ARCHIVED Should I Try To Contact Birth Parents After Testing Positive?
cassP replied to shopgirl's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
i like both suggestions above... i think you should send your birth mom the information, so she can get tested if she wants. you'll feel relieved that you passed on the information. -

you should limit your gluten free treats... (ie: cookies, cereals, muffins, cakes, breads).. and try to mostly stick to naturally gluten free foods at least for a little while you should avoid or limit dairy for a little while it might not hurt you at all to eat the above- but you'll probably feel better faster if you limit/avoid them -

cassP replied to norahsmommy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
your husband could still be gluten intolerant without having significant symptoms.. i read a study months ago (i think out of columbia university) that only 1 in 6 Celiacs have any gut symptoms. Also.. while Gluten absolutely kills me... and Dairy affects me- but not too bad... back in 1998, before i experimented with No Carb diets & i was eating more... -

ANYONE that has issues with Gluten (rather Gluten Intolerant or Celiac or not sure) & continues to eat Gluten will all suffer from some kind of Inflammation. im not sure how to answer all your questions- but Gluten Intolerance can definitely be dire! cassP replied to jeanne-'s topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
i would agree your gall bladder could be having issues.. maybe you should get that checked with your doctor. also- i sometimes use a product called Gold Coin Grass.. i can only find it at: www.sensiblehealth.com in Canada- it's a Chinese tincture that helps to soften & dissolve gall stones, plus it helps the stomach to create digestive juices. OR... -

sometimes your gastro symptoms can almost be 90% better within a week or maybe 3 weeks... but i think it takes longer for your period symptoms to reduce- i think because the cycle is pretty much a whole month- and sometimes it takes a month or 2 to change how the cycle is gonna be..?? make sense?? like if i went gluten free one week.. but my period was coming... -

ARCHIVED Can My Response To Gluten Change With Time?
cassP replied to rustycat's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
i dont know if there's any rhyme or reason to it... i had a few symptoms that were fairly consistent.... (painful gas/"C"/bloating/itchy/irritable/super sleepy or "high"/acid reflux)... but i also had random crazy symptoms like Tachycardia with OVERHEATING & NAUSEA... or CRAZY anxiety.. and of course the BMS were stereotypical but more "C" than "D... -

well, i feel better OFF dairy... but i still eat it i have an addiction. before i went on atkins 12 years ago- i used to have daily "D" (which i assume is the Lactose Intolerance, Because gluten usually gives me "C"). anyways... so far i feel no reactions to the Synthroid. but i am nervous about the iodine a little, cause i have DH.. its not bad.. but... -

cassP replied to krishna's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
i am NOT a doctor or a scientist- but i have a theory ( and funny enough, the last time i saw my GI- he actually sounded like he had a similar one)... I THINK (and just humor me as having an active imagination).. i think that those with DQ2 & DQ8s may only need 1 or 2 simple triggers to start down the path of Celiac... and then all the other DQ genes... -

ARCHIVED Antibody Testing Vs Gene Testing
cassP replied to bincongo's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
funny that ravenwood just mentioned how one could be triggered by pregnancy... then be mistaken that there's a problem & just think that it's "baby blues"... cause i just had this conversation today at work... i just got diagnosed with Hypothyroid (probably Hashimotos).. and i just made excuses for how i felt because i was stressed or didnt get enough... -
oh Rowena- it is DEFINITELY possible for Gluten to be the culprit for all your issues... still smart to check the vitamin levels- as Gluten Intolerance can really leave you with a few deficiencies! yes- it requires blood drawn ( i know i cant stand it either.. in fact, i chickened out of my vit D test on monday- because it has to be refridgerated.....
-
good idea to get your vitamin levels checked- & maybe get a thyroid test too- that can also affect you getting pregnant & the health of your baby
