    ARCHIVED Neuro Appt

Ihad my firwst neuro appt today. My chief complaints are nerves that tingle, fasiculations throughout my whole body, aches and pains, cognitive changes, and intermittent eye pain. The doc recognized that celiac can cause problems neurologically. I also had a classic migraine today to confuse things. He listened, but I doubt perfectly, because I told him I...
  2. I've had days where I feel just like you. 16 days was my record up until this month(7). I also remember being financially strapped in college and having celiac would have made buying groceries all the more difficult. I CAN'T eat anything someone else cooks. It is ALWAYS poisoned no matter how safe it seems. There are some threads around about eating on the...
  3. Hey, some of us still need jeans with butts in them. I don't want to drive 45 minutes to glutenville to try on jeans. Talk about a day from... All employers within the metropolis would be gluten free. No more hospitals with wheaty lunch trays to work around. If we are building a 4 million metropolis, we have room for farms, grainerys, and machinery that...
  4. This is how a kindergarten classroom was handled in a school I worked at. Only snacks on a designated list were allowed to be brought to school by anyone in the class. The celiac parent provided more than her fair share of snacks, so did the teacher (remember teaches do this out of their own pocket), and other parents volunteered to send in boxes off the...
  5. Sailihng Girl, For what they are worth, here are my opinions. 1) You are NOT crazy. I've not figured out the way to appear sane about this gluten thing to non-celiacs, but you are most definately not crazy. 2) You need to do whatever necessary to keep yourself and your daughter safe. 3) My philosophy is that this is my problem, not theirs, and if...
  6. Thanks for the link. I love the photo recipies. I got hungry and decided to brew up something in the kitchen. 1 cup Bob's Pancake Mix 1/2 cup soy milk EnerG egg replacer sweet oil salt thyme It turned out pretty good. Strangely whole wheaty tasting and looking. It rose and baked up right away. I think the consitency was better than that...
  7. I've got the leftover chicken, plenty of veggies, and little regard for making it perfect. I just want something dumplingish in my recipe. Think you can help? I don't even remember how to make dumplings with gluten. Oh, I'm casein and egg allergic too. Ingredients I have around: Bob's all purpose gluten-free flour mix Bob's Pancake mix Egg replacer...
  8. Ooo. I wish my weekend was open. It's 1 1/5 hours of driving to get there, but I have relatives in the area I could visit. (Step relatives, so no celiacs).
  9. Hopefully my other post will have been deleted. My hand bumped the keyboard at an inopportune time and my post came out looking more like spam. I stumbled across this website Open Original Shared Link which has ingredients and safety ratings for thousands of products based on their ingredients. The site is an organization that is advocating regulation...
  10. I'm in the super sentitive group. It's been 6 months, and after several reactions, I've quit eating out. It would be a hard sell to get me to come to your restaraunt, but there are 2 places I've had success, and might be willing to give it another try if I had the right vibe after a conversation with the chef and knew he was personally cooking it. I've...
  11. I was eating Arrowhead mills they are associated with Hain Celestial (Hain is in small print on the back). I wonder if the flax flower produces something that looks like wheat that got into the line. It sure was pointy and solid and tan like grumpy Mr. Wheat man in the advertisement on the right. Hmmm. Maybe I'll give it a month or two and then try again...
  12. I'm a Marsh Stage IIIc and when I'm in a room with hot gluten or freshly broken gluten (like breaking a cookie in half), I start yawning uncontrollably, snuffle up, and get a headache. It is bad enough that I was reeling after going to the grocery store 2 weeks ago. I have not had my 6 month blood draw yet. I still don't feel great, but keep getting mystery...
  13. Does anyone work at a pharmacy? Are the little trays the pharmacists count the pills on cleaned between countings? Do I need to worry about CC from someone elses meds? I would consider myself super sensitive as I have a neurologic reaction on inhaling gluten. (No, I'm not snorting it like cocaine).
  14. My advice is to take that soup and split it into freezer bags. Weeks of the same meal can get old, but if you have an different soup to pull out of the freezer every other day, you can go farther. I crock pot at least once a week. All the left overs go in the pot in the evening, and I turn it on before bed and then again when I go to work. I never let...
  15. I just spent the best spring day out in the garden. I grabbed a soda and started wondering if there were hidden sources of gluten anywhere in my garden. I would consider myself super sensitive and spend much of the summer outside eating and especially drinking while I make the flowers grow. Don't say just wash your hands well, because real life is too much...
  16. Love their products. O-glow is just fine with my dry skin and no more pimples. (that could be from being gluten-free though). Regarding powder management: 1) puff jars are great for blush. Don't lift the jar off your face as you "bounce" it. Just use the elasticity in your skin as you tap. 2) I don't tap the brushes before applying. This keeps the dust...
  17. I get neuro symptoms with a bit of reflux. My experimental remedies are 1-2 excedrine. It helps with the body pain/headache and the caffine helps with the fatigue. The downside is that the asprin in it is a little rough on my stomach and is a blood thinner, so with the ataxia, I always wind up with a good bruise or two. I also eat bunches of flax seeds...
  18. To make a long story short: The guy on the info line at Proctor and Gamble couldn't find the source of the tocepherol acetate in 3 of the products I called about. I got the we label our wheat in cosmetics CYA, but couldn't get any thing more specific about the tocepherol acetate. Have any of you gotten a phone agent with better access to proctor and gamble...
  19. So I'm eating one of my favorite little snacks and sources of fiber. Nutty flavored flax seeds. I look into the bowl and see what looks like a grain of wheat that has been smashed a little. I handed it to my husband and asked him what he thought it was. He said bird seed. I said impossible (because it is), then he said Wheat! (Our old birdseed had wheat in...
  20. Unhappy Coeliac, I'm sorry that you got glutened. Staying sane through a hunger attack without giving in to the cravings is so difficult isn't it. Best of wishes taking care of yourself as you get over your glutening and busy time at work. Canned Fruit, a mini opener, and Laura Bars have saved me on several occassions. I also have mini snack packs at...
  21. Thanks for posting this thread. I consider it incredibly relevant. Like so many of you, I've struggled with my fertility options for years without a baby in my arms. As much as I would like to experience pregnancy, I want motherhood the most. Celiac had almost robbed me of even that dream. I was so tired, I didn't think I could raise a child and my husband...
  22. I have my grocery list like kbtoyssni's parents, and on the reverse side, I have meals organized into categories. (I used to have them by cassarole, soup, baked etc., but recently, I switched to options for each night of the week due to brain fog). Then each week before grocery shopping, I circle the meals I want to make, then flip the page over and circle...
  23. I've had two occassions that I didn't eat anything, but was 15 feet from several pizzas and the same for a potluck. Both times, I got neuro symptoms and left the room. That is how I knew to leave as soon as I smelled the panini maker cooking lunch for the ladies at work. Thanks for thinking about the pebbles. I can't remember if the box was new. ...
  24. I got it today. I'm retracing, and once again, I can't figure it out. I'm dumb as a rock in my brain after getting glutened too. Sorry for the bad sentences. Coco pebbles and Silk Soy for breakfast. Work at the hospital. Smelled hot gluten, but moved right away. 3 minutes of exposure. Grocery store. Booked it through the bakery. Lady cooking something...
  25. Here is how I deal with my families. It isn't perfect, but I've been safe. My family: Mom asks if I can eat her main dish. I say maybe, we talk it over, and always decide that the answer is no. We agree that I will prepare her veggies at her house and bring my own meat and snacks. I bake a potato in the microwave, and she buys a tiny tub of soy ice cream...
