  1. I just read that hives are a reaction to gluten. My sister gets hives, we thought it was from stress. She has been constipated for like 25 years. Her hives are on her arms only. She has several other symptoms too. Just 2 days ago she was dizzy 3 times while shopping and had to sit down. I think she is allergic to gluten. My daughter has bumps on her arms...
  2. Someone else please answer her!!! I have not gone through what you have. I am sorry for your situation. Could you possibly show him pictures of some of the things he could get if he keeps eating gluten. I saw the DH pics. They were awful. Ask him if he would like to look like that. Explain to him about all the side effects. Show him the teenager site and...
  3. Sorry, I don't know how to print anything except by pen and paper and a copy machine...ha ha. I made my 2nd loaf of bread today. It was tastey! Go to gluten free baking and cooking as I said before. Then go to the thread "very good bread recipe". I posted where to find the french bread recipe I made and others posted there too. I want to try the one Fiddlefaddle...
  4. Ok, you gotta try this bread #180306. It was sooo like french bread. Crusty crust and soft middle. This is only my second loaf of gluten-free bread ever. My husband loved it. I posted my comments on recipezaar for June 21st. One comment there said she made pizza crust with it. Mine shrank while baking but that could easily be my fault. I will make it again...
  5. Hm...could the diapers have gluten in them? I read that sanitary pads could have wheat in them. Does anyone know and which brands?
  6. I agree about Lorka's flax bread even though I only made it once. My problem is my propane type oven quit so I use a convection oven. Also I don't have a stand mixer yet nor a gluten-free type bread machine. So I am limited. However I saw a recipe for french bread that I am going to make only 1/2 of a recipe today that only takes an hour to rise and bake...
  7. My personal advice. Tonsils and adenoids are part of our immune system as well as other parts the doctors are so happy about removing. Our parts our God given for a purpose. Our immune system is highly important to keep out invaders. Our parts all work together and if one is missing then the others have to work harder. We are more susceptible to things the...
  8. Remember to make extra foods and freeze them in small portions for a fast lunch. Cook and freeze meats too for tacos. Like taco meat- beef or chicken, bbq chicken or sloppy joes on tortillas. Just mix and match your meats with breads, pastas, waffles, tortillas and chips. It doesn't have to be traditional just creative. Add in veggies- peppers, onions,...
  9. Fyi...I was getting out the peanut butter and thought I would read the ingredients. Smart Balance brand. Peanuts, natural oil blend (flaxseed abd palm fruit oils), salt, molasses. gluten-free, Lf, and vegan. No hydrogenated oil, no trans fat, no refined sugar, has omega 3's from the flax. I like the taste but not my hubby. Good for baking too.
  10. I totally agree with what everyone else said. Poor Conner. But one good thing is for sure, at least you know things now and not after 2 or 5 or 10 or 20 + years like others, before he got worse.
  11. Here is what my kids bumps are like. My diagnosed gluten daughter got some on her face and near her lips. They were not red. Just annoying and ugly if someone saw them. Then they went away. My other daughter has had bumps for 3 years on her arms. She scratched them, then they bled, scabbed, got scratched, scabs fell off on left scars. They were bumps that...
  12. I just saw a recipe on recipezaar that had tofu and maple syrup...hm...listed under vegan recipes
  13. Everyone gave you good tips, here are some bits. McCormick seasoning is safe but will list wheat if it has it, same for Kraft, Bertoli, Hershey's, S&W, Blue Bunny, Sunny Delight, Tyson, Heinz, Sara Lee, Smart Balance, etc. Ther is a whole list out there so watch for it. Sorry I don't have it. Fritos(not sure about chili) and ranch Doritoes are ok too...
  14. Gee thanks everyone. I was wondering about it too...ditto...ditto...ditto
  15. Sorry for your loss and health issues. I was thinking about this just today. I am in Idaho, sorry. I did daycare (not gluten-free) for 9 years. There is no way to guarantee any child safe from gluten unless they were very mildly allergic but even that could cause damage. I would go with the other ideas.
  16. Hi, I am only 4 months new at this and we are still learning and not yet gluten free but trying. My daughter is allergic to gluten and now I see symptoms in other relatives. Other people will be able to comment better than me but this is what I know. It is genetic. So if you have it, your children could have it and if you and your husband have it your childrens...
  17. Here is a web site for supplements: www.swansonvitamins.com. You can call them to ask any questions about their products and for a catalog too. @ 1-800-437-4148. Sorry about your mom and sorry I can't help anymore.
  18. I talked on the phone to www.swansonvitamins.com only 2 days ago. The lady said she takes chlorella(Kyoto brand) and it does lots of things including gives her energy. You can search it out. Most people are allergic to casein...what about whey? It's full of protein. If you can take it ...I bought Biochem Sports, it's supposed to be good. Swanson's has soy...
  19. Stir fry with or without rice is fast esp. if you use instant rice. Layered bean dip-no cooking and eat it cold with chips. Sherbet made with an alternative milk and fresh pureed fruit in it. A watermelon (my in-laws do that when its hot). Peanut butter(if u can have it), bananas, and apples . Waffles (gluten-free and casein free)with strawberries or whatever...
  20. My daughter hates to cook and hates the kitchen. Look at it this way, at least you didn't learn to cook all the things you can't have so you only have to learn how to cook the things you can have. Which will be very beneficial when you start a family b/c they will probably be allergic too. They won't feel so deprived b/c they won't know what they are missing...
  21. Could you tell me which ingredient makes them not gluten free. If you compare with cocoa pebbles its almost the same ingredients. Also its a Kraft product and they always state their source if it has gluten/wheat. One more thing, is 888 a toll free # so I could call them ? Thanks for your /anyones help!
  22. Here are the symptoms that I know about. My mother-in-law is now 70 yrs old. Her parents died from I don't know what at different times when she was around 9. She comes from a large family. She is only around 5ft tall. She has had allergies forever. Dust, animals, shellfish. A cold sometimes puts her bed. She loves to cook and esp. bake. Her periods were...
  23. oops! sorry-wrong thread! supposed to be for the celiac that can't have eggs.
  24. Hi, Go to the topic "Friends and loved ones of celiac" then go to the thread called: Lunch ideas. Many ideas there. I posted mine too. My 19 yr old daughter was diagnosed allergic to gluten 1/2 thru her first year of college. There wasn't anything to eat so I know how you feel about that. She had ovary pain months before she started college. She ended up...
