  2. Oh, thank you, thank you so much. My daughter tried to make homemade ones. I will be sure to get the Kettles and surprise her on her birthday.
  3. I was wondering if anyone knows if salt and vinegar potato chips are gluten-free. We live an hour away to the nearest store so I can't go look. My daughter wants some and her birthday is next week. I would like to know before I get to the store. Thanks for your input.
  4. I'm still thinking 'bout you! praying for you too!
  5. Thank you for the bittersweet laugh. How about ...you eat before or after going to a pot luck or... you take your own cake to a birthday party.
  6. I know a couple of kids that everyone says is bipolar which could be caused by gluten. They can be sooo nice at times and sooo hateful at times. We think one could be allergic to gluten so we are watching her, the other just moved across the country.
  7. My daughters osteopath diagnosed her allergic to gluten on her first doc visit very similar to this. Months before he diagnosed my mom...I think it was lead in her heart. Anyway my mom (72) is all better now. I thought he was nuts watching him. Then my daughters roommate said she had a doc that did the same thing for another problem. It works. My mom and...
  8. Given your list of edibles, make a layered bean dip. Mashed beans or refried beans and mix in some leftover rice, layer on some peppers, veggies, and whatever else you can have. Serve with corn tortilla chips if you can have them or Riceworks chips or scoop it up with celery stix. Best part- no cooking I feel bad for you, my daughter is almost 20 and...
  9. Tried something new. Make a batch of muffins. I made jumbo sized banana. Fill the tins. Then in each tin put in your favorites to make them different and according to what each person likes. Stir in a bit of raspberries or blueberries. Make a well and add a T. of jam and cover the jam. Stir in chocolate or p.b. chips, raisins, coconut or nuts. Just whatever...
  10. I took the fudge cookies to our church's women's tea and everybody wanted the recipe. It's a winner.
  11. THANKS!!! I use sorghum mostly and just started using millet. By the way...yup the fudge cookies are wonderful. I love dark chocolate! Happy cookies and sammy's to you and yours
  12. Great, you sound like a great cook!!! I don't yet have Annalise Robert's book yet but its on my list for the next one to get. Could you please post her flour mix?? Dumb Q?...what's a sammy ...a sandwich? The only sammy I know of is a 9 year old boy from Hawaii and Romania and Idaho (he travels a bit unlike me). I am from the mountains of Idaho and...
  13. Recipezaar #220821 I subbed the rice flour for sorghum. And used parchment paper. Bake at your own risk, they are addictive.
  14. I agree with ShayFL. Also I believe it is your right to check over everything b/c its for your daughters safety. Schools check for weapons and drugs. To your daughter, food is just as harmful to her health. You might consider replacing their "wrong" items with gluten-free ones just incase they messed up. Then there would be no hastle.
  15. Great advice given so far. Here is the first tip I learned. When you make something, make extra and freeze a bit for a fast meal. Get a few entrees in your freezer then when your daughter is hungry she can choose what she wants to eat. Or she can eat before going somewhere and then there is no hastle. I drop food like chili or casseroles in baggies and then...
  16. Please let me/us know how it turned out and anything you did different. I still want to try it. Thanks
  17. Ok, I will toss in my tidbit and add it to what everyone else has said. My family members are the "glutened" ones. I see their symptoms. I want them healthy. I can't put a price tag on their health, its too high. Gluten free foods are expensive (pay now or pay more later)BUT they are healthier for all of us to eat. I studied health and food last year and...
  18. I remember it well. It's on page 6 right now under "Very good bread recipe". Then scroll to the middle under FiddleFaddle where it says ready in one hour. Another comment says where they put it in bags, just read all of FiddleFaddle's comments
  19. I don't have the same problem of Celiac but I used to to day care for years. Some things I learned: Wash hands often and don't touch ears or eyes or face Don't drink milk when you have a cold Boost the immune system Could be related to vaccinations Possible over use of antibiotics and may not help colds anyway Toxic overload-mercury from the mother...
  20. Ditto...Welcome! Everyone here is so smart, helpful, encouraging, comforting, understanding, etc. I am somewhat new too. I am here to learn for my family and others and to help others with what I learn. You will get healthier! and feel better! and learn so much!
  21. I just made this but with wheat pasta for my husband. I am sure it would be tastey with Gluten free. Ingredients amount vary according to your taste and what your favorite add ins are. Italian Pasta Salad 1 1/2 cups dry pasta, boiled and drained 1 15 oz. can black beans, rinsed and drained 1 15 oz. can Italian diced tomatoes, undrained 1/2 pkg....
  22. Here is a pretty good banana bread recipe: recipezaar #301233. Its dairy, egg and gluten free. I made muffins with it and baked them about 20-25 mins. I used sorghum flour for the brown rice flour and next time I will use less cinnamon. I used 1/2 water and 1/2 almond milk. My daughter loved them. The next batch I left out one banana and the cinnamon and...
