    ARCHIVED Constipation!

My main symptom before diagnosis was constipation. For the first year after I went gluten free if I got glutened I would get constipated. However, my reactions have changed. Now if I get glutened I ged the big D and steatorrhea. My youngest son was never constipated prior to gluten free. When he first went gluten free he became constipated and did...
  2. My youngest son I think had withdrawl. He became extremely moody and he wanted to eat constantly. It started to subside for him after about a week. Now if he gets glutened he gets moody, tempertantrums start back (he is 6 1/2), feelings get hurt/cries easy and constipated. Fun Fun! My oldest son is 10 1/2 (not diagnosed as everything is negative...
  3. DS1 went gluten free August 29th. Hubby said if I wanted to do it he would be 100% supportive!! He is going to be gluten free until Christmas break in mid December. We will do a gluten challenge then so we won't have to worry about school. Since he does not have a diagnosis or doctor's statement to back up the dietary changes, I didn't bother talking...
  4. My oldest son (10.5 yrs old) loves the Percy Jackson books and the Kane Chronicles. I decided to pick the first Percy Jackson book up and read a little bit. It was a good read! He didn't like the Harry Potter books though.
  5. I buy fisher pecans in the bag and blue diamond almonds all the time. We haven't had any problems yet.
  6. I have gallbladder issues. Last year it was functioning at 48% suboptimal but not horrible so I wasn't a surgical canidate. I found I was reacting to gluten free oat contamination in products and had a peptic ulcer. I fixed both of those things and all my symptoms went away except the weird pinching/pulling sensation in my RUQ. It only surfaced once in...

    ARCHIVED Early Signs

I bloat and my abdomen gets so distended. I also have a lot of rumbling going on. Usually in 1-2 days the big D hits.
  8. Bubble gum is always a hit.
  9. I sympathize for you. I'm so not looking forward to this. My 10.5 yr old is currently undergoing a gluten free trial and my 6.5 year old is diagnosed. Hopefully things improve!! Keep your chin up!
  10. If you can do eggs you can bake with coconut flour. It is low carb and lots of fiber. I make banana muffins all the time out of it so it would be easy to make something with blueberries.

    ARCHIVED Mcflurries?

From my understanding if glucose syrup is made from wheat it has to be declared on the lable. My son picked up some mentos and mentos gum the other day and it stated that glucose syrup(wheat) on the lable.
  12. You still could be sensitive to oats. I first had gluten free oats (Bobs Red Mill) after 7 months gluten free. I reacted horrible so I have never eaten them again. Other than that episode I was fine for a little over a year. Then new symptoms started. I thought it was my gallbladder (to some extent it was and still bothers me some now). I had a repeat...
  13. My 10.5 year old had been complaining he can't fall asleep for the past few nights and that he is tired after school. He is currently doing a trial of gluten free and has been completely gluten free since Monday. Not sure if it is related or not...hmm
  14. What are you intrested in? My husband has turned me onto some books that I never would have read on my own. I've read Run by Blake Crouch, the Iron Druid chronicles by Kevin Hearne, Dresden Files by Jim Butcher, Sick by Brett Battles, Infected and Contagious by Scott Sigler, and Sandman Slim by Richard Kadrey. I'm working on Kill the Dead: A Sandman Slim...
  15. This is just a streatch but do you get DH? From what I read on here iodine can flare that up. Just a thought since the contrast is iodine based.
  16. Hard to tell if it was the IV contrast, but not impossible. What has my intrest is the rash you had. As for the hives the following day, could those have been from the steriod pills they gave you? It still is a possibility that your reactions were from the IV contrast though. If you are uncertain, mention it if you ever have another CT scan where they...
  17. You could be super sensitive and reacting to gluten free foods that most tolerate. There are some on here that deal with this and may have some suggestions. Do you eat gluten free oats? About 10% of celiacs have problems with pure oats causing the same issues as gluten. You also have to watch out for gluten free oat contamination in your gluten free foods...
  18. Did they have you drink anything for the scan too? Some of the oral ct scan contrast can have gluten. As for the IV contrast there is no gluten but it is iodine based. Your nurse probably didn't know the ingredients but the CT technologist should have been able to give you all the information on the IV contrast. We have to keep the package insert in our...
  19. I just contactd Blue Bell and they sent me two gluten free lists. Here is their contact number. The representative I spoke with sent me them via e-mail. It made one happy 6 1/2 year old little boy. Now he is able to buy an occasional icecream treat at school. Consumer Relations Blue Bell Creameries, L.P. 979.830.2192 979.830.7398 Fax
  20. My 6 1/2 year old has dental issues also. He has multiple fillings in his baby teeth. He also has issues with his bottom 1st permanant molars. They came in looking not right. We went to the dentist last month and I mentioned it to her. She said he has weak/soft enamel on those permanant teeth and the one came in with a cavity! She said when she was...
  21. Are you getting gluten in your diet inadvertantly that is keeping you feeling poorly?
  22. I've been known to eat a few too many M & M Mcflurries myself. As for Dairy queen my son and I will get the icecream in a cup, frozen slushy-like drinks, dilly bars or buster bars. Yum!
  23. I agree with the other posters. If you have a diagnosis of DH then it is a diagnosis of celiac.
  24. My son's teacher reluctlantly agreed to once and a while to heat up a lunch for him, but I could tell she really doesn't want to. They are all worried that it will create problems with the other kids in the class. Good news is that the school nurse spoke up and said that there are a few other kids that they accomidate like this so I think that is why his...
  25. I can't put my arms above my head for any lenght of time without them to start going numb. Last I knew all my vitamin/mineral levels are good. I do have three posterior osteophytes in my neck. I believe my neck has something to do with my issues. Do you have a slipped disc or a pinched nerve? I also get numb arms when I sleep wrong on them. I think...
