  1. I suggest you also go gluten free so there are two people instead of one all a lone. It would be a great boost. I really do not see gluten free eating as doing without. I decided when I went gluten free to find good replacements for the items I really loved. There really isn't anything I can't find or make so I do not feel I am left out. You can do this for...
  2. Be sure to send in writing your story to their main office. Remind them that you could have been killed because of their lack of concern. And cc it to the local newspapers. A little PR might wake them up. So sorry you had such a terrible time with the food.
  3. Depends on how gluten free you really are in your life. Just a little can prevent healing. Think of it as a wound. If you keep rubbing the scab off it won't heal.
  4. When I went totally gluten free I told dh he had to make his own lunch because I was not touching his bread.
  5. At one time if someone told people not to eat gluten they were laughed at too.
  6. I love reading about your experiments.
  7. Kraft is good about labeling their products. Here's their website telling about how they label with examples. I make Rice Krispie treats all the time but never have used the fluff. Open Original Shared Link
  8. It is a personal choice. With the insurance, they really want to know what illnesses you have so in the future, if you change insurance companies, they could refuse to pay for previous documented problems. On the other had, without the testing insurance companies can refuse to pay for some treatments because it's not documented that you have a disease...
  9. Some people are very sensitive to the cross contamination with gluten. If the product is not made in a gluten free environment there is a chance for people to get contaminated with gluten. The other thing to keep in mind is other foods that you may need to avoid. If you keep a food journal you may see a pattern that will point to foods you need to avoid...
  10. Let you doctor know how sick you are with eating gluten. The best test is what you have just done, gone back to eating gluten with nasty results. Remember that lab tests and biopsy results can still be negative even if you are Celiac or intolerant. You do not need to suffer.
  11. I have found I get gluten symptoms when I eat pork. Remember each individual can react differently. Do check your meat to see if there are additives. Some meat is injected with water, broth or marinated. I am allergic to papaya. It is in meat tenderizer so I have to watch all meat carefully. I never realized how many additives are in regular plain ole...
  12. But back to the question. What kind and brand of soda are you drinking? My dd was drinking caffiene free root beer at work and having lots of problems. Turned out it was not gluten free.
  13. The Great McDonald's fry debate. I love it. I do know that different countries have differently made items in their places. So McDs fries here in the US may be coated and else where they may not. Last time I check with our local Wisconsin McDs, they were coated but that's been several years ago.
  14. For my German Chocolate Cakes I use this filling recipe and Betty Crockers chocolate cake mix. For several layers of cake you would need to use two boxes. This recipe is from Cook
  15. I can not handle the oats. Glutened or certified gluten free sends my body into turmoil.
  16. This place is trying so hard I certainly would not me mad at them. Upset, that I was going to get sick but not mad. They are probably still having nightmares about a lawsuit. I would eat there again. But it does show that even people who have been educated in what has gluten will forgot something once in awhile.
  17. Praying there is a good doctor at the hospital for you to see. Chicken breasts could be injected with broth that could contain gluten.
  18. This mornings breakfast was a shrimp taco: stir fried veggies, shrimp with chopped radish, onions and avocado. It was leftovers from last nights dinner.
  19. Interesting. I noticed this "skunk cabbage" smell after I went gluten free. I love asparagus, have always eaten a ton of it but it never caused a smell until I went gluten free. This would make an great research project.
  20. Please let these churchs know (in writing) that they are doing a great service to those of their members that are gluten free.
  21. Other thought. If you made the pie crust yourself, did you roll it out with or on something that was contaminated with gluten. I.E. a wooden rolling pin could be contaminated with gluten.
  22. I personally can not drink the bourbon.
  23. You can do and enjoy anything with a good attitude! You deserve a star!
  24. I fully agree about using a coffee grinder. Works great.
  25. I suggest you stop thinking breakfast food. The first meal of the day does not have to be traditional food. Go for a steak and baked potato.
