  1. Make sure you ask how many biopsy samples the doctor is going to take. The recommendation used to be a minumum of 6-8 but there are some posts on here that say that now they are recommending 8-11 samples.
  2. I'm going to assume they are talking about a CT enterography exam. I had one done last August due to having continued symptoms. Fortunately it was all normal and further elimination in my diet resolved my symptoms. It wasn't that bad to have done. You had to drink three bottles of contrast (I drank volumun and it was gluten free) each 20 minutes apart...
  3. I'm about 70 miles from Knoxville. I'm just south of Johnson City appx. 40 minutes.
  4. Most of the time I use Kraft and I have not had any issues. Campfire marshmallows are gluten free also. If you have an Aldi's around you I found a store brand there that was labled gluten free also.
  5. I didn't know this. My oldest son(10.5 yrs old) had this done when he was eight and I think it was negative, but he has been consistintly negative three times now. Even so we have an appointment with a pedi GI next week and I am going to push for biopsy. I've felt for quite awhile that he needs to be gluten free as does his allergist. His allergist feels...
  6. We had our 6 month cleaning/check up today. I had a couple of concerns I wanted to discuss. About 2-3 month ago my 6 year old started cutting his 6 year molars on the bottom. I noticed that they were yellow and discolored. I knew that they didn't "look" right but nothing to do about it since they were not in fully. Well I was told that the enamel on...
  7. The boys use colgate the kids strawberry flavor. Up until recently I used Crest. I found some Tom's of Main and decided to try it and loved the way it made my teeth feel. It makes them feel like you just left the dentist. Hubby and kids don't like the taste so I'll buy them the kids Colgate or hubby the Crest.
  8. I was on vacation in PA the last two weeks of June and had no computer access at all. That wasn't a bad thing though. We all communed with the farm, river and nature. I asked my mom if I could have the ice cream maker she had when I was a teenager. She hardly used it so I brought it home. Been having too much fun experimenting and eating.
  9. My 6 year old had horrible reflux up until he was about 9 month old. After that he developed a bad rattling in his chest. At that point I believe he was having silent reflux. All of the reflux I know contributed to his breathing problems and as a result he was on pulmicort twice a day till he was three. At that point he didn't have any more breathing...
  10. I have been experimenting with making homemade ice cream. First few times it tasted good but was to grainy and icy and only two of us would eat it. So on a quest to make a creamier product I used this recipe Open Original Shared Link After some reading I modified the recipe a bit. I decreased the vanilla extract to 1 tablespoon and proceeded...
  11. My youngest son likes them. First time I tried them I wasn't all that impressed, but tonight I toasted one and liked it a whole lot more. It still is nice to "seem" normal.
  12. My youngest son(6.5) was only one number over positive on the Iga ttg. We did not do a biopsy. He has a pretty wild reaction when he gets gluten. First he will complain his tummy hurts, then his behavior does a 360 deg, he fixates on things and gets constipated. It takes a good week or so for things to get back to normal. So to me the actual number certainly...
  13. I had my two boys tested about a month after I was diagnosed and both were negative on blood work. Oldest boy(10.5) has been tested two more times. Youngest son(6.5) was tested again last Nov. (it was two yrs since his first test) and he had a positive Iga ttg. I declined a gi consult and scope on him. He has been gluten free since. Oldest son has consistently...
  14. No we threw all the rest away since everyone hated them. We will buy the Kraft strawberry and chocolate/vanilla swirl marshmallows and use plain gluten free crispy rice cereal (now we can use the new gluten free Rice Krispies ) and make flavored treats that way. We love them that way.
  15. Funny thing is that I love cocoa pebbles and my boys like the fruity pebbles. We have made both into bars and noone likes them. Weird.
  16. You need to get your ferritin checked. When mine was in the toilet I would have a lot of shortness of breath and tachycardia. It would be a good idea to get a whole vitamin/mineral pannel done as well.
  17. I would put them gluten free regardless of the biopsy results since they both were positive on blood work and with you already diagnosed. I'm hoping to get my oldest son scheduled for a scope next month. He has a GI consult the end of this month. My youngest is already gluten free as am I so it is likely we will add another to the lot.
  18. I have two boys. My 6.5 year old tested positive for Iga ttg last Nov. I did not have him scoped/biopsied based on his positive blood test only and my celiac diagnosis. However, my 10.5 year old has tested negative on blood work three times now, His new allergist thinks he has celiac or gluten intolerance anyway. We have a GI consult the end of this month...
  19. Yep I had scalloping visually and on biopsy I had villi blunting and crypt hyperplasia. Weird thing was is that I did have intraepithelial lymphocytes, but not in the great number usually seen. But I'm celiac none the less.
  20. Maybe Raven can chime in. I thought she had abnormal lesions show up on an MRI and they were caused by gluten. Might want to get your mother and aunt tested for celiac too.
  21. My GYN told me the same thing and since it responded to the diflucan he said it then it is a yeast infection on the skin.
  22. Mostly the irration is around the peineal area but has spread to the skin in the other area at times before. It's always on the skin. No symptoms of the other type of yeast infection. I am almost symptomless today but I will take the other diflucan pill tomorrow. Weird thing also is happening. I have had this red, slightly rasied and dry area just below...
  23. I am sensitive to oat cc so I called and asked about that very question. I was told that the gluten free granola and other udi's products are made in a shared facility but the granola is prepared in a separate room with different utensils. I haven't reacted to the bread yet. Here is the actual response I got: Sent: Tuesday, December 21, 20...
  24. Weird..I thought the idea may be crazy. Hopefully when all the effects of the glutening wear off I'll be back to normal. Still not there 100% yet. I was telling my husband the only place I feel safe is at home in my controlled environment or literally packing a cooler everywhere I go.
  25. I was diagnosed with a stomach ulcer after almost 1.5 years after I was diagnosed with celiac. My initial EGD only showed gastritis and no ulcers. I was negative for h pylori both times and it wasn't from nsaids. I can only conclude it was from gluten. I continued to have other symptoms and long story short, I eliminated certain gluten free products and...
