Bi-Aglut is my favorite but it's expensive. I order online for Spaghetti, Macaroni, Penne, Fusilli, Lasagna and Tagliatelle (Long Egg Noodles). Well worth the money. Ancient Harvest Quinoa is good. Sch -
ARCHIVED Anyone From Wisconsin?
Ahorsesoul replied to MelindaLee's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Love Wisconsin. I'm on the western edge of this great state, not far from the Twin Cities. -
One of the ladies my dd lives with was gluten and dairy free. They made their lasagna with the soy cheeses and extra spices. I'd think your idea will work. I'd puree a little of it and then mix it back in with the rest.

ARCHIVED What To Do When People Dont Listen?
Ahorsesoul replied to hh73's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
There are people you just can't make understand. Either do not eat at their house or bring your own food. You choice is to hurt their feelings or hurt yourself. They will get over their hurt feelings without a health risk. You might not. I do go to family/friends houses for dinners. I just do not eat their food. I bring some gluten-free food (i.e. casserole... -

mushroom, So true. I wonder what is next. Soon they could just hand us a pill instead of us eating. Reminds me of the song by Zager And Evans - In The Year 2525. Great song. -

I tested this theory this summer with fresh corn. It produced the Big D within 10 minutes...twice since I wanted to make sure it wasn't something else I had eaten. So I am starting to read labels for corn and corn syrup now. Nothing like making it a little more restricting. But it's worth it to feel better. The corn issue feeds into my theory that it... -

I took the recipe from the following blog and turned it into a gluten free one. Made it tonight. It is excellent. I used a Betty Crocker gluten free yellow cake mix. Since it only makes one layer I decreased the butter to half a cup. I was out of pecans so I used almonds. Add extra spices if you like this type of dessert spicy. I did not sift since this...

I am a blue cheese lover. Can eat the stuff plain, on toast for breakfast, on pizza, on a spoon....anytime of day. But I do react to some brands of blue cheese so I now stick with Maytag or Rosenborg.

Ahorsesoul replied to travelrjoe's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I use the cheesecake part from the following recipe on chocolate cake. It is wonderful but my cheesecake has always stayed on top. I did make a carrot cake by using Betty Crocker's yellow cake mix, adding some grated carrots and spices. Was excellent also. Open Original Shared Link -

ARCHIVED How Do I Approach My Doctor About The Possibility Of celiac disease?
Ahorsesoul replied to jester's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My advice is to see a doctor who is a specialist in Celiac Disease. It really takes a specialist to diagnosis and to do the proper testing. Do not start eating gluten free before you have testing done. Look under the Doctor section here to see if there is a doctor in your area that is recommended. Or post your request there with the name of your town or the... -
ARCHIVED Do You Expect Relatives To Cater To Your Gluten-Free Diet?
Ahorsesoul replied to ljgs's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
No. I do not expect others to cater to my needs. This is for a health reason. People who are not bothered by gluten do not understand what gluten is or that there is also the problem with cross contamination. When I go to some one's house to eat I bring my own food and snacks. When I go out to eat with friends I always carry something with me in case the... -

You do no need an iPhone to print out the cards. There is a Chinese card I believe on the site. But having someone with an "in" at the restaurant is even better! Once when we were in NYC (long long ago) we are walking around at night wondering where to eat. This lady who had just walked past us, turns around telling us she will show us a good place to...
