  1. I usually just do stuff and see how it turns out. Rarely is something bad and has to be thrown out. Sometimes it comes out ok and other times a "great" find was made. If you reduce the sugar, I would put in equal amounts of flour to keep the texture right.
  2. I see we were looking on the same old threads....It appears that some do. So you would need to ask the restaurant or make your own at home. Of course the wrap is wheat (gluten) and is a no no.
  3. B's girl...give him coconut milk and coconut fat. Very healthy for him.
  4. I have learned that the only thing I can control is what I buy at the store and stock my house with. I cannot control what my daughter (12) eats when she is at school or with friends. I have taught her strong principles about eating healthy and she eats healthy at home. She will make her own way and learn. For instance every year my daughter's school...
  5. Since your son has diabetes, you need to be careful with processed gluten-free foods, they tend to be very high glycemic and will shoot the blood sugar right up. They lack fiber which is part of the problem. I know you have your hands full with a 4 yo and a 9 mo baby, but if you can experiment with some high fiber bread baking, this would help. There...
  6. Pos blood and biopsy is the gold standard Dx. You may not have nasty symptoms to deal with (be thankful), but what you are doing for yourself is preventing cancers and auto-immune diseases that are associated with Celiac. You can expect to live well into your 80's or MORE without these extra cancers and diseases.
  7. It is easier and cheaper if everyone goes gluten-free if you stick to basic foods and do not rely on processed foods (breads, cookies, etc.). My DD and DH are not gluten free. But my house is a gluten-free zone. I already had a fridge/freezer in the garage and now there is a very small microwave out there. The few gluten foods that they want are kept...
  8. Sounds like a B2 deficiency (Riboflavin). That should correct itself if gluten is your problem and you go gluten free. But you will want to supplement B vitamins for awhile.
  9. We are happy to help you out. Just let us know what you need.
  10. That's right. My D went away with gluten-free, but learned that xylitol gives me D. So not gluten related at all as the xylitol is a gluten free product. I checked. Ditto for the gluten free gum with xylitol. Even small amounts give me D.
  11. A good large Thermos can go a long way. Heat at home and put in Thermos so it is still warm at lunchtime.
  12. Im not tempted at all! If I smell fresh baking bread, I am NOT tempted to eat that gluteny bread. I might think to myself that I will bake some bread when I get home....I might think wouldnt it be nice if I could eat bread like everyone else......but tempted to eat it...no.
  13. Did you make sure you ate the new rice chex that is certified gluten free? Old boxes might not be. Some people with celiac react to milk/casein the same as gluten.
  14. It's easier to sub out with things like cookies that dont need to "rise". Visit Bob's Red Mill site for free recipes you could send her.
  15. My Vita-Mix has a dry container and special blades for grains. It works very well. I always sift the flour though to make sure there arent some larger bits I missed. I also enjoy that it is a multi-purpose machine. If I could only have one appliance, it would be my Vita-Mix. I love it! I just wish they werent so expensive. I bought a new one when...
  16. I sure hope you have not been gluten free since May 1st as your biopsy might come up negative as your villi might have healed to a point where the biopsy will not pick up damage. The villi begin healing as soon as you cut gluten out of your diet and some people heal VERY quickly (within weeks). So if you are gluten free and have been for more than a few...
  17. I have low Vit D and iron as well. Taking extra vit C (like 2000 mg a day) and taking magnesium (at least 500 mg per day) can help with the C. You should take calcium and magnesium when you take Vit D or it can actually deplete you of calcium. You could try 1000 calcium and 500 magnesium plus Vit D (my doctor has me on 5000 IU a day till I catch up...
  18. I have mostly neuro symptoms and not GI. But years ago I had horrible stomach/GI issues. Meat killed me. And I was soooo limited. But I started taking digestive enzymes and HCL and I was able to eat normally again. This is something for you to consider. Over time I weaned off of the HCL and I can eat meat now with no problems. I still take digestive...
  19. All of these tests are expensive and I must confess I have felt duped sometimes. For instance I had no reaction to raspberries this past A.L.C.A.T. but get a reaction when I eat them. And some of the things I reacted to, I can eat just fine. About 2 years ago I did Enterolab and everything came back negative (wheat, dairy, egg, soy). At about that...
  20. I tried the Instead years ago. Within 15 minutes I thought I was gonna pass out. I was driving and had to pull over and take it out barehanded. A flood of relief came over me. I mentioned this to my Gyno on my next visit and he said that some women have a nerve on their cervix that when stimulated makes them feel lightheaded. And all those years I wondered...
  21. The body has an innate ability to know when a pregnancy is not viable. It could be for a number of reasons. Including deficiencies, overwhelming stress, immune dysfunction, etc. You are doing the best you can. Eating healthy. You are going to find out if you have deficiencies and correct them. Now....please find a way to calm and relax yourself...

    ARCHIVED Hungry!

I was ubber hungry for the first month or so on the gluten-free diet and then it leveled off. I dont crave food anymore. I crave health!
  23. Yes, hashis can cause swings in both directions as the thyroid "sputters" whilst dying. I hope your compounded meds work better for you.
  24. Most doctors dont like me and the feeling is mutual. I would have said, "Well doc. if I have gallstones, I am sure you know that is a common symptom of celiac??" I have a family history of celiac. And my daughter is thriving on a gluten free diet. I am sure you will consider that I might have celiac?? I am certain that you can see the obvious and will...
  25. When I had post pardum thyroiditis my eyes did seem larger and they hurt. I went to the eye doctor and everything checked out o.k. Once my thyroid went from hyper to hypo the eye symptoms went away. Try not to worry about what "might" happen and focus on what is happening "right now". Believe you will be well and believe in your body's ability to heal...
