  1. I agree, Scott was just giving the facts. But I feel the same way. I think trans fats are a good example of how anything that is essentially man made, or "artificial," is just plain bad for you. We were not meant to create or chemically alter our own foods. Many researchers also believe that even though there are no calories in the artificial sweeteners...
  2. I do not have one, sorry. But wouldn't it essentially be the exact same thing but instead of gluten containing grains like barley, they would be replaced by gluten free grains like millet and quinoa?
  3. There's really not much else you need to look for. Personally I just stick with Blue Diamond brand nuts. They have some really good desert flavored almonds like vanilla bean and cinnamon. They also segregate ingredients so there's no risk for cc. At least that was what I was told a couple of months ago, but I figured they'd already be pretty good at that...
  4. Lactobacillus casei is not and does not contain casein, it is just merely a certain strain of probiotic --> Lactobacillus casei is a species of genus Lactobacillus found in the human intestine and mouth. As a lactic acid producer, it has been found to assist in the propagation of desirable bacteria. This particular species of lactobacillus is documented...
  5. First of all, it's "Add Reply." Second of all calm down, I was just stating the facts. And as already shown, two slices of regular pizza is roughly 500 - 600 calories. So it's not that much of a difference. Pizza is already known to be very high in calories.
  6. I understand where you are coming from. I am considered a Non-Celiac Gluten Sensitive person myself and have never had an "official" diagnosis made to confirm this. Confirmation would be nice, but ultimately the most reliable and accurate test is a negative or positive dietary response and you clearly have a positive one. Current testing only diagnoses Celiac...
  7. I know exactly what you're going as I am experiencing something very similar right now and I have been gluten free for about the same time (Jan. 09). A good vitamin B - Complex is a good idea. And for even added energy, digestive enzymes are a necessity, just make sure you get a good one with a lot of lipase and/or bile for fats. Digestive enzymes have helped...
  8. At first I thought this was the issue, so I took my supplements, multi-vitamin, B Complex, and Calcium everyday and still little to no improvement. I still cannot seem to fall asleep when I want to. Could it be because before I try to go to sleep I usually have a tablespoonful of peanut butter? I have heard that fats can mess up a person's sleep cycle...
  9. If you aren't already, cut out all insoluble fiber, this includes nearly all grains (white rice is ok because it contains so little) and cruciferous vegetables such as lettuce, broccoli, and brussel sprouts. Soluble fiber shouldn't pose as much of an issue, but still try not to exceed 6 grams per meal. Also, if you haven't already, cut out all dairy.
  10. Chicken, rice, and bananas are at the top of my list for easy things to digest. Maybe you should try some of those things. I know exactly what you're talking about with the feelings of food just sitting there for way too long. I found that my issue was with fats, they would take forever to digest, much longer than they should have. So, that could be your...
  11. SOME gluten would NOT matter, it would have to be a lot. Two weeks is not enough time to alter the results of the antibody test.
  12. I think stomach acid has more to do with the digestion of protein than fats, just fyi. But if you think your digestion is weak, I'd recommend some digestive enzymes. I believe you can also get a supplement known as Betaine, made from Beets that acts as stomach acid. Be careful though, too much of it means too much stomach acid which can irritate the lining...
  13. It is really hard to say how long you have to be on a gluten-free diet before the results get skewed. My GI told me about 6 weeks, which sounds about right. I would not say that two weeks enough to alter the results of the tests, a lot of people's antibodies levels take much longer than that to go down, but then again people with gluten sensitivity do not...
  14. I think I am getting enough protein, I always shoot for around 50 grams of protein a day. If anything I would say I am not getting enough carbs, probably only around 100 - 125 a day. I think the calcium is a great idea though --> Open Original Shared Link I did notice I had no problems falling asleep when I ate only nuts which are loaded in magnesium...
  15. Yes, it seems like even an hour or two after that meal when I wake up, I'll eat again. It's like I cannot fall asleep without something in my stomach. Perhaps I am just eating my feelings as I am under a good amount of stress being college as a freshman hundreds of miles away from home? College is also where this whole thing blew up, but I'm not so sure it...
  16. I can never seem to fall asleep on my first try. I always rest for about 20 minutes and then get up and eat a decent size meal. After the meal I usually fall asleep pretty quickly. It is just getting annoying to have to keep eating something to get myself to fall asleep. I am not overweight by any means. If anything I could probably stand to gain a few pounds...
  17. You don't have to do the same for protein unless you suspect you aren't producing enough stomach acid. You only need to avoid fats simply because they're the most difficult to digest and the majority of the digestion of fats occurs in the small intestine which is usually damaged in people with Celiac/Gluten Sensitivity. I would stay away from ice cream...
  18. I know exactly what you are going through! I experienced something very similar to what you are going through. It appeared I was constantly getting CC'd even though I was 99% sure everything I was eating was safe. Turned out to be nothing more than the malabsorption and maldigestion of fats, which is very common in celiacs and gluten sensitive individuals...
  19. Honey Nut Chex actually does not contain peanuts, so you should be ok. Be aware it does contain almond ingredients however.
  20. I would definitely say there are different levels of gluten sensitivity. Some people don't even get symptoms after consuming gluten while others cannot even tolerate vinegars made from glutinous grains (all vinegars are said to be gluten-free since they are supposedly removed during the distillation process). Levels of poor absorption vary in each individual...
  21. I would also say, definitely yes. However, a bunch of other things could have also caused the vomiting.
  22. Peppermint oil can cause heartburn --> "Peppermint relaxes the gastro-esophageal sphincter, thus promoting belching." (Taken from Wikipedia) So if you are currently suffering from acid reflux you might want to avoid peppermint oil.
  23. It's good to see I'm not alone.. Does anyone know how long it usually takes for the fatigue to fully disappear? I have about 1 - 2 years, can anyone confirm this? I would really like to know since I'm about to be a sophomore in college and am seriously considering taking a year off since I want to enjoy college and not just "get through it."
  24. I do not really remember, I think I had to take them for a little while before I started to notice the benefits. I believe they can help with heartburn if you don't have enough stomach acid but they can also cause it if you have too much. It's a double edged sword. I always made sure to take them in between meals so I didn't get any heartburn. I personally...
  25. Yea unfortunately this is a very common side effect, I personally liked the minty fresh breath Are the ones you're taking enteric coated? This can help reduce the minty burps and/or possible heartburn.
