  1. Definately get a new toaster. You can pick up one that is pretty inexpensive. I got mine at Dollar General for $9.99 and myself and my 6 year old use it. The old one is all for hubby and my parents. I don't think powerwashing would do the toaster any good. I would worry about it shorting out. At any rate it probably would render it useless and you would...
  2. Here is what I worte to your question earlier. I'm reposing it for you to see.
  3. Look on your RX bottle it should have the manufacture listed or you could call your pharmacy and find out. I tood RX Ranitidine last year for two months to heal an ulcer. The generic I took was gluten free but I don't remember the brand. It might be easier for you since you have little kids to give them gluten free snacks to eat while you are with them...

    ARCHIVED Dapsone Fail

Why not get a biopsy for DH?
  5. I've not had any problems Blue Diamond plain natural almonds or their nut thins. I've gotten pretty sensitive to cc lately too.
  6. Well it sounds like they are in areas all around me. I'll have to make a road trip (appx 30-45 min) to see if I can find them. Doubtful I will find them anytime soon in my town.
  7. Yes, as the pp said cc can keep you from making progress. What you need to do is have a good thorough cleaning of your kitchen. Mark all of the jars that have been shared somehow so you know not to use them and let the rest of the family finish them up. Get you new ones for yourself or replace with squeeze bottles that way everyone can share. We have...
  8. I had to cancel the appt. The group is affiliated with Children's Hospital in Knoxville. The physician would accept our insurance, but to have the scope done at Children's it was going to be too expensive with insurance only paying half. So I guess I will try to get a referral to this one in Kinsgport and have it done at Holston Valley Medical Center....
  9. I try to grow a few things every season. Last year I had a bumper crop of tomatoes and was able to can some. I do select herbs in containers and plant just enough cucumbers and green beans to eat. I've also got colored bell pepper plants. I planted zucchini in a bag of garden soil (they look great) and did spinich and leaf lettuce the same way. The spinich...
  10. I learned today that I can order locally grown produce and other products through our local Rural Resourses mobile Farm Market. It's pretty cool. They offer baskets that have a varity of in season fruits/veggies, eggs, meats etc. Alot of the farms are self sustainable and organic farms and some with free range beef, chickens, lamb, etc. They have a family...
  11. Before gluten free my youngest son would have bad temper tantrums and had this strange fixation (borderline OCD behavior) over his shoes. It was a daily battle to get him to put on his shoes. He would lie down and throw temper tantrums over them because they felt funny, he didn't like the shoe strings/velcro, they were to loose/tight, the list goes on....
  12. That does sound great. My youngest son's kindergarden class had a luau at the end of school last month. They did everything gluten free and I don't think they mentioned anything to anyone but me so he could participate. They did the octopus out of the hotdogs and they loved it. I made the blue jello and put gummy fish it. They also had fruit and veggies...
  13. This happened to my 6 year old. For the first week he had very bad mood swings. He was also an eating machine for about two weeks or so. Every time I turned around he wanted food especially, like you said, after a meal. It slowly tapered down and now he seems fine unless he get into unintentional gluten(thanks summer day camp) or cc'd. Now he is growing...
  14. Get her iron checked. A lot of time pica can be a symptom of low iron. Make sure they do all of the iron tests including ferritin and not just go by her hemaglobin and hematocrit which is in a CBC. I was told for almost a year that I was not "anemic" because I had normal hemaglobin and hematocrit. All the while I would eat crushed ice chips all day long...
  15. I'm sorry that it is such an issue for others. It's really sad that grown ups are acting that way. This is supposed to be a happy day for your daughter so I hope it is. Don't let anyone be a buzzkill. Good luck!!
  16. I have him a GI appointment on July 13th. I could have gotten in on June 22nd but we will be on vacation. I wish we could've taken that appointment, but oh well.
  17. Been going through something similar with my father. At least your's took the book so there is hope. I've given up with my family. I know my brother has celiac and strongly suspect my dad! For me there is no use beating a dead horse...
  18. Snickers bars bother me now. I don't know if it is a cc thing or just chocolate. I'm leaning on the chocolate because I got heartburn from something else with chocolate in. What brand of chip? I don't tolerate alot of mainstream chips now that I did before. I don't know how old your children are but if they are still consuming gluten then you could be...
  19. Good advice! The Mellow Mushroom here has a dedicated prep room, different toppings and separate pans. Roman's has a dedicated area also and only the OWNER makes it to prevent cc.
  20. Notme here are some links I found for you. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link
  21. There is a pizza place in Knoxville that will do special order gluten free pizzas etc. You do need to phone ahead because the owner is the only one who makes and prepares it in a separate area. The name of the place is Roman's Pizza. I have not been yet but want to go. There is a Mello Mushroom in Johnson City and Asheville. I think there are a few other...
  22. Well, we dodged the bullet yesterday so I thought we were in the clear. NOPE! Mood swing is in full force this morning and he is fixated on the shoe thing. I still don't get that one. He had this issue before gluten free and it seems to resurface when he gets glutened. And then there is older brother who is telling me he feels icky again which he was...
  23. That was my thoughts and I did try to convey, but in the end she was going to do what she wanted. It never came to pass though, but I'm sure we will face these issues in 1st grade too.
