  1. Ha Ha...they are supposed to get sick after the holiday!
  2. Or adults too "Rice Krispy" treats made with Cocoa Pebbles. Spread peanut butter between two treats and eat. mm..mmm... good!
  3. We were looking for a protein snack last night. Popcorn has 6 grams of fiber and 6 grams of protein in 1/4 cup (I assume that is prepopping). I buy Natural Value, organic and pop it in unrefined coconut oil with no added butter and a dash of salt. Cook it in more oil if its too dry the first time. Its a healthy snack.
  4. I agree with RiceGuy...I haven't a clue. My spirals are in a pink package. I tend to cook them 16-18 minutes, then rinse them in hot water. I would blame it on how fast the water was boiling....or did you put the pasta in the water before it started to boil??? If so then they cooked too long...hmmm ...I guess like everthing else, esp. gluten-free cooking...
  5. All above are words of experience and wisdom. Please listen to them. If your BF doesn't take you and your health serious now then there will be issues later in this and other subjects as well. If he has a complete turn around and puts you first then his heart has softened. That's a good sign. You could become closer thru this. Could be that he is scared to...
  6. sounds similar. I am glad to hear you liked it...thanks, it gives me courage to try it
  7. Has anyone tried this cheese sauce???? recipezaar #145464....it sounds like the viewers liked it alot. Its made with cashews, cornstarch, green chilis, etc. If its good you can do alot with it. Jus wondrun
  8. So... what about sulpha (sp?) My husband was allergic to it some 45 years ago. Is it a sulphite? I think he is allergic to gluten, has some minor symptoms. Thanks for your intelligent answer, I still think you should be a doctor.
  9. I think I found a site that has a pic of the bread. It also is an amazing web site, I am going to check it out good! iamglutenfree.blogspot.com then go to breads...foccacia thanks for the puzzle. Looks like we can find some good recipes there!
  10. Sounds wonderful! I found that scones are one of the easiest and fastest baked goody. Good anytime. You can put most any fruit or nut in them to make them healthier like you did the pumpkin. I used to make them the gluten way with added choc chips. Then top them with whipping cream, a drizzle of chocolate syrup and 3 or 4 choc chips on each slice. Not so...
  11. Just what I thought I was looking for but couldn't find. I didn't know what it was called. I like that its from potatoes. Thanks!!
  12. In Carol Fenster's Cooking Free book she says as a sub for corn flour you can use almond flour, bean flour or chestnut flour. So depending on the recipe you could sub one of those. I like to make 1/2 of a recipe to see how it turns out first.
  13. What do you bakers use for a non dairy substitute for milk powder? I just read that you can you use Ensure. Has anyone tried it? Thanks for all your suggestions.....
  14. Drain a can of your favorite beans (I used black). Dump in a can of Rotel tomatoes and stir. Serve with chips... Or...sprinkle on top of chips and microwave until hot. Top with all your favorite nacho toppings. P.S. I finally got to try Rice Works chips, sweet chili flavored, yesterday...really good! gluten-free and Vegan
  15. I just read Carol's recipe and she suggests: unsalted butter or buttery spread, Earth Balance, or Soy Garden. I would use the Spectrum's.
  16. How funny, I made scones this morning and am eating a sliver right now. Scrumptious recipe. I used Carol Fensters recipe from gluten-free Quick and Easy on page 204. I omitted the raisins. Then I added 1/2 cup of white chocolate chips and about a cup of fresh raspberries. OH YUMMY GOOD! You gotta try it. And I thought chocolate chip or apple cinnamon were...
  17. Same here. My daughter kept complaining of ovary pain when she was not on her period. She had extreme pms. I saw many endometriosis symptoms in her. She was diagnosed allergic to gluten.
  18. I am glad you posted this. My friend has many of the symptoms of celiac but has never been tested. Endometriosis, hysterectomy, other stomache troubles, surgeries....lots more...for at least 15 years. Her last surgery was on her thyroid. I can't remember if they removed some of it or what exactly. I keep telling her to get checked. I have been studying it...
  19. Could it be the change from home cooked food compared to eating out. I am not allergic to gluten but my daughter is and I think it comes from her dad's side. I harldy ever eat out. I mostly eat homemade/gluten-free food. Yesterday I ate out at Carl's Jr. and my tummy hurt alot but I am sure it was from the coke I had b/c I only have one about once per month...
  20. Could it be that being allergic to gluten caused your endometriosis and all your other symptoms. My 19 yr old daughter had all the signs for endo. We took her to the doc and found out she was allergic to gluten. She has stopped most of the gluten and we are still working on it. Her pms symptoms are practically normal. My friend had endo. about 15 years ago...
  21. I feel like you in many ways. Why do people think you have to "do" something to have a good time. I love being by myself. Others hate it. I have a friend that called me on her day off when she had no one to talk to. She wanted to make cookies. She talked to me on her cell phone all the way to the store, thru the aisles while she found the ingredients, the...
  22. I forgot to put the sugar in choc choc chip muffins once so I frosted them. Perfect remedy in an emergency. I had about a dozen kids ready to eat them.
  23. Children never want to listen to their parents advice, wisdom, suggestions, rules, or whatever. Can an outside source (not a relative) talk to her about it, show a video about what it does to you, show their DH rash, etc? Something to make it click with her. Would she want to read the testimonies on this forum? How about the teenager section?
  24. I have always put oil in my wheat pasta so I forgot to mention that earlier. I automatically put oil in the rice pasta too. With wheat my spaghetti would always clump together until I learned to use some oil. I then I would stir it a few times to keep it separated.
  25. If you do any baking you could switch from rice flour to sorghum. Need the flour mix recipe? I've used it in muffins, cookies, waffles, pastry, brownies, cake, scones, bread and next is tortillas. I like it much better. It has more fiber and protein than rice and its not grainy. It reminds me of spice for some reason. I am not a rice lover unless it has alot...
