  1. Don't let the test results stop you from trying the diet. I had negative bloodwork ( had been gluten free for a month - duh, doc), and negative endo ( quick look - 1 biopsy), but went on the diet anyway. I knew my body. Am feeling better every day. Try the diet for a few months and see if thats what it is. Good luck.
  2. Here's a doc story and one reason I don't trust them. In my early 30's, I went in for my yearly GYN. no problems, just the annual. After it was over, doc called me into his office and informed me that I needed to schedule a hysterectomy because I had a prolapsed uterus - and I needed to do that before I became symptomatic! I thaught "what kind of bull...
  3. You poor dear. That is no way to live! Are you diligent in maintaining a gluten free diet? Are you living in a gluten free house or do you share the facility? I was cc'd so much at first, but I kept learning and am getting better now. Mostly learning by poisoning - not a good way to learn! If gluten is your problem, you've been sick for so long that...
  4. Just out of curiosity, and to see if I'm on the right track, and to get new ideas, whats your daily menue like? What do you eat in a typical day, including snacks? I'll start. Breakfast Poached egg in tomato-zucchini mixture small piece bread am snack 1/2 banana 1 other fruit couple of crackers lunch bowl of soup - mostly veges, small amout...
  5. Got to comment on the cat situation. I love cat's - have actually had them, but they are everywhere this year. Someone dropped off a couple of strays that stayed, and numerous nieghbors let thiers run wild. My next door actually puts food out for the strays- she feels sorry for them! I have asked her to not do this, to no avail. I'm sick off weeding...
  6. We have an acre of land and about 5 acres of empty land behind us, but we are basically in the middle of a good sized city. And there are 3 deer that live in this area that I see in my yard once in a while. We have to maintain a 4 foot fence around the garden to keep the deer out - the critters that ate my garden were rabbits or groundhogs or some small...
  7. Gotta love the small print!LOL
  8. You know, I hadn't thaught about this for a long time, but I used to get that tingly arm fell asleep feeling in my left forearm frequently. I've been gluten free for 8 months now and just realized it doesn't happen anymore. And I thaught I had no PN problems. I remember having to shake my arm to wake it up, and it would happen for no obvious reason ie...
  9. My Father died of colon cancer at the age of 63 - same thing. He let it go, even though he was symptomatic, untill it was too late. When he finally landed in the ER, it had spread to so many organs, they just stitched him up and sent him home to die. I am 63, and just had my first colonostomy. Everything good, thank God. I did talk my 53 year old sis...
  10. Wish I had seen this post earlier but here goes. 20 plus years ago, I was having some problems with anxiety and my Doc prescribed ativan, a fairly new drug. I specifically asked him if they were addictive because I wouldn't take anything like that, and he assured me that they were not, so I started taking them. I took them for about a year as prescribed...
  11. Great BF - don't let that one go! Glad to here everything went so well. Now, get busy on that novel!
  12. Better late than never? Happy b-day. Your advice and knowledge have help me countless numbers of times
  13. I didn't know that about pumkin vines. Mine are in the middle area of the garden and taking over. Next year I'll plant them along the fence. Thanks for the info.
  14. Since I adore basil, I'm going to try to find this for next years garden. Thanks
  15. Great idea! I've got other metal things in ther. Thanks
  16. I don't have kidney stones, but found out at my celiac testing that my gallbladder was loaded with stones. That really suprized me because I never had any stones in my life. They are asymptomatic, so I just lug them around. I hope they don't cause the problems like kidney stones. It's interesting to note that I've developed calcifications in my lungs...
  17. I have read about the "wheat crisis". Another factor is land being changed from food production to ethanal production. I would foresee a scarcity of wheat would raise the price of other grains, at least in the short term, and my rice flour will be even more expensive. But, I've got soooo many real problems to deal with, I can't bother myself with problems...
  18. It's rained more than usual here, to, but I did manage to clean up most of the weeds and replant what I still have time for. What is shiso(perilla)? I've never heard of that.
  19. God, I feel better!
  20. Oh my. This does look like a power struggle. I want to thank you before I put my two cents in. I'm 63, have cooked in restaurants for years, have been on th gluten-free diet for 8 months and did not know till reading this topic not to cook in the old cast iron skillet that I used to make glutteny corn bread in! You cannot assume people know this stuff...
  21. Second time in one topic to say boy, do I feel stupid! I knew that was you, Mushroom. I don't know why I wrote Jesgar - and then I spelled it wrong! I think that all answers the question " Can you write?" But, I'm trying to make it right, and I'll try to be more attentive. And, sorry Princesskill, I didn't mean to make light of a very serious and painflull...
  22. Boy, do I feel stupid! I told you this to help you alleviate the stress of fearing osteoporosis, but I forgot to mention the important part. Which is that neither of them had osteo - they just fell wrong, or rather landed wrong. But, you should have a bone density test as should every celiac. Hope you recover soon.
  23. Thanks for all the info. I think I'll take this slowly amd think more about it. I hate to take meds, so I'll do some more research before I try this.
  24. It was coming up pretty good until I tore a ligament in my knee and couln't get down there for 2 1/2 weeks. Well, when I finally hobbled down there, I discovered that the critters got in there through a broken gate and had a PARTY! They ate all the lettuces, swiss chard, peas shoots, and green beans. We fixed the gate but the next day, they burroughed...
