  1. i HAVE read online, and totally believe that Gluten can be a trigger/or aggravate MS, Lupus, Crohns, etc. Hashimoto's-> ask almost everyone on here- gluten is so tied in with thyroid issues- and SO many Gluten Intolerant people & Celiacs actually have Hashimotos. i JUST read yesterday that people with RA have elevated TTG. ive also read...
  2. i am totally loving the Hemp milk!!! u should try it. and try it for at least 3 days... because the first day i hated it- had a fishy taste like Flax products... but i am NOT LYING to u- it just tastes normal to me now- and better than almond milk- i was totally surprised how my taste buds adapted
  3. ya, for me- eating a paleo type diet balanced my bloodsugar. i do best with small portions of meat, fat,& veggies for every meal. even if i was to drink a glass of carrot juice- i would want to follow it with some nuts or meat or something- i rarely just do sugar by itself - even healthy stuff like carrot juice - that's just too much sugar, can send u...
  4. ya- Enterolab usually writes out what the tests mean. to me: it looks like you're positive on antigliadin and ttg (the main gluten antibodies) & you have issues with dairy. and it looks like your genes are: DQ2 & DQ8 ( i think that's what it says, the genetic speak is tricky-> anyways, 2 & 8 are the "classic" genes associated with Celiac...
  5. i only had a 7, but TTG Iga is only ONE test of many you should be getting if you want a complete answer to the celiac dx if someone is Iga Deficient, their TTG Iga will be a false negative or inconclusive.
  6. corn?? i have a theory that we may be ok with some foods (ie: corn, soy, legumes)-> but then we eat some "version" or processed byproduct and our body freaks out..??? that just seems to be my experience... OR maybe the different versions of the food are getting absorbed at different times thruout the body. dont know if that sounds strange- but that...
  7. this is true too! i got salmonella years ago- and it took about 10-12 hours to hit me
  8. agree with above posters- get her tested now while she's still eating gluten.. my theory (and from what ive read) is that the disease is expressing itself sooner and sooner these days just because there are more and more triggers--> our diet is worse, the food is more genetically modified and more glutinous than before, and a bunch of other controversial...
  9. if u like to slow cook- do a pot roast yumm and if u actually like broccoli raw- that's pretty good- i only like mine boiled till soft... so just look at it differently- eat the veggies u like cooked, and those u like raw- they're all mostly good for u
  10. things to try (if you havent already): metamucil the night before or prunes the night before. IF u dont have a fructose issue like i do, then i am telling you-> a nice big pear in the evening makes for great bms the following morning... or a nice big Mango & banana-> it's great also, when u first wake up- a glass of warm water with lemon...
  11. yes.... what would u like to know??
  12. ?? but sugar shouldnt hurt u like fructose does... im not sure what you're asking exactly... i havent tried Udi's yet... ive tried Rudi's and several Rice & Millet breads... & Glutino Bagels--> they all make me feel slightly bloated & fat (i am one of those who just simply feels better on VERY FEW complex carbs/grains), BUT they dont put...
  13. can she get in to omelettes?? Or "breakfast for dinner"? eggs and veggies is one of the few ways to do gluten-free more cheap... I also do a big pot of tinkyada with canned salmon,broccoli,peas,evoo,romano-yum (salmon has hardly any mercury while tuna is best avoided while pregnant) and search this forum- ive seen a lot of cheaper and easier recipes on...
  14. strawberries, pineapple, melons, blueberries dont bother anyone with FM because the sucrose content is equal to or greater than the fructose content. apples, however do usually affect people with fructose malabsorption- altho- sometimes i can get away with a small apple... but a pear or a date- forget it. and everyone with fructose issues has different reactions...
  15. this is all so frustrating- im worried about u and your sister! i hope that you can find the help that you two need! and i hope that both of you realize this whole situation is truly only temporary, and that life will get a lot better i understand total depression & anxiety, and i KNOW gluten can contribute greatly to those conditions. i think a lot...
  16. is it possible at all that you may have had any food poisoning recently? or bad eggs?? idk... if you have Fructose Malabsorption (google it), then Maple Syrup & Agave Nectar could be the culprits.. ALTHO- while fructose can give me STABBING pains and have me doubled over, it doesnt send me to the bathroom for several visits with "D"... it usually just...
  17. i cannot answer as to what is in your groin area- but i CAN tell u my experience with gluten & wheat & skin issues. i have had DH, psoraisis, excema, dandruff, and hives-> all but the DH have disappeared with going gluten free. ive only had this DH for about 2 months, and have only been 100% gluten free for 3 1/2 months. over the past...
  18. Tinkyada brown rice pasta anything is my favorite!!!!! i cant imagine why anyone wouldnt like it ???!!!! and sometimes i like to just do a bolognese sauce over basmati rice
  19. yes- sounds like classic fructose malabsorption!! i actually can handle a little honey with my fruit or yogurt, and a small amount of watermelon- but pears/apples/dates, etc... and other stuff on that fodmap diet can almost give me WORSE pain than gluten as far as the soda- the High Fructose Corn Syrup would be too much fructose.. & also Caramel...
  20. totally agree... and i still have gluten cravings that almost are as bad as ciggarette cravings... somedays i just wanna say: "F it" and go get a glutinous pizza hut pan pizza or a happy meal. ya- i needed a diagnosis to really get serious for real. and food has a much larger hold on me than alcohol. i dont have any addiction to alcohol- i could drink...
  21. it IS hard, but im jealous you live in NYC- there's prolly a lot more options for u-> i recently saw there's a restaurant on Bleeker i want to go to next trip- called: Risotteria (i think)- it's mostly or all gluten free... gluten-free pasta & pizza options, etc The Cupcake Stop truck has SOME gluten-free options... there's a lot more too...
  22. there's no reason for alarm, you may just be hypersensitive now... (since going 100% gluten free- i now have stronger reactions to additional intolerances OR maybe our bodies have become more vigilant) but- maybe you should get your liver checked too by your doc
  23. Celiac & Hashimotos often go together!!!! not always- but it IS common. i have Celiac, my mom has hashimotos... i am getting my thyroid panel next week- i am 95% sure ive got the hashimotos too YOU have a good doc- he knows his stuff- YES false negatives are common- around 20%. Do NOT listen to your daughter's pediatrician. SO MANY of us on here have...
  24. rice dream has barley or barley malt in it- which means it has gluten. I would at the very least call u gluten intolerant.
  25. i still have bowel issues if im consuming too much dairy or caffeine. i also have fructose malabsorption-> but whilst consuming fructose gives me excruciating intestinal cramps- it usually makes for great BMs. (unless the fructose/fructans come in the form of overdoing the salad greens.)
