott Adams commented on dixonpete's blog entry in Pete Dixon
Too much there to address, but here are a few things to address: Chronic diseases are solely due to industrialization: Chronic diseases have multiple causes, including genetics, lifestyle choices, and environmental factors. Helminths are beneficial for everyone: Not all helminths are beneficial; some can cause serious health issues. The idea... -
Around 5 years ago I visited Tokyo, and luckily had my sister in law with me who is from there, otherwise it would have been more difficult. The bottom line is that there are tons of naturally gluten-free food options there, but you need to be able to communicate your needs to restaurant staff. Here is a gluten-free restaurant card for American visitors...

Celiac Maybe a Possibility?
Scott Adams replied to More2Learn's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Be careful about how much B6 you take, as it can cause issues if you take too much of it over time. -
Bloodwork Help for my Teen
Scott Adams replied to Sarah Marie's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Since it is such a long time away, you may want to have her go gluten-free for 2 months and see how she responds to the diet. If her symptoms go away, then that would be another indicator that she has celiac disease. Discuss this approach with her doctor, and if they want her to do an endoscopy, then she will need to consume lots of gluten--several slices... -
Many people with celiac disease, especially those who are in the 0-2 year range of their recovery, have additional food intolerance issues which could be temporary. To figure this out you may need to keep a food diary and do an elimination diet over a few months. Some common food intolerance issues are dairy/casein, eggs, corn, oats, and soy. The...

The one B vitamin that you don't want to take too much of is B6. Too much B9 can also lead to issues. Vitamins and Minerals Generally Safe in Excess of Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA): Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid): Excess vitamin C is usually excreted in the urine and is considered safe in higher doses. However, very high doses may cause digestive...

Here is a link to the skin version, and the only ingredients are "chicken": https://www.perduefarms.com/en-US/perdue-bone-in-chicken-thighs-pack/60625.html There should also be ingredients and any allergens listed there on the package. -
Cooking with Scallop Medalions
Scott Adams replied to S V's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I believe I've seen them at Costco still in the shells (in the frozen seafood area), which might be a safe way to go. -
You may want to wear an N-95 mask to filter out any possible gluten, at least when you handle the flour.

It sounds like you've been on quite the journey trying to understand your symptoms and diagnosis. It’s great that you’re planning to consult a doctor for allergy testing, as distinguishing between a wheat allergy, celiac disease, or another gluten-related condition is crucial for moving forward. The fact that you’ve tolerated barley and wheat products witho...

Bloodwork Help for my Teen
Scott Adams replied to Sarah Marie's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Your daughter's results, along with her symptoms and family history, certainly suggest further investigation for celiac disease is warranted. The low total IgA can explain why some IgA-based tests, like tTG-IgA, are negative, as there's simply not enough IgA in her system for reliable results. The weak positive tTG-IgG is notable, especially with her symptoms... -
Thank you for sharing your story—it really highlights the lifelong challenges of living with celiac disease, especially during a time when gluten-free options were nearly nonexistent. It’s heartbreaking to hear about your mother’s struggles and the severe health complications she faced, and I completely agree that more research is needed into the long-term ...

Cooking with Scallop Medalions
Scott Adams replied to S V's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Welcome to the forum. Scallop medallions should be gluten-free, even if they used meat glue (transglutaminase) to make them, and not everyone who has celiac disease will react to meat glue, but some might. The likelihood of scallops containing transglutaminase is relatively low, as fresh or frozen scallops are typically sold without additives. However... -
Regarding #1, you'll need to determine this yourself, as there aren't tests to determine this. I had issues with casein/milk during my recovery period, and had to avoid this for 2-3 years after my diagnosis. It can be a temporary intolerance for many celiacs that may go away after your villi recover. There is research that I shared which indicates that...

Being present in same room as gluten pasta cooking
Scott Adams replied to LKMatchett's topic in Super Sensitive People
To be on the safe side, for those who are super sensitive, I would still recommend turning the fan on the range hood to high when cooking any gluten, including pasta.
