  1. it IS confusing-> it's easier if you read the "Serological Equivalent"-> which shows your daughter has one DQ 6 and one DQ 9. once you do more of your own homework- you'll see that there are more DQ genes possibly involved with Celiac also- many people get false negatives with blood AND biopsies... many times people don't get a positive test result...
  2. if i eat a banana ALONE- i will most likely end up on the verge of throwing up- seriously- i always have to eat it with something (ie: a nut butter, a gluten-free cereal, etc). sometimes i cant handle sweet potatoes- dont know if its the fructose or mannitol. tuna was bloating me up too- but i think i figured out it was the kind that was canned in broth...
  3. it might just be that it's just too much fiber for someone with a compromised digestive system to handle... not a big deal. when my little brother was a toddler- whenever he had "C", he would scream for my mom to get him apple juice to help him go. maybe u could try mixing it with water- or waiting till he's more stable... or just picking a different juice...
  4. it was normal for me- (losing weight after taking wheat & gluten out of my diet). there are studies about Wheat Germ Agglutin contributing to Insulin resistance. and some Celiacs & people with a Gluten Intolerance (even if they have the "D") are heavier or more bloated while still eating gluten because when the body is inflammed- more cortisone is...
  5. u might have a problem with fructose. google Fructose Malabsorption. i think it's based on new studies out of Australia... but after months of being doubled over in pain- i found info on it- and it completely rang true for me. i still have to eliminate some other things-probably some sugar & grains, and of course dairy.. BUT- i can tell u- since i stopped...
  6. you can MOST DEFINITELY be a Celiac and feel better after only 2 weeks Gluten Free!!! it's true that many Celiacs take 3 weeks to several months to feel completely healed- BUT- you can DEFINITELY feel an improvement pretty quickly! that was an odd statement from your doc.
  7. im so glad you have a neurologist who is good enough to consider celiac- your test result numbers are high enough to convince me, but im not your doc. also wanted to tell u- that i recently read an article out of Columbia University- that ONLY 1 in 6 Celiacs have any gut symptoms! that is HUGE. i met a guy on twitter too- and he never had gut symptoms- he...
  8. i like her- i follow her on twitter
  9. im likin this one right now-> Open Original Shared Link
  10. thanku everyone for the info! daisy- i called Starbucks recently- the LIGHT frapps have Gluten in the ingredients.... the REG frapps do not- BUT she said: "made in a facility that also processes wheat"- i got a green tea frap yesterday... but cant always digest milk... was not a good idea
  11. im new to the 100% gluten free... question- do we ALWAYS have to avoid "natural flavors" & "artificial flavors" ?? it's EVERYWHERE still confused on that one. and.. LOVE David Sedaris
  12. OMG im gonna have to make that lasagna someday! YUM
  13. i want to buy some of that Mastic Gum- sounds great. GSE is Grapefruit Seed Extract- very bitter, but supposedly can kill almost any bacteria, virus, microbe, candida, etc. i LOVE the stuff- the burning stopped, AND my sinusitis got 90% better. but i only did the 3 doses for a month. ive had GERD a few times, and my sinuses have started to be inflamed...
  14. you can have BOTH Gluten Intolerance & a Wheat Allergy. they both require a Wheat & Gluten Free Diet. as far as lactose- everyone's different- some people say Lactaid helps, others have to eliminate it. and some on here say that after going Gluten free for some time- they've healed enough and can digest dairy. good luck, im having a real tuff...
  15. Lucia is ABSOLUTELY right- women would definitely be so relieved to hear that your issue is with Gluten, and not an STD. my boyfriend doesnt let me wear lipstick anyways, because he doesnt want it on his lips... even when i wear gloss- he has a hissy fit, lol no matter how silly OR serious- we all compromise in relationships- your situation is...
  16. i found this link a few weeks ago- because i definitely need to know how to get my drink on when the time comes- Open Original Shared Link
  17. i love L-Glutamine! it really helps heal the gut.. i also LOVE Ghee! (clarified butter)- it contains Butyratic Acid or something that heals your small intestine. and yes- your B12 is too low... take your tablets- and even look into shots- see if your doc or a clinic nearby does them. my sister in laws was at 200, and she was already weak & having tingling...
  18. just wanted to share-> as far as my parents & siblings, and my best friends, & several other friends- the diets have been about 95% correct.
  19. Absolutely! it's so hard- some dairy im ok with- small amounts of cottage cheese, ricotta, & butter. but cream, milk, ice cream, & aged cheese are hard on my system i have to stop it or limit it, but im not ready yet so, ya i totally understand. oh, also, i get GOAT milk yogurt at whole foods- and am fine with it. and Hemp milk with my gluten...
  20. well- i for one am happy someone posted something on lectins... (breathe cassie- u know everyone's gonna start shooting u down)... BECAUSE- you're on to something RICEGUY- but- this article is only slightly incorrect- because, like everything else out there in the media- it's still a "one size fits all"... take it one step further and read anything by Dr...
  21. LOLOL
  22. your GI is gonna know more about Celiac than your PCP (in theory)... so, continue with his word & the diet. but you should also get copies of your blood & endoscopy results from your GI- to keep in your own file- because this is a disease that the patient really has to learn all they can. the docs are a little behind on Celiac- so it's good for you...
  23. ive had horrendous sinusitis off & on for the last 5 years... it would get better off gluten. ive only been 100 % gluten free for almost 5 weeks. i have had some sinus issues but it's been much better. i get an elevated congestion with dairy.. but the miserable allergy sinus headache i HAVE gotten- once with a Soy/Agave Nectar Miso gluten-free salad dressing...
  24. DEFINITELY go see your doc/GI about this- sounds like GERD to me- a gluten free diet will help- but there are other foods & factors that contribute to GERD- and make sure the doc really looks at u- and considers a scope- chronic GERD can lead to Barret's Esophagus. a gluten intolerant(celiac?) girl i follow on twitter has to get regular scopes. i...
  25. ok, merbear- listen to your dietician! & do your research- i like all the replies here- esp. skylarks- you definitely need to do your diet 100%- even tho you dont feel gut symptoms- you could end up with cancer or heart disease. not trying to scare you- but this is the reality. dont freak out if you get CC once in a while- it happens... but give...
