ARCHIVED I'm Sick! What Kind Of Meds?
wschmucks replied to *Daniella*'s topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I am pretty sure that Vicks Dayquil and Nitequil are gluten free. I had a cold a few months ago and I took them. Google it though first. Get better. -
ARCHIVED Christmas Goodies
wschmucks replied to Cupcakery's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
If you are making these and selling them, I would not use oats. We Celiacs are already nervous to eat anything in a package-- especially at a bakery, resturant, etc. You want your costumers to always have a good experience when they buy food from you. Because of our severe reaction, if we have a bad experience I will garentee that you will loose a customer... -
Are Halls Gluten Free
wschmucks replied to 1morething's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yes! They are gluten free. I am always nervous about "natural"...themed products, like Halls natural (im always scared they will have gluten in there), so i personally stay away from those types of flavors. But technically yes-- they have said their products are gluten-free. Feel better! -
Ghirardelli Chocolate
wschmucks replied to JennyC's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi! I was just wondering the same thing. There is a wonderful post from Sees candy-- who have basically said that almost all of their chocolate is gluten free, with the exception of specialty holiday candy (that may have extra decorative ingredients that may include gluten)....So i am taking this to mean that the majority of their regularly stocked items... -
OK- so it sounds like the greatest danger is an accidental crouton. I dont use dressing-- just olive oil, so other than those two things it sounds like if im every going to eat out this is the safest bet. Sound about right? Thanks for all the help....maybe I'll work up the corage to eat out onnnnne day :-)

Hi Everyone! if i am at a resturant or take out place etc. is ordering a salad risky-- if there are no crutons, no dressing....is it ok? I am only 2 months gluten free and have not really been able to feel out out sensetive i am yet. I still get glutened probably every 10 days or so (Does that mean im not being careful enough, or is it part of the...

ARCHIVED Chocoholics There Is Hope
wschmucks replied to Deanne's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Ghirardelli's statement was revised in 2008 :-( they stated that their milk chocolate bars have been reformulated and now contain gluten from barley and that these bars share the same equipment as their chocolate squares. Their White chocolate chips also contain gluten. Their powdered hot chocolate and other chocolate chips (not white) remain gluten free... -
ARCHIVED Rice Milk Issues
wschmucks replied to jasonD2's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications

ARCHIVED Is It Silly To Worry About Lunch Meat?
wschmucks replied to mr. moore's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have a new rule (after getting glutened by tea at starbucks a few weeks back)-- Natural Flavorings=NO, unless you call or look it up online. Your monk is correct :-) it can contain barley or rye. Basically google it or call. I look things up on my blackberry at the gorcery store all the time. -
ARCHIVED What Would U Do If A Product
wschmucks replied to confused's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I had the same problem about 2 months ago. I was just diagnosed and I am pretty sure I reacted poorly to the beta-oat ingredient..it was used as a fiber source in one of those powder shakes. Since Gluten free oats are so hard to come by i would assume that it has gluten in it unless its a pure gluten-free Oats like Bob's Redmill, and even with that I'm waiting... -

ARCHIVED What Is Up With Annie's?
wschmucks posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi there! I remeber somone else asking this a while back and was wondering if there was any resolution. What is up with Amy's brand saying "gluten free" and then siting that the product is made in the same facility/ equipment as wheat products. I feel like it's physically impossible for it to be gluten free! It did not say that the product was tested... -

Hi there! I am moving to France in a few months and I have printed my resturant card and am learning French etc. But, i have trouble even identifying hidden gluten in English-- where could I find a list of thinGS like -- malt flavoriing etc. in French so that I wont be glutened? Will it be difficult or easy to find gluten free products? Do they have to...

ARCHIVED Anti-anxiety...short Term Medication- Suggestions?
wschmucks posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi there, I have experienced generalized anxiety and depressions my whole life. In college after about a month of not being able to get out of bed I was put on Lexapro and took my butt to therapy. I was on Lexapro for 2 years worked very hard to get off and have now been 1 year off the medication. I am back in therapy (after about 8 months out-- insurance... -
I have been on Amitiza for a few months now. It really is helping me but I have also become very anxious and depressed at times. I am not sure if this is directly from the medication as there are several other tirgger factors present in my life right now. I was just wondering if anyone saw a dramatic change in their over all well being once going on Amitiza...

ARCHIVED Feeling Frustrated Today...
wschmucks replied to spinsterwitch's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi there, First thing-- you need to go to a Dr who will give you the blood panel test and the endoscopy. If you're Dr wont agree, go to a new Dr. THEN you will have to go back on eating Gluten for about 6 weeks to get a positive test (this part sucks...try to look at the good-- eat whatever ur favorite gluten food is, cause you'll never have it again... -
ARCHIVED Eggs And Flax Tempeh
wschmucks replied to LCotter's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi there! I dont eat meat and do eat the Flax Temphe on a regular basis. Just be careful not to buy the "whole grain" flavor-- wheat added. But it is very good for you and has good probiotics becuase it is a fermented product. If you have always eaten eggs and have not had a problem then you're good to go with those too! Good Luck! -
ARCHIVED Flavored Teas
wschmucks replied to SandyStPeteFL's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
They do and its GREAT! I was recently Glutened at Starbucks-- Tazo tea, some have gluten. Their Ginger Green tea and a few others as well. If anything reads "natural flavoring" its very possible barley is used (wheat would have to be properly labled). I drink at least 2 cups of tea a day. Celestial Seasonings will say gluten free, and Stash Tea is 1... -
ARCHIVED New Here And Having A Difficult Time Coping
wschmucks replied to Bluedaize's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
PLEASE BR CAREFUL AT TRADER JOES! It used to be my favorite store...until i was confirmed Celiac. Almost all of their products are manufactured in the same factories-- which means major cross contamination. You should not eat anything processed in the same factory as gluten prodcuts. So just be careful :-)-- the products are all labled -
ARCHIVED The Celiac Belly
wschmucks replied to Emily Elizabeth's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Weight gain-- in my stomach area-- was my first symptom. I was 22 years old (now 24) when it started and a professional track runner...Yea...so it had nothing to do with my exercise levels or healthy eating, which is what told me it was time to go to the Doctor. Keep working out, and be nice to yourself. Dont beat yourself up about the weight gain, its not... -
Is it normal to have fluctuation weight? When I get glutened I will gain weight about 5 pounds literally over night and then a few weeks later be underweight. Its so frustrating to go on this constant yo-yo. I rarley feel like im at a good weight. i either feel under weight or over weight. Is this normal for celiacs, is this a me specific thing?
