ARCHIVED Dr Appt Tomorrow Need Advise!
GottaSki replied to mmcc54's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
While I am glad to hear she had results that confirm what you already know....it still makes me sad doctors continue to be obtuse and dismissive with regard to celiac. Good job sticking with it Mom. I hope your little one is feeling much better soon -
ARCHIVED New Test For Non-Responsive Celiac Disease
GottaSki replied to GottaSki's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Which makes me glad I posted it I'm just thankful more tests are being developed...I certainly could have used this one three or four years ago. Also encouraged by the three day challenge blood test on the horizon -
Hi Julie -- Believe me, we are all now very clear that you were not asking for help -- many of us misunderstood your post, so your intent was not originally clear to us and we were trying to help. The forum format often leads to misunderstanding as we are not all sitting in a room where we can hear your tone or see your facial expressions and mannerisms...

ARCHIVED Enough Gluten?
GottaSki replied to Pokey Oaks's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You will have a tough sell there...start with complete celiac antibody blood tests: Total Serum IgA tTG - IgA and IgG EMA - IgA DGP - IgA and IgG Good Luck! -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free 5 Weeks Some Symptoms Getting Worse
GottaSki replied to motheroftwins2010's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Yes, sadly some of us do get worse before we improve. If you have not, remove dairy -- it is the most common intolerance for those with Celiac Disease. Hang in there! -
Welcome Buffy! I am not familiar with Ducolax, but do know that laxatives of any sort can be very tough on our tender digestive systems -- especially during the first weeks gluten-free. The best thing to do is contact the manufacturer by phone or email when in doubt about any product. Hope someone else knows whether it is gluten-free or not.....

ARCHIVED Gluten Free 5 Weeks Some Symptoms Getting Worse
GottaSki replied to motheroftwins2010's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Sorry you are still feeling poorly -- it takes many of us much more than two months to heal. It is possible to feel even worse and have symptoms change and then one day realize you are improving. Some times that happens within days, sometimes months and unfortunately for some of us - years. I do hope you improve quickly and it is important for you to... -
ARCHIVED New Test For Non-Responsive Celiac Disease
GottaSki posted a topic in Related Issues & Disorders
New -- DGP antibody array, rather than the commonly used DGP antibody titer may be helpful to those with Non-Responsive Celiac Disease that completely adhere to the gluten-free diet Open Original Shared Link -
ARCHIVED Enough Gluten?
GottaSki replied to Pokey Oaks's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Welcome! Unfortunately, it is hard to know. If your antibody levels were high before you removed gluten (grains) for six weeks it is possible that you will still have positive celiac antibody levels. The problem is...if you have negative levels the data is not reliable because of the period you spent gluten-free. That said....the improvement gluten... -
The What's For Dinner Tonight Chat
GottaSki replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Actually thinking more of pasta like the mini lasagne noodles/wide egg noodles from Sam Mills or perhaps a regular gluten-free lasagna noodle...just love the idea of learning something new for the crock -
The What's For Dinner Tonight Chat
GottaSki replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I love this idea...checked out the recipes you posted...and am thinking I may even try the garlic cream sauce I use for enchiladas to try a crock pot version with pasta...looking for anything that will help me cook for the men without getting overheated standing over a stove or keeping my antique oven burning for too long...don't get me wrong...I love my... -
ARCHIVED Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (Mcas)
GottaSki replied to IrishHeart's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Yep...I have the same frustration...yet another digestive disorder that is under-researched, new to even the most aware doctors and completely off the radar of our best doctors. Beyond frustrating! Do you have written or electronic copies of your tests? Either post them here or PM me...I'll be happy to do what I can to move you along this frustrating... -
ARCHIVED Need A Dr. Referral In Long Beach, Ca Area?
GottaSki replied to FruitEnthusiast's topic in Doctors
Welcome Back FruitE I can highly recommend Dr. Gregory Harmon, Director of the UCLA Celiac Center. The problem with the SIBO test is it is not very accurate...catches something like 60% of cases...so worth doing, but not conclusive. I have yet to find a medical doctor that is excellent with the amount of intolerances I developed after celiac... -
ARCHIVED Doctor Only Ran One Test?
GottaSki replied to targetsgirl's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Sad...but not uncommon Good luck...let us know if we can help with the next doc -
ARCHIVED Doctor Only Ran One Test?
GottaSki replied to targetsgirl's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Eating gluten once per week or less for nearly a year would require a full gluten challenge of twelve weeks of daily gluten (one slice of glutenous bread is enough). Two weeks would not be long enough to assure accurate blood results. -
ARCHIVED Sam Mills Corn Pasta
GottaSki replied to bubblesx's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
As long as you don't have an issue with corn...it is great and most definitely gluten-free. My family of celiacs has been using all shapes of this pasta for about three years -
ARCHIVED Doctor Only Ran One Test?
GottaSki replied to targetsgirl's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
With familial history alone, you should have a complete celiac antibody panel. Add symptoms and yes - you should absolutely have a complete panel. If all those are negative, removing ALL gluten for at least three months (six is better) to monitor symptoms would be the next step. That your doctor ordered only a tTG-IgG is strange as it is quite common... -
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!! Thanks for sharing good news I'm turning 5 this month too

ARCHIVED Gluten Cutter
GottaSki replied to silk's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Digestive enzymes are a very good idea....my kids take them before eating out and I will when I am able to eat out again (other intolerances prevent me from eating in restaurants). They can also be very helpful for folks that are healing and having a tough time with digesting food in general. The danger for someone with celiac....is thinking digestive... -
ARCHIVED Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (Mcas)
GottaSki replied to IrishHeart's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
If symptoms are managed with diet alone...no problem. Unfortunately for me...strict removal of all high histamine and histamine inducing foods for more than a year has not been enough. I have far too many unexplained allergic type reactions that continually increase in severity along with flares of other symptoms that return without explanation. Again... -
ARCHIVED Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (Mcas)
GottaSki replied to IrishHeart's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I have seen many folks on the mast cell forums have their local docs consult directly with Dr. Afrin. This might be the best route as it would allow you to stay local for your care...it can be tough to find the right combo of meds if you need them. I've had a rough time with it, but seem to be on the right track now...with hindsight I can see the process... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Cutter
GottaSki replied to silk's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thought I'd add a couple links: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link A quick search should provide more info if you need to convince your daughter. I searched "gluten cutter celiac". Good luck -
ARCHIVED Gluten Cutter
GottaSki replied to silk's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Gluten Clutter is simply digestive enzymes. There are many formulas of digestive enzymes and some are marketed specifically for gluten. While they may help some folks tolerate gluten...they DO NOT prevent the autoimmune reaction to the consumption of gluten in those with Celiac Disease. I would imagine they will have symptoms return and will have elevated... -
ARCHIVED Weird Allergic Reactions
GottaSki replied to EarFull's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I don't know a good allergy forum. I do think you should be tested for Celiac Disease, because you do have symptoms that are associated with celiac. Your primary can order a complete celiac antibody panel. Additionally, you should see a good allergist for allergy testing. Good luck to you -
ARCHIVED Canyon Bakehouse Bread
GottaSki replied to BlessedMommy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Absolutely...great bread and finding it for $5 is nice...started closer to $7 here...has come down thankfully! Our house has been completely gluten-free for over three years -- my gluten eater husband has no problem with the switch now that the bread options have improved
