  1. I had read on a couple posts here that original Log Cabin syrup was not gluten free. This past weekend I accidentally ate some and waited for my 'I've been glutened' symptoms to begin. Well, they didn't. So I decided to contact Pinnacle Foods to make sure and here is the reply I got today: July 24, 2008 Thank you for taking the time to...
  2. The only thing that could possibly make this better is if you could come to my house and cook for me! Thanks again, RissaRoo!

    ARCHIVED Warn 0%?

Thanks, Peter. I'm not much of a 'poster', just a 'reader of posts'!

    ARCHIVED Warn 0%?

I saw another thread about this and just out of curiosity, where is this Warning Level next to our name. I can't seem to find it....LOL! Thanks.
  5. RissaRoo! ....that's all, just...!
  6. I use it every day and have had no problems. When I called the company, they said they do not add any gluten containing ingredients, but do not test it specifically for gluten. CYA
  7. Hi, I'll be vacationing in Montauk on Long Island in a couple of weeks...my first trip since I've been diagnosed so I'm a little nervous. Does anyone know of any gluten-free friendly restaurants in the area. Thanks for your help.
  8. Didn't have GI symptoms, but had osteoporosis and severe anemia which caused doctor to start investigating. So, I actually did have symptoms, just not the ones people usually associate with celiac disease.
  9. I'm not much of a baker myself, but for the few things I've made I love Pamela's Baking Mix, too. And I, also, buy alot of my stuff from Amazon. You do have to buy in bulk but it's usually only 6 boxes or packages. And if it's perishable, just keep it in the fridge. Spend more than $25 and they very often throw in free shipping.
  10. Just thought I'd add my recent experience with P&G. When I was first diagnosed, I was using Pantene shampoo and called to make sure it was safe. They assured me it was. I had to buy a new bottle last week and figured I'd do a re-check with P&G since it had been a few months. The rep I spoke to said there was no wheat listed in the ingredients...
  11. I use Garnier Fructis. I called them and they assured me their hair dye was gluten free. Haven't had a problem with it in the 5 months I've used it.
  12. I've made macaroni salad about 3 times this summer already with Tinkyada elbows, veggies and mayo and have had no problem with it. It kept for about 4-5 days in the fridge and didn't seem to get hard. I cooked the pasta like it said on the front of the package - boiled for 2 minutes, covered and let sit for 18-20 minutes. Maybe it was the mayo that kept...
  13. I actually use that quick energy saving method they have on the front of the package. I boil them for one minute, cover, take them off the heat and let them sit in the water for 18-20 minutes. Works like a charm every time.
  14. I'm really not the 'baker' in my family, my daughter is. But I told her no more wheat flour or cake mixes in the house and she's actually been having a ball trying out the old recipes using gluten-free flour. She's had the best luck with Pamela's gluten-free baking mix and I've even made some pretty delicious blueberry muffins. Nothing has tasted terrible...
  15. Hi.....I believe I'm in the same boat as you...LOL...although I was only diagnosed 5 months ago. I, too, have had all levels of symptoms over the years although at the time I had them I didn't know I had celiac disease. When I was diagnosed I was having no gastro symptoms. I've read that the learning curve is very steep and expect to make mistakes the first...
  16. Hi....just wanted to up-date everyone who was so helpful when I was asking about my daughters' testing. I ended up using my regular gastroenterologist. She ran the complete Celiac panel and gene testing and the results came back today.....they both tested negative and do not carry the genes. I huge load off of my mind! Thank you again for all your advice...
  17. Thanks again, RissaRoo! You're the best!
  18. I was extremely depressed the first 2-3 months after going gluten-free. I would cry all the time. It was almost like I was in mourning for the way my life used to be. I, too, started taking a sublingual Vit B-12 about 6 weeks ago and noticed a difference within a week.....felt more like my old self. You will feel better. Hang in there!
  19. Thank you so much for posting your menus, RissaRoo. You have no idea what a big help this is. Planning what to make for dinner each night was never my favorite job! And then when I was diagnosed 3 months ago, it really became a problem for me. You have made my life that much easier. You're a doll!
  20. I also had trouble taking calcium I now take Citracal calcium citrate PLUS with Vit D and Magnesium and have had no trouble at all. As RiceGuy said, the magnesium helps a great deal. I also take NatureMade multivitamins. They are gluten-free as is most of the products in their line. Oh, and the Citracal is gluten-free, also, of course. Hope this helps...
  21. I have osteopenia in 2 of my vertebrae and osteoporosis in 1, but my hip is OK. I'm taking Citracal Plus with Vit D and Magnesium. It is gluten free. I was taking Boniva for 3 months , but had a bad reaction with it.
  22. I take Nature Made vitamins. Most are gluten free and will say so right on the bottle. Hope this helps.
  23. I hate fish, too! But I think it's a psychological thing. I remember Friday night dinners when I was little, listening to my Irish Catholic grandmother tell everyone to be careful they didn't swallow a bone. Since that day, I haven't been able to get anything fishy down my throat except for cannned tuna....LOL! But I might have to give that tin foil method...
  24. Thank you all for your advice. It was a big help. I have one more question, though, and I think I actually already know the answer. I just need to hear someone else confirm it. Would it make sense to wait another year until they graduate and have their own insurance before testing them since they have no symptoms and never have had any? Thanks again...
  25. HELP! I don't know what the right thing is to do. I was diagnosed in February with a positive blood test and biopsy - no major digestive issues, just anemia, osteoporosis and lactose intolerance. My 2 subsequent blood tests show my numbers are way down and my anemia is gone. But since then I have been agonizing over what to do about my children. I have...
