ang1e0251 - I think you may be on to something in regards to the iron levels - I just realized that I've been eating ice constantly for the last several weeks. I realized it as I was sitting here, you guessed it, eating ice! I know that is believed by some to be a symptom of an iron deficiency..... Not sure if I'll run by there tomorrow or just wait til... -

Thanks for posting that link, Jestgar. These dizzy spells are kind of strange......they're not like the 'head rush' type where you feel lightheaded and see stars or darkening vision. They're very brief (3-10 seconds or so) and it's like my head is 'buzzing' (think of an off air TV station or radio station with the white noise, and add in a buzzing, and... -

Another update....... Day two of this period was pure hell. The worst I've ever had (or that I remember anyway). Cramps were so bad, I ended up taking 10 ibuprofens throughout the course of the day, and I rarely take them for anything anymore. Bleeding/clotting was really heavy, and I was convinced that my uterus was going to fall out. Day three wasn... -
ARCHIVED Elizabeth Hasselbeck On Leno

I've been looking forward to this book for a while now. I'm glad it will be available soon! The actual title is "The Gluten-Free Diet: A Gluten Free Survival Guide" and it's due out May 4. I just checked the two big book sellers online and both have it available for pre-order. That's disappointing that Leno cut her off when she tried to talk about... -
Here's another super quick and easy recipe - but OH SO YUMMY coffee drink. Take two ounces of espresso (liquid form - you could also use really strong coffee) and put it in a blender with 4-5 nice sized scoops of vanilla ice cream, and maybe a tiny bit of milk. Blend well, and you have a delicious espresso shake! I have done this with regular...

Just another little update.......... All my test results came back normal, for which I am thankful! I had 17 days between periods (last one ended on Feb 16, this one started yesterday, Mar 5 - making this a 48-ish day cycle). So far this one has been closer to 'normal' for me, but closer to what 'normal' was before going gluten free. Extremely painful... -
Missed/late Periods After Going Gluten Free?
ohsotired replied to nw0528's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi Nicole, I'm 34, have been on the gluten-free diet since late August last year, and have recently begun my own trials & tribulations regarding my Auntie Flo. Started off on the gluten-free diet with periods being pretty normal except for the fact that I suddenly had no real PMS and none of the usual symptoms to let me know it was coming. This... -

Just wanted to give an update on this........ My period ended up lasting 31 days from start to finish. I went to my appt with the gyn today, and they ran a pregnancy test (neg), a vaginal ultrasound (all looked normal - no cysts or fibroids), a pap smear with hpv screen and a cervical biopsy (yeow!). So now I get to wait for the pathology report,... -
Yay! Congrats on the successful meal! Outback is, thus far, my 'go to' restaurant when we go out - which isn't often, but they do a great job for me. We've eaten there several times with no problems [knocking on wood ]. The flourless brownie is TO.DIE.FOR. Good to know I can order ahead with no nuts! I don't have a problem with them, digestive wise...

Not much to report back after today's appt.....although I have to say I like this new doctor. She spent close to an hour with me, just talking about different things (my recent switch to gluten free, family history, etc) and answering questions I had. We didn't do an exam today, which irked me a little, since I did pay a co-pay. But that's the modern health... -

I had considered this possibility as well. I had a miscarriage twelve years ago, and this seems to share some similarities to that except for one thing - I had EXCRUCIATING cramping when I miscarried. I also didn't bleed for this long back then. Still.........think I'll be asking the doc about that...... -

Hmmm.....possibly. I'm 34. I think my mother was in her early 40s when she started menopause. If that's what this is, then I'm possibly in for a loooooong and crazy ride. My husband will no doubt divorce me before it's over! LOL (My mother endured menopause for almost 10 years before feeling any kind of relief of symptoms. ) Quite the contrary... -
I didn't want to hijack Ashley's thread, so I'm starting a new one. I'm experiencing some extreme weirdness with my cycle this month, and I'm wondering if any of you ladies can relate at all. Since going gluten free, all the signs that say "Aunt Flo is coming" (irritability, breast tenderness, lower backache) seem to have gone away. Not necessarily a bad...

ARCHIVED Swollen Hands After Waking Up
ohsotired replied to I hate gluten's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I had this too, right after going gluten free. For me it lasted a month or two, and I haven't noticed it since (only been gluten free for about 5 months or so). For me it was hands first, then my feet started doing it too, but to a lesser degree than my hands. My hands were just swollen enough that my skin felt tight, and my joints hurt. My doc... -

You can also get them in a frozen concentrate form. Great for smoothies. Check out sambazon (dot) com - this is the brand we use at work (coffee/smoothie shop) and they're awesome. Sambazon also has pre-made smoothies and energy drinks, as well as acai sorbet. They also have the supplements, but I too, would opt for any of the drinks over a pill. Just... -
I went to Digestive Health Associates Texas, in Frisco. They have other offices as well - I see a couple of doctor's listed in Ft Worth, but also in Mansfield and H-E-B, as well as other metro locations. PM me if you want doc recommendations.

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Bakery In Austin?
ohsotired replied to mayleigh's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Just did a quick Google search and found the WildWood Art Cafe (Open Original Shared Link). Site doesn't mention if they do wedding cakes, but it would be worth a phone call for sure! I'm thinking that as health concious as Austin is, that there are likely to be more places, but that's all I found in a quick search. I know it would be a hike, but... -
ARCHIVED Glutino Bagels

Personally, I REALLY like the Glutino bagels! But then, I haven't had a real bagel in years, even though I was only dx'd a few months ago......avoidance, and all that. So if you're craving them, go ahead and spend the money - I don't think you'll be sorry! Just a tip on preparing them, though....... I microwave them for about 30-40 seconds... -

I ate at Outback tonight for the second time since going gluten free. Both experiences were a little iffy, but only because the staff was flustered. They didn't have a copy of the gluten-free menu handy, they printed it right off the website (both times) - but tonight, I beat them to it since I had a copy in my purse from the last visit. But I do have...

I have both of those books, and haven't tried any of the bagel recipes. I'm a little afraid of them. LOL I will tell you though, that if you want some 'instant gratification' and can find them in a store near you, Glutino makes some dang good bagels. They'll be in your freezer section. I nuke 'em in the mircowave for about 40 seconds (defrost) then...
