  1. Hi DS- I was on the extra powerful Ds just before I was diagnosed -- I remember them being 50,000 for just one week -- may be mistaken -- perhaps they were only 20K. How long does your doc have you on them? Since you've removed gluten, I would think that soon you'll be able to drop down to a regular D supplement -- perhaps have your D checked by blood...
  2. Slept thru dinner last night -- folks had heat on at their house yesterday -- allergic reaction ensued followed by Benedryl -- nightie night at 5pm. Tonight we will have: Steak Creamy Garlic Enchiladas - I'll enjoy vicariously Chopped Asparagus Sesame Salad - sans dressing for me Blueberry "Ice Cream" for dessert
  3. So excited! Woke up feeling strong and good thing as tonight all four of us are headed to the House of Blues to see Sum 41 -- my go to music when I don't think I can ski down another run or walk up another hill! Me, out late on a school night - nothing is impossible For those not feeling good today -- here is a funny that made me lol: ...
  4. Remove Refractory from your list of concerns - I don't have it - although it was looking as if I did for a very long time. You'll heal - just takes time - again MOST are healed during their first year so just focus on your food choices and disregard the negative stuff as much as possible - it is not easy - but is possible.
  5. Welcome! I love your screenname - I often refer to certain periods of my life as Zombie Days. When was the last time you were tested for celiac disease? Were all the antibody tests run - many docs run only one or two of the complete panel. Have you had nutrient blood tests? These can indicate the malabsorption found in celiac disease...
  6. Not a problem - I was a mess during the first months gluten-free - regular tears in grocery store isles, etc. It is not an easy learning curve - even for those with some experience with food allergies. Go easy on yourself and rest assured complete healinng in nine weeks would be miralculous, not the norm and should not be expected by any GI - sadly Celiac...
  7. This I agree with - the letter he sent isn't worth the paper it was printed on. Your improved antibodies in April will confirm that you have removed all gluten. If the DGP is not significantly lower - you'll need to take another look for possible CC or hidden glutens. I'm sure you have already seen the "Newbie 101" thread, but it is a good idea to...
  8. I am addicted - have been awaiting Season III since Season II ended. The premiere was wonderful! I like your list of favs but add Carson - he is tough on the outside but a complete marshmellow when it comes to Mary - loved the scene where Mary is ready to leave for the church and both her "fathers" are stannding side by side as she desends the staircase...
  9. Baby Back Ribs Butternut Squash Fries Broccoli Lots and lots of water
  10. No apologies needed here - we all had many questions similar to yours when newly diagnosed. We also are all different. For me I went undiagnosed for 43 years - in hindsight I had symptoms all the way back to when solid food was introduced - possibly even when I was on formula - my symptoms became worse over each decade - by my 30s I was in pretty bad...
  11. No more than two glasses of wine for this girl .... leads to sneaking to the frig that could cause major set-back - thankfully I just have an upset stomach from my midnight trial of RBJ on gluten-free waffles!
  12. Thank you Luddie- I have not read this book and appreciate the suggestion of a good read
  13. Come back anytime
  14. That should carry all we need to and fro various destinations -- good work! And this way we can install the perfect dream mobile kitchen
  15. My "heat weirdness" includes anaphalaxis and hives and swelling up like "violet" it is quite strange for others around me when it happens. I got rewarded for telling my dolphin stories this morning - son and I got to see a pair frolicking in the surf near the cabrillo tidepools That trip to Africa sounds like another great birthday plan to me!
  16. Lil Bro-in-law's birthday dinner tonight with my folks: Pork Roast with Basil Sauce Homemade Sharp Ceddar Cheese Baked Macorni Peas Asparagus for me Blackberry/Blueberry
  17. Hang in there DS I had total atrophy at dx which had not improved at A YEAR gluten-free. Celiac Doc was stumped. At two years the damage finally stopped getting worse and at three years I finally had an improved marsh scale score - while nit was still in the threes it was improved. I don't say this to scare you - just remind you that it looks like...
  18. Keep going Ladies - you can do it!! That first week is a b%$@# - but thankfully it gets better - sometimes with amazing results You can do it!!
  19. Swimming with dolphins again is on my list too .... they do it at sea world here, but I prefer them in the ocean -- on a very lucky day they come to play with you in our waves. One helped me find the surface when I was trapped in "the washing machine" of big surf while body surfing as a young teen and once a small family played around me while kayaking...
  20. Yay! So glad you had a great day playing with the giraffes
  21. Yay -- I can back up Irish in driving the rig and can hook up the tow car Happy Birhtday to Addie!!!! .......
  22. I feel like "Horshack" --- LJ....histamines - took me for freaking ever to understand -- I will pm you some links - on my cell cuz kids killed my computer today - if you don't hear from me - a gentle nudge is always welcome
  23. Only one volleyball player
  24. I'm firmly planted in the "positive is positive" camp -- because I was "weakly" and "mildly" positive with total villi atrophy - my kids and grands all test negative except for one DGP - we all have Celiac Disease and our lives have been greatly improved removing gluten.
  25. Wild guess - we have a winner on the left
