ARCHIVED Feeling Guilty For Being Sick
cassP replied to Aeva's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
i totally feel for you. i live alone, so i can monitor the gluten free pretty well... i used to feel more bloated going home- untill i realized just how vigilant i had to be- my parents understood kind of what i needed to avoid- but they wouldnt realize how wheat was in almost everything- like even the "demi-glase" they would use to make the sauce for a steak... -
ARCHIVED Intro And Questions About Testing Options
cassP replied to worriedmama's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
i understand... it took me a good few months to really understand all the testing, and the dna, etc... i got 2 celiac blood panels few years ago- and never really understood them... and since most of my results were inconclusive & i didnt get the endoscopy- i still ate gluten on occasion... thinking i was just "gluten sensitive" the dna- or Genetic... -
ARCHIVED Skeptical, But Any Thoughts?
cassP replied to fallout1's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
WHOA that is a long article, and i just read most of it. ummm... i think there is SOME truth within that article- but in it's entirety i think it is innaccurate. i definitely believe we have a lot more of CERTAIN kinds of diseases in our over industrialized & over medicated world compared to simpler less modern places. but it's not the main reason... -

cassP replied to musicmom2's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
i never had growing pains..?? but on my 1st or 2nd day- my Quadriceps throb as much as my uterus does- it's the most annoying pain.. i take advil & hit my quads with my fist till it subsides. im guessing it has something to do with potassium??? idk really... i dont think it has anything to do with Celiac... BUTTTTTT i am 100% certain- that ANY menstrual... -

cassP replied to rdunbar's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
even if you're strictly gluten free- if you're still having a DH flare up- i would think that biopsy would be positive. but im not an expert on the DH. and i TOO would like to know how long it takes for the DH to go away after being gluten-free .... ive only been 100% gluten-free for over 2 months. i have what i think is DH right below my navel. my GI... -

ARCHIVED Made Doctors Appointment
cassP replied to rdunbar's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
like others have said on here- get a biopsy adjacent to your DH as soon as you can- a positive DH dx is a positive Celiac dx... then you'll never have to worry about going on any kind of gluten challenge for blood tests!! good luck with the rest dont worry yourself sick with the "people with DH have higher risks of lymphoma & cancer"... that... -

cassP replied to jstanton8's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
oh we are very interested too- i love to see people's results... especially cause we all know so much about them- i hope your doctor ordered all the tests that should be done as many of them dont. depending on your blood results- you may not need a biopsy. it depends on what you need for yourself really. it's good to have your doc check for other problems... -

ARCHIVED Starkist Tuna
cassP replied to CarolinaKip's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
i used to always feel BLOATED and gross after canned tuna in water, or canned tuna in vegtable broth (SOY always)... canned tuna in olive oil seemed to be ok for me. but ive now switched to canned salmon for sustainability & mercury reasons. at first it was hard, because it was more fishy. i actually did buy tuna recently cause i missed it.. and... -
ARCHIVED Side Effects Of Long-Term Prilosec?
cassP replied to bridgetm's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
let me just add here from experience: stop taking prilosec!! i agree with the above posters- because i dont think prilosec would result in the aggressive watery "D"... BUT- i took Zantac for over 4 years DAILY... ended up with Hypochlorhydria.. (LOW stomach acid). my Alternative doc gave me a book to read about stomach acid- i try to preach whenever... -
ARCHIVED Need Help!
cassP replied to Simona19's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
you said his blood test was positive. that's really all you and he need. HOWEVER, if he needs a biopsy to get motivated, or if you need it for health charts & records... then do it. i understand being scared... but as you know- it's a super super easy procedure and quick and painless. BUT at the same time- false negative biopsies occur too. i dont... -

i understand the "poor me" thing totally. ive been craving gluten A LOT lately... yesterday at work, all i could think about was those "crispies" from Long John Silver!! when i was a kid, you could just buy a side of crispies (left over fried breading".... and ive been feeling so much better- that im starting to get that false sense of security- like maybe... -
if you're not interested right now in an accurate celiac test... but you just wanna feel better & lessen your reflux before your run- then go gluten free for now- and probably dairy free, at least till you're done. i dont know all the running rules- but if you have to "Carb Up" for your training.... there are tons of other grains out there besides...

cassP replied to Tidings's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
are you a celiac? or gluten intolerant? how long have you been gluten free? have you had your B12 levels checked?? alot of gluten intolerant people and celiacs get numbness/tingling in their hands &/or feet due to LOW levels of B12. my sis in law had a B12 level of 211 and she was dizzy and had the tingling in her hands and feet.
