I had a yummy lunch the other day...bean salad (4 kinds of beans, onions, r&g bell peppers), pickled beets and a zucchini brownie. I like cottage cheese with fruit. Or yogurt, nuts and fruit added. ARCHIVED Chocolate Coconut Milk Ice Cream
purple replied to purple's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I was thinking of adding nuts too, next time! Almond sounds good instead of the vanilla. My dh said "MAKE MORE" ! I like it any way as long as its chocolate...mm I tried it plain with some canned peaches. The coconut overpowers the peach flavor...needs some tweaking. Fresh peaches would help. I may try it plain or choc with fresh picked wild black... -

				ARCHIVED Some More Freezing Questions
purple replied to GlutenGalAZ's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I make fried rice and freeze it. Lately I have been making rice in the rice cooker, let it cool, then pour into a bag and freeze it. My dd squishes out how much she wants into the frying pan and adds her veggies. So simple (for me...lol)! I use long grain white rice and don't even rinse it anymore. I learned to make it early or the day before so it... -

mmmmmmmmm.....sounds good, cool, kiddo, yummy, festive and pretty! -
I was planning on what to make for the 4th of July, so I thought we could start an idea thread?!? We always have a church BBQ (hamburgers and hotdogs) and potluck. Dishes I don't have to keep hot or cold or that get eaten fast are always nice. It seems there are lots of salads already so I like to think of what kids like to eat too ( mine are grown )....

ARCHIVED Help! Need Ideas For A gluten-free, Dairy Free, Soy Free Dish To Pass!
purple replied to Miss Emily's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Pasta salad with Italian dressing is yummy! I add mayo to make it more creamy. I found this recipe, similar to what I have made before, for meaty beans, but I never use sausage or lime juice and less lima beans. Open Original Shared Link -

ARCHIVED Help! Need Ideas For A gluten-free, Dairy Free, Soy Free Dish To Pass!
purple replied to Miss Emily's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I was thinking of "meaty" baked beans. Your favorite cooked meat, beans of choice, cooked onions, bbq sauce or ketchup/brown sugar/molasses/garlic powder etc. Adjust to taste. Heat in a crock pot. Be sure to add enough sauce so it doesn't get dry later on. I like bacon, baked beans or a mixture of beans (this is the only way I will eat baby lima beans... -

ARCHIVED Link For All Types Of Gardening
purple replied to purple's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Thanks for posting those links! I think baby grasshoppers were eating my beans (I killed about 50 in 3 days)and flea beetles after the tomatoes(still are). Spray killed the sunflowers and some zucchini. So far the garden looks great except for we have had several inches of rain over the last 10 days but dry weather started today with temps in the upper... -
