  1. She was going to make the whole class gluten free cupcakes.
  2. Glad you are seeing some benefits. It can take awhile to see improvements gluten free. For my youngest son I didn't start seeing anything noticible until we got closer to the three month mark. I ended up doing his trial of gluten free for 4.5 month before we did the gluten challenge. It just worked out that way. We let him go hog wild during the three...
  3. I can't tell you the last time I bathed my dog. I usually just use baby wash. However dear 'ol dog loves to play with the hose. Now that is warm he is having a field day and getting wet.
  4. I wouldn't have eaten it either. I had a mother of a kid in my son's kindergarden class ask about my son's "allergy." I told her he had celiac and has to eat gluten free. She told me oh yeah, I have had customers ask me to bake gluten free bread. From what I could gather she does a lot of home baking of bread and sells it. I really hope she doesn't start...
  5. I don't thin it will happen again. I bet the two counslers call out the diector. If it was me that wasn't informed I would for sure let my boss know. I too trusted his kindergarden teacher to give him safe stuff. In fact they they made all snacks for snack time gluten free.
  6. Sometimes I ramble too. I get that way when I haven't had enough sleep so sometimes what I write may be confusing. Thanks for the thoughts!
  7. He has never been off of gluten so we do not need to do a "gluten challenge." We should be fine going straight into the biopsy. I'm just making sure he eats lots of gluten because sometimes he prefers my stuff.

I'm leaning on this group in Knoxville. They are affiliated with Children's Hospital there. Hopefully we can get some answers for my oldest son. Irregardless of any results I will be trialing him gluten free when we are done with testing. Really the only thing left to do is the scope/biopsy. He has been tested three times and all come back negative....
  9. This stinks. I have been researching three different gi groups and will probably be able to make a decision and call for an appointment on Monday. What stinks about it is that my poor kid has been miserable since Monday. He went away over Memorial weekend with some of his friends and was able to eat anything he wanted. They had pizza most of the time...
  10. Thanks guys. When it comes to the six year old he and I still have some learning to do. There are situations that come up for him that I never had to deal with by myself. Definately different challenges with a child. I will talk to the director and ask what the typical snacks are (what brands) to see if he can have any of them.
  11. My boys go to a summer ESP program two days a week while we are working. I filled out a TON of paperwork including papers describing my youngest sons food restrictions and celiac disease. I even talked at length with the director and she assured me they take things like this very seriously. Well obviouslly not serious enough at least for my child. They...
  12. For the first three months I took the creon I ate whole foods and prepared everything myself. I did not completely eliminate dairy as I ate cheese and yogurt but I did not drink milk. I used homemade almond milk instead. After that I slowly started introducing some gluten free products. I can tolerate Ener G products, kinkinnick(? sp), King Arthur and...

Thanks. It was hard and the feelings just welled up inside. Even my husband(who is hard to convince of things) said that the decision was stupid. One good thing that comes out of this is that hubby is starting to agree with me that my oldest (10 yrs old) needs further testing (scope/biopsy) even with negative blood tests 3 times. Poor kid is really coming...
  14. I can't tolerate them at all and can not eat any gluten free products that also produce oats due to cc from them. In my case I do believe it was causing me damage. Last April I had a repeat scope because out of the blue I started having symptoms (total 8 months last year). On my scope it showed esophagatis, gastritis, stomach ulcer and imflamation in the...
  15. In all likely hood she is stong positive on the blood tests she has celiac. There are a few other autoimmune diseases (don't know which ones off hand) that can elevate the ttg. If she doesn't have any other issues gluten is likely the problem. I would go gluten free after the scope/biopsy and not wait for the results. Biopsy can give false negative results...

    ARCHIVED I Need Help!

Do you eat any gluten free process/packaged food? Can you eat gluten free oats? If yes, you could be reaction to low levels in the food. It is also estimated that 10-15% of celiacs react to oats, even gluten free ones, and there can be an issue with oat cc (Bobs Red Mill can have oat cc as I am intolerant to them and any products). I would look at those...
  17. You said he is eating a lot of Udi's products. Is he eating the granola? Appx. 10-15% of celiacs can not tolerate even certified gluten free oats. If this is the case I would get rid of the granola or any gluten free oat products. Bob's Red Mills can have oat cc (I know I react bad). Just another thing to mention.

I talked to my mom yesterday afternoon. I knew my dad had his colonoscopy Thursday morning but I had no intention on asking how it went. Needless to say mom brought it up. She said that the doctor said everything looked good, removed some very small benign polyps and he doesn't need to come back for 5 years. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad his colonoscopy...

Anyone familure with Children's Hospital Pediatric Gastroenterology PC in Knoxville, TN? I do have a name of a pedi Gi in another town that is in network with my insurance but want to cover all bases. This group is not in network so I would have to pay more out of pocket, but if anyone in their group comes highly recommended then it may be worth it.
  20. If you are hosting the party then I would fix food that your children can eat period. As for others "expecting" certian things at a social gathering, I think that they need to realize that this day is for and about your daughter and need no expectations. At my youngest son's birthday (his 6th) he was gluten free. I fixed him a gluten free cake, had a veggi...
  21. Didn't do a scope/biopsy for my youngest son. I am going to see if I can get his blood drawn soon (it's been a litle over 6 months gluten free) and see if his ttg is negative now. I'm going to have it sent to the same lab so everthing is the same (ref. ranges). Hopefully with everything, positive ttg, good response gluten free, bad response when we reintroduced...

I did good today. My dad was telling me about his prep for his colonoscopy in the morning. I just agreed with him and didn't say much!
  23. Yes it is definately possible. My now 6 year old tested negative in Nov. 2008 after I was diagnosed. Fast forward two years and he tested positive in Nov. 2010.
  24. My parents have spring water mostly but do have a well also. They had their water tested and it was high in bacteria (they have a farm and also live surrounded by national forest). They have a filter on it to get out sediment and some kind of uv thing to kill the bacteria. Their water isn't hard though so no water softner.
  25. I buy mine at a Mennonite store also for around the same price. Can't beat it.
