  1. Keep up the good work. I'm curious to see what my youngest son's ttg is now. I'm due to get my blood work redone also. Since eliminating more stuff I'm hoping the Igg antigliadin has went down. All the others were fine with just that one still being elevated last Aug.
  2. Glad to hear your mom is doing well and is thriving gluten free. Gives me some hope that someday my father and brother may change their minds.
  3. Sorry it took so long to reply, I have been on vacation. I had him tested about a month after I was diagnosed and his blood work was negative and he was showing no other signs. Appx. June 2010 he started having (his language mind you he was 5 at the time) puke burps and tummy aches. The stomach aches occured at random times and would be anywhere from severe...
  4. You could always use baking soda to wash your fruit and veggies and it is cheep. I especially like to use it on apples and grapes. With grapes rinsing them just won't get that residue off. I put them in a bowl with water and some baking soda and swish them around. Then I rise them off. It takes the residue off. With things like apples and other things...

    ARCHIVED Grr...

Well, I managed my vacation back home without giving any unsolicited advice!! However gluten came up at the party we had since everyone wanted to know why my youngest son and I were not eating the same. (we got glutened anyway and a 24 hour gi bug) It got really old quick but people were just curious and kept asking questions. Another day my brother started...
  6. Unfortunately you can't make her get tested. What you can do is give her all the information and lead by example. Sadly I have given up on trying to convince my father and brother to get screened. Neither want to hear it. It makes me sad, but that is the reality. Here is a link to a topic about this very thing.
  7. Off and on for over a year I have had what the GYN called contact dermatitis. Gyn told me it wasn't a yeast infection and could not find any other reasons for my symptoms. Needless to say this year it got really bad (nothing I ever did helped) and treated myself with over the counter yeast infection medication. Well, it worked so I thought I was out of...
  8. I understand from your post your son had positive blood work a year ago and was diagnosed celiac. He had repeat blood work recently and it was positive also. Are his numbers going down at all? Is there any chance gluten is sneaking in unknowingly?
  9. What is happening to your daughter is that the stool behind the constipated/impacted stool is watery and is leaking around the constipated stool which is why she is probably having the soiling issues.
  10. I am so sorry for your loss. I'm not the best at words but we are all here for you too if you need to talk.
  11. My oldest son has had constipation issues since birth. Nothing helped: undiluted juice, prunes, mineral oil, and fleets enemas. He had a gastrografin enema when he was 2.5 yrs old(same as a barium enema just different contrast) and since it draws water into the bowel and colon it helped flush him out. We did the test to look for a cause of his constipation...
  12. I got the same thing..
  13. That was my first thought too. People get weird when they see something they are not familiar with. Maybe they were worried that sales would drop. Case in point: my oldest son has a friend who stays over a lot. I made some gluten free pancakes and he was fine eating them until my oldest told him they were gluten free. He immediately quit eating them...
  14. I took it for a good three months until it caused me to become constipated. I only take it now when I get glutened for about a week or so until the fat malabsorption subsides and I am over the glutening.
  15. Found them at Wegmans in Jamestown, NY and at our local Ingals in eastern TN.
  16. I don't know if this is an OCD tendency but my 6 year old was abnormally focused on his shoes. He didn't like the color, they were too tight/loose, he didn't like the velcro/shoe strings. etc. He would throw outright temper tantrums every day when it was time to put shoes on. The only ones he wanted to wear was flip flops so I threw them away last year...
  17. I can relate. My 6 year old and I just got back from vacation to my parents house. We were so careful during my nephew's graduation party and had our own food. We both got glutened and to top it off a virus to go with it. My 10 year old and hubby got the virus several days later, but my youngest and I are still feeling the effects of the gluten. Until...
  18. Yeah, all Bob's products are out for me also. The RX zantac helped get the ulcer healed. I don't like taking medications but in this instance I needed some relief and healing. I was able to taper off of it only after 2-2.5 months. Doctor wasn't happy, but I knew my body and I haven't had any trouble with it since. I will get reflux when I get glutened...
  19. Both positive here. My 6 year old had a positive ttg last Nov. but we didn't do a biopsy on him.
  20. I had an ulcer last April. I had horrible reflux and epigastric pain. I had a repeat EGD that showed a very small one in my stomach but I was negative for h pylori. I was prescribed zantac for 6 months, but only took it for two. I knew that the ulcer was heald at that time because those symptoms dissappeared. However, I still had severe diarrhea and...
  21. Wow this sound so much like us. I was diagnosed first in 2008. Both my kids at that time were screened via blood work and both were negative. FF two years and the youngest(now 6) is having symptoms and he has a positive ttg. We put him gluten free Nov. 2010 without doing the scope (hubby later regreted this). Confirmed gluten is an issue after doing...
  22. I'm getting a referral to another GI doc that is in network with my insurance. Hopefully she will be worth a hoot. I picked up the records I requested from the peds office today. Wow am I learning a few things. At his 15 month check up his doctor (original one who delivered him) was concerned about his growth. He had went from the 50th percentile to...
  23. Had to have the same discussion with my son's teacher etc. Also a few years ago my oldest was having horrible reactions from the hand sanitizer and soap. I told his teacher that he was NOT to use the hand sanitizer or soap and provided him with non antibacterial soap (we all have skin problems with it) to wash with. The poor kids hands were dry, cracked...
  24. I've only used the coconut oil and was fine with it.

    ARCHIVED Tipping

On the occasion that we went out to eat pre gluten free days we always tipped a minimun 15%. We have went out a few times since and still tip our regular amount. If they go above and beyond with me and my son being celiac we tip extra.
