ARCHIVED Struggling To Think Of Work Lunches!
purple replied to Aussie Peg's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Try a layered bean dip with your favorite toppings. Spread refried beans in a pie plate, then top with your favorites. Try tomatoes, olives, avocados, lettuce, peppers, cooked chicken, whole beans like black or garbonzos, green chilis, etc. Serve with tortilla chips, crackers, celery sticks, a spoon or whatever. Serve cold. We like green onions, salsa and... -
I have a recipe that we all love for homemade rice tortillas. It makes 6. I double it and fridge or freeze them. We like them better than wheat and even corn. They don't crack. They freeze well too. You can try to find it on Eating Gluten Free, Bette Hagman. I have altered her recipe and will try to post it soon. You will want to try my tips. Her recipe...

I am not sure if this will help... 4 months ago my 19 yr old daughter was diagnosed allergic to gluten by an osteopath. I thought she had endometriosis. I studied it alot and she had all the symptoms. The doc said it was gluten. Treatment: no more gluten, he gave her complex vitamin B with magnesium, weekly glutathione injections. Her extreme PMS is almost... -

Look up "chicken skin" (keratosis pilaris)(emedicine.com has good pics)on the web and see if it looks like what you have. My daughter has it on her arms and its not DH. She ate biscuits at work yesterday and she felt like bugs were crawling on her arms and neck. She has not been tested yet but her older sister is allergic to gluten. We are in the process... -

ARCHIVED How Important Is Biopsy For Diagnosis?
purple replied to jasonD2's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
One thing you can dare to try is an osteopath/alternative medical doctor. See if there is good one in your area. Ours was the only one recommended in Idaho. First visit for my daughter was $350 for one hour. We paid another $100 for some vitamins and an herb they had to order. Take a complete list of all the symptoms you have of anything wrong with you from... -

ARCHIVED Need Help With School Project
purple replied to Debby's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
We spent $450 for the initial visit to an osteopath that diagnosed my daughter on the first visit as gluten intolerant. She never saw an md. Shes given up most gluten and if she does eat it she knows. So the diagnoses was right even though she has not had a biopsy. Praise God for direction! -

ARCHIVED Need Help (very Sick) Have Questions
purple replied to Ander3223's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I read somewhere that being allergic to gluten lies dormant in some people until a major event then it comes out in the open. Symptoms may have been there all along but you didn't notice them. Then after giving birth you noticed them. Major events like a car wreck, death of a loved one, pregnancy, stress, etc, can bring on the symptoms so you would notice... -

ARCHIVED When Will I Know If The Diet Is Working?
purple replied to ouatic's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My daughter had those itchy bumps on her head and her arms too. It was b/c her liver wasn't working. So the doc has been giving her injections of glutathione to help it. If your liver doesn't work everything else slows down and you get allergies. After the first or second injection we noticed the back of her hair was really greasy even after 2 washings. The... -

ARCHIVED Looking For A Good Brownie Recipe
purple replied to Genie Walker's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Hi, Go to gluten free recipezaar and search for dense delicious brownies. You can experiment. Sub the chips for nuts or unsweetened coconut. Try subbing the sugar for 3/4 cup of unsweetened applesauce. Test the batter to see if it looks like regular brownies and taste it too. Add more cocoa or applesauce if desired. If they don't rise good, hey, eat them... -

Some Jello pudding has wheat in it, when I called Kraft, they said they would list it if it has wheat so double check. The jello and pudding is gluten and dairy frree unless listed on the box. Anyways I have some great ideas. Start with finding a Jello/pudding cookbook and a smoothie cookbook. Then try to freeze the recipes to see how they turn out. The Jello... -

ARCHIVED Need Casein Free Ice Cream Recipes
purple replied to taweavmo3's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
FYI I tried the chocolate. I used to make chocolate fudgesicles for my day care kids years ago, so I thought why not make ice cream. While I had out the mess from the raspberry and a bucket full of ice, I tried a sample. Here is what I did: In bowl, I whisked 3 Tablespoons of Jell-o instant chocolate pudding with 1 T. of baking cocoa and 2 cups milk. I froze... -

I made the gluten-free pumpkin muffins from tropicaltraditions.com. They are really good and will make them again. I used organic white sugar, brown rice flour and all the rest of the ingredients listed in the original recipe. My comments and alterations: I only made 1/2 of the recipe incase it didn't turn out. It still made 12 muffins. The batter seemed... -
