  1. I'm sorry to hear that you don't have support at home. The only advice I have is stick to your guns and do what makes you and your baby feel better. Your ped is flat out wrong. What you eat sure does affect your baby. I breastfed both my boys. First one I had to eliminate dairy only. It caused him horrible colic. Second one was trickier. I eliminated...
  2. Maybe he will listen. It sounds like he is getting to a point that he is either wanting or having to deal with the issues. I really don't have any words of wisdom as for talking to him. I do feel your concern, however, since I too believe my brother suffers from celiac. He also has been complaining of more issues lately. He too is lactose intolerent...
  3. I've already got some ideas on what to eliminate. Time will tell.
  4. This was where I was last August. My doc wanted to put me on steroids. He didn't call it nonresponsive or refractory, just that it can "flare up" at times. If it isn't nonresponsive or refractory then why recommend steroids? Anyway, I refused and eliminated more things and got better. I'm having issues again, not near as bad as last year, so I've got...
  5. All of our meals together are gluten free. Breakfast and lunch are the only time he eats gluten at home in the form of cereal and sandwiches. I've jokingly said to him I thought he might be gluten sensitive since my oldest son went gluten free. Yes his gluten consumption is a lot less at home even more. He used to like beer and have a couple here and there...
  6. There is no way the husband is going to give up his sandwiches for lunch. As far as the food prep is concerned he does really well with it and in the kitchen. Everyone knows to avoid the one drawer in the fridge and the small section of counter that is his. He isn't as careful with the computer for example. The key board is CC'd so it has become automatic...
  7. Thanks Shauna! I needed that. I'm beginning to think I may be falling into the super sensitive category, well maybe not super sensitive, but more than a lot of people. I do make a lot, if not most of our meals from scratch anyway. I'm just gonna start back from the beginning and see how it goes.. meats, veggies, fruits, eggs, that sort of thing. I wonder...
  8. Well she needs to ingest it to cause a reaction so the actual touching it shouldn't cause damage. HOWEVER, the play doh is all over her hand and those hands touch everything and may even go into her mouth before they are washed. She could get a reaction from cross contamination from the play doh on other surfaces and then she touches them and puts her hands...
  9. Your welcome. Sadly, I will be saying goodbye to many many things again. I'm having malabsorption issues again.
  10. Well, I think I have found a reason for the slightly elevated RF I had in June..this is just my theory anyway. I don't think I am gluten free enough! Here is why...I think is elevated because gluten is still sneaking into my diet somewhere. I don't have any symptoms of RA so I believe it is the celiac causing it to be elevated. Symptoms: -fatigue...
  11. Talked to a representative at Betty Crocker today. They do not use any gluten free oats in their dedicated gluten free facility!! Yeah!
  12. You may be confusing it with the IV CT (cat scan) contrast. It is iodine based. Here is a link to a nuclear stress test. There is no iodine in the isotope. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link
  13. Persistence and intuitiveness are what it has taught me. I never gave up trying to figure out what was wrong with me even when the doctor said nothing was. Going with my gut feelings and instincts and listening to it for my self and my kids. I "knew" something was wrong, just not what. That intuition has served me well.
  14. I don't really understand the "fatty meal" for a stress test. But who knows, every place has their own taylored instructions and there are different ways to do nuclear stress tests. Are you having part of the test today and the rest on Monday? Or are you having parts of the test each day? I am an x-ray tech (I don't do nuclear medicine though) and often...
  15. The extreme mood changes before my period. My husband would comment that I was a whole different person and down right not fit to be around. In the past I wasn't like that. Since gluten free it is no longer an issue.
  16. If you don't want to do the food prep in your room, how about a foldable card table or something you can set up close to the kitchen area?
  17. My boys carry their lunch every day. Even if they tried to accomidate them, there is just too much chance of CC. If you can sucessfully get the school to accomidate you, and do it properly, that would be great!! Good luck with it and let us know how it is working. Sorry, I wasn't to helpful on your question.
  18. I was thinking the same thing. You were diagnosed with celiac in 2004! Did your doctor recommend you go gluten free then? If not, and you haven't, then it is a shame that they didn't inform you. You have suffered needlessly for 7 years. Are you planning to redo testing while you are still consuming gluten or are you going to take your previous results...
  19. Yes it is possible to be negative on blood work and positive on biopsy. Positive biopsy is a diagnosis despite the blood work results. Since you have a positive biopsy, I would go ahead and start the diet. Now that you have a diagnosis it is recommended that all first degree relatives (parents, siblings, children) get screened. They now have around a...
  20. I like Tropical Traditions organic coconut flour. Open Original Shared Link Gluten-free You will find it under "Totaly Gluten Free" and click on coconut.
  21. I wouldn't think having your gallbladder out would affect the celiac blood tests.
  22. Get your iron, ferritin, vitamin D, and thyroid checked. They all can contribute to feeling tired. The first three if low, can cause fatigue and tired symptoms. If the thyroid is hypo it can too.
  23. Are you sensitive to oats? If so Bob's Red Mill may not be safe for you. They process gluten free oats on shared lines so there is the potential for cross contamination from them. I don't tolerate any of their products anymore. You could have an issue with corn also. I'm not very helpful on the corn aspect though.
  24. I don't seem to have any symtoms of RA. I have been fatigued a lot, but that could be from a host of other things.
  25. At first it is simpler to go with naturally gluten free foods such as meats, fruits, veggies, brown/white rice, and dairy(if you can tolerate it). Betty Crocker and King Arthur have some good mixes. Rice, corn, honey nut, cinnamon, and chocolate chex are gluten free. There is a new gluten free Rice Krispies and Fruity and cocoa pebbles are gluten free...
