ARCHIVED I Swear I Have Celiac Disease...but....
Ahorsesoul replied to ktnhsv's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
ktnhsv, You will be glutened now and then. Does not matter in the long run. Eliminate what glutened you and move on. This is a all or nothing world. We do the best we can. I have not met one person who went gluten free in an hour, day or week. It takes a long time to figure out what is in your house that will gluten you. You will finally get to where... -
Please remember that a negative panel does not mean he is not celiac. Just buy another tube of toothpaste that only you use if this is bothering you.

ARCHIVED Glutened By Gluten Free
Ahorsesoul replied to CoCo-Rojo's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Many times, probably because of cross contamination issues. -

Sorry but without the chemicals in it to keep it from molding you will need to keep in the refrig or freeze it.

ARCHIVED Need Guidance Fast!
Ahorsesoul replied to NHMOM's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
If you post a request for a doctor along with your city and state under the Doctors thread you might find someone that knows a doctor in your area that understands celiac disease. https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/index.php?showforum=6 For bread I suggest Udi. It tastes the best out of all I've tried so far. Expensive, yes. Against the Grain has excellent... -

ARCHIVED Just Needing To Vent!
Ahorsesoul replied to kaki-clam's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yum. This sounds like what I'd call a Poor Boy. I'm going to try this on Against the Grain rolls, kind of a cross between a croissant and french bread. -
horsegirl, We will figure some way to help you out. Do you have horses? We had arabs and an icelandic. Miss my icelandic like crazy since we gave up our hobby farm.

Once while traveling, I found only two things at a restaurant that I felt safe eating. Ice cream and Kahlua. So I had an Adult Sundae. Didn't bother me at all, steered away that depression really fast. Sure wasn't the most healthy thing but tasted mighty fine without making me sick. I wasn't driving either. A baked potato can be found at most restaurants...

ARCHIVED Just Needing To Vent!
Ahorsesoul replied to kaki-clam's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
There are recipes for whoopie pie that are gluten free. You are not the only one craving them. Not sure what's on your local Italian Sandwiches but I'm sure they can be duplicated. There really is nothing that can't be made gluten free. So what is on your Italian Sandwiches? I might want that for tomorrow's dinner! Tell me all about it. -
ARCHIVED Cruise - Want To Bring My Own Food
Ahorsesoul replied to Sweetfudge's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
The cruise company can tell you what the regulations are for your own food. Once you are on board be sure to talk with the kitchen and head chef. Let them know that you talked to "name of person you talked to" and were guaranteed that your food would be gluten free without cross contamination. Tell them you are so glad because if you get sick you will... -
ARCHIVED Just Needing To Vent!
Ahorsesoul replied to kaki-clam's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You have many friends here that care about you. First are you staying gluten free? This can contribute to your depression. Guys, yes the move on for reasons we do not understand or accept. If he left, he was not the person for you. Something was wrong with him that he didn't see the wonderful person that you are. Heck even your dog is worried about... -
I agree with you. I'd rather cook myself now. I loved going out to eat. Could go out to eat everyday, for every meal. And I'm a real foodie at heart. Have loved food since I was a young child. At 5 yrs old, lobster, artichokes and avocados were my favorite foods, not burgers or fries. When I went gluten free I did decide I would learn how to make my favorite...

ARCHIVED Awkward Question Please Help
Ahorsesoul replied to Jaydley's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
There are a lot of people that have reported problems like yours with a poisoned partner. So I would say yes, a partner that is not gluten free could cause you to experience glutened symptoms if you are very sensitive. Readers: There is/was a great discussion on this subject. Is this topic still on this forum somewhere? I couldn't find it. As far as... -
I'm an old dog, do not like change. If it takes up less usage, fine otherwise put it back. lol What is driving me nuts is when I go from an email notification to the site, I am put to the top of the posting and have to page to find the newest addition.

This is one of the first cakes I tried to bake when I went gluten free. I don't know what it would be like using regular flour but it's excellent with Pamela's Baking and Pancake mix. I think Pam's mix works well because it does contain almond meal. Almond Cream Cake Cake 1 cup heavy cream

ARCHIVED How To Help A 21 Year Old Son
Ahorsesoul replied to lizbeth's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
At 21, it is hard to get them to listen. I'd ask him how he plans to explain his diarrhea problem to a friend he'll be sleeping with. Perhaps he'd like to have that small problem cleared up first. Of course if he already has a close friend this approach might not work. Sometimes you have to hit them over the head for them to wake up and see all the problems... -

ARCHIVED Went To Emergency Room
Ahorsesoul replied to txplowgirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
txplowgirl, Some ER doctors also have their own medical practice. If you post the name of that ER doctor you saw under the Doctors forum along with his town and state others in your area will be able to seek him out. At least if they end up in ER they could request to see him. I've been to ER twice for this very same reason. No one has ever suggested...
